This is much more credible than my contention that Lester Spiffany was one of the humans released from the Dominator chambers.
You're right about the Spiffany abduction. It was really early on in their takeover. Afterwards he went to tend to his shareholdings in the likes of Brande Inc, as we're told in v4 #1.
Hang on, I've got those lost pages here somewhere...
Dominion underling: I abase myself before my, ah, superior!
Slightly Higher Up Underling: Rightly so. How is our, ah, prisoner faring?
Dominion underling: Spiffany has, ah, escaped , oh great one...
Slightly Higher Up Underling: What? Show me the, ah, holos! They'll scrape both our, ah, discs for this!....
The holo flickers uncertainly into life...
Warden: Into the pod, prisoner scum.
Spiffany: No! I'm not going in that! It's stupid! Just stupid! >walks away<
Warden: Get back here!
Spiffany: Nope! Stupid rip off of an Invasion of the Body Snatchers film! I'm not going into something derivative. That would be stupid! >walks out door<
Warden: >stunned by prisoner's sheer front< Ah, close the chambers! Stop him!
Spiffany: I'm not staying here! You're all a derivative of an outdated racial stereotype! That's just stupid!
>The plant based technology begins to close giant, sap leaking, doors on the chambers>
Spiffany: Ha! Plant tech! That's just stupid! What happens in winter? Or if your enemies have defoliants? Stupid, stupid Stupid!
>The slightly embarrassed doors slide open<
Spiffany: Walking into distance...Now mining!
That's worth something. Like my dad's firm...
...fade...
It was unfortunate that Spiffany was tested by Super Socialist Rokk. Had it been Dirk, we would have seen Spiffany's Super-Blagging power in action. Like Captain Marvel or Johnny Thunder, Spiffany has a magic word too: "Stupid!"
Universo would never have taken over... "Monocles are stupid! Have you considered laser eye surgery? Here, let me show you... >blast!<
The Great Darkness saga would have turned out differently. "Sure, the anti life is all very well. But what then? Everyone will have the same level of terror for you. It would be stupid not to consider a capitalist free market economy that gives those in it uncertainty *and* terror!"
Mordru would finally have been placated with riches and admirers. "I'm telling you Mordru, those Las Vegas resorts would pay stupid money to have such a refined sorcerers act such as yours. You'd own the place!"
Yes, the Legion really missed a trick when they rejected
Capitalist Kid!
Given her Legion experience (and possibly lingering guilt over impersonating Violet), of course she would give up her stage career to fight with the good guys in troubled times.
It gives a link to the Johns run (in continuity or not) and backs up the decision to send her into infiltrate the JLE.
"I would never put your wife in a dangerous situation. Not unless I
knew she could handle herself as well as
any Legionnaire," said Brainy. From which I like to think that her capabilities had been tested, and although a new Legionnaire, Brainy had confidence in her.
