I was a little surprised when Voldemort pulled out a machine gun and murdered the Hogwarts teachers.

Obviously Miss Rowling is a fan of Scarface wink

Oh yeah... the woman who sits in the cubicle across from me bought the book, but has decided to wait until her vacation in three weeks to read it. If anyone near me starts talking about the book, she gets all irritated and bitchy.

I'm sorry, but if you decide to wait three weeks to read a book that everyone is talking about, then you should invest in some earplugs.

I didn't read the books until this year. I had watched all the films. and I must say, reading a saga without delay(well about 3 months) was a lot of fun.

I have enjoyed the series. this last novel was really good. the epilogue was well done. it explained a lot but left much to your imagination.

now here's my question: in the same way that Marvel Zombies or Star Wars has been done to death , how many horrible ways can the Potter franchise be extended? how about Potter Generations,Hogwarts: the early years, or maybe Potter alternate earth where house elves rule supreme? I am laughing, but you just know some suits are trying to convince JK to sign on the line.

She seems to be doing pretty much exactly whatever the hell she wants to do; however, I wouldn't be terribly surprised in a few years to see her pull a Conan Doyle and bring Holmes back.

Well, apparently she has announced that there will be another Harry Potter book written at some point. This will be an Encyclopedia, which will give more detailed character backgrounds that didn't make it into the series, and some glimpses of what happened to characters after the end of the series.

She said not to expect it tomorrow, as she wants to take a little break first.

Well I finished it this morning.

The story didn't let me down. I think there was a mistake in the story but I need to check it out. Click Here For A Spoiler The goblin steals the Sword of Griffindor and then Neville has it later

I felt the epilogue was a hastily written tack on. It also reminded me of those movies (like Animal House) where during the ending credits we see the characters and a "what happens to them" is flashed on the screen.

And I was glad to see my favorite character Click Here For A Spoiler Severus Snapes redeemed in the end. Although I found his love of Lily Potter (nee Evans) a little creepy.

Based on the epilogue, I wouldn't be surprised if Click Here For A SpoilerRowling did a series with the Weasley/Potter cousins at school together. Sort of a "Hogwarts: The Next Generation".

that doesn't sound bad. I just hope there aren't any bad spin-offs like: the adventures of Dudley, or Kreacher in Charge. smile

hey Quislet. in response to your two points: (1) the item in question is available to those in need, and are performing an heroic deed. that's why it appeared when it did.

(2) just think of that Police song, Every Breath You Take. unreturned love/obsession is creepy.

I like Kreacher in Charge. But whatelse?

Hmmmm.... Hagrid moves to Miami and opens up a detective agency.

OK ok how about... Aunt Muriel is forced to live with Griphook the Goblin?

That's doesn't appeal to you. Let's see.... Lifestyles of the Rich and Pureblood, with your host Lucius Malfoy

I saw lots of Harry Potters at the airports on my flight to San Diego. And then there were four more within a three-person radius of me as I sat in the snaking line for Comic Con Preview Night after getting my badge.

Finished on Tuesday on a plane to Oklahoma. Lots of cheering, a couple tears and at the end of it, I can say I really do feel very fulfilled.

The last book was very different than all the others, but of course, it had to be. And it was wonderful, all of it. Tons of great moments that I was waiting for and tons more that I didn't expect.

Click Here For A SpoilerQuis, as someone mentioned, the reason for your first spoiler is from Chamber of Secrets, that the Sword of Gryffindor available to those in need who possess the true qualities of a Gryffindor

Click Here For A SpoilerLoved the Snape bit even though I suspected, loved the Ron & Hermoine kiss, loved so much about so many characters, but I truly loved Harry's reveal to Voldemort at the very end when he shows he's not dead. It will make such a great visual in the movies, and it was a cool approach that we were all in on it.

I think it's funny that we never really got into a discussion of the book, largely, I think, because everyone was too afraid to spoil it for the others. Meanwhile, I still haven't read "Cursed Child", even though my wife bought and read it right after it was released!

I suppose it's worth saying that The 2-part Deathly Hallows movies are my favorites of the film adaptations, probably because they drop very few details and let the story breathe. Other film series have followed suit, but have been a lot less satisfying.

BTW, I clicked on and reread this thread because it showed up amongst the "search spyders" list of threads. I click on threads from that list quite often!

I read a synopsis of "Cursed Child" and it sounds like bad fanfic. I won't be reading the full version.

I thought it was okay and relatively inoffensive. My wife and kids seemed to love it.

I read Cursed Child. It was just okay, I agree it didn't hold up to the main books in the series. No plans to watch the play.

See Cursed Child was devise as a play, so it a) would read fast and b) isn't designed to have the same impact reading as performed. Of course that didn't stop WB from mass-producung the book because it was money.

All that said, I liked Alan Moore's ending to the Potter series in League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: Century better. evil

That's a good point, Dave. Sometimes we forget that writing styles have to vary for different media.

I'm a little tired of that trope.

I can appreciate that, but the whole thing was so blatantly over the top that it had to have been Moore poking fun at it all.
