Reminder: Legends of the Dark Knight Norm Breyfogle goes on sale tomorrow! If you want a bargain (and who doesn't?), In-Stock Trades has it for half price! That's $24.99 for a book cover-priced at $49.99! If you get that and at least another $25.01 in books, shipping's free! I use IST all the time, and highly recommend them. I just put my order in and can't wait to see what is surely a handsome collection (I've bought several of their Batman creator-spotlight hardcovers in including Don Newton, Gene Colan and Len Wein editions) spotlighting one of the best Batman artists ever in what are some terrific stories to boot! Best of all, these sales directly help Norm!
Still "Lardy" to my friends!

I was hoping for that! I hope DC gives him more of the proceeds than whatever's standard. I'll definitely be buying a copy! Reminder: Legends of the Dark Knight Norm Breyfogle goes on sale tomorrow! That they can cut a price in half kind of makes me wonder about proceeds distribution. Looks interesting though, I've never read Batman other than an occasional pick-up. I think I got the Hush stuff. I think I'll wander that site, thanks for the link.

Hey, all Norm fans, Since we're never going to see any new art from him, I thought it might be nice to not only celebrate all the great Norm art we can always look back to, but also some of his less well-known artwork. For instance, did you know that Norm drew a Thunderbolts story for Marvel (TB Annual 2000, to be exact?) This Annual was written by Fabian Nicieza, who at the time was only a few issues into his run as the successor to original TB writer Kurt Busiek. Fabe & Norm mesh creatively like chocolate & peanut butter, IMHO. They both seem to be having a great time working on this story. It's also a lot more accessible to readers who usually don't read Marvel than most TB stories. The plot is the familiar "everybody confronts their own personal demons" trope, but no less well-crafted for that. I highly recommend it.

I misread that as "I thought we're never going to see any new art from him" and was looking for the a "but" . Still, it's good to look back and I hope to see more from him in whatever capacity.

I re-worded the first sentence of my previous post.
Thanks for the heads-up, Thoth.

Actually, it was completely down to me speed reading it, and being thick.

LOL One of the Batman characters Norm co-created with Alan Grant was called Joe Potato. And...we're back on topic.

Since my last post here, under my old Legion World ID, Norm has, unfortunately, passed away. There is a thread in the Anywhere Machine where we shared our thoughts on the loss of Norm: https://legionworld.net/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=960200But the main reason I'm bumping this thread is because I recently read the final three issues of "JLA Incarnations" for the first time, and issue 5 has a GORGEOUS eight-page backup story, tlted "Changes," and drawn by Norm. That the main character (a character Norm rarely drew even though Norm's style was perfect for them) is about to die makes it even more poignant than it already is. Norm fans, do yourselves a favor and seek out this story.

Hmmmm...I'm pretty certain that I either picked this up or would have. The memory's a little fuzzy, but this series might have been released during the time when I was without a CBS and depended solely on online sources. Either way, I'd be lucky to find it in the maelstrom that is my comics collection in the early aughts. Looking at the specific issue's description, I'm disappointed that it wasn't included in the Crisis Companion HCs. They included the outstanding Legends of the DCU Special that was also published long after Crisis, so the precedent was set......
