Wouldn't you like to know?
Luke's arc was also the part of the film I liked best, for the reasons you outlined, HWW.

Yeah, it's not necessarily what I would've done with the character, but it was well-done.

The Underbelly of Society
I'm glad you liked it, Huey! There's been so much negative backlash toward it that I sometimes think I'm just some hippy fringe dude!

Still "Lardy" to my friends!

The Plateaus of Ecstasy
I would happily cop to being a hippy fringe dude, Lardy. smile

I read the reviews on this thread, and I think I understand where people are coming from. The Last Jedi is not The Big Victory people might have hoped for, but, in an era when every blockbuster tries to deliver The Big Victory, it was great to see Star Wars take a different approach.

My granddaughter took me to see Last Jedi for The Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Junior, ThD Day.

bona fides: I was thirty-two when the first Star Wars movie, now titled "A New Hope", was released.

I especially liked last the Kylo-Ren-Luke-Skywalker battle, especially how the audience is telegraphed so many clued that something is not right, which makes you realize what a bad Villian Kylo Ren is for not noticing.

I think that ultimately Rose is right, at least here in real life.

(non sequiter: What we want most for ourselves is independence, what we want most for our loved ones is safety. Is it wrong to sacrifice a small amount of safety for our loved ones, so that they might have a little more indepencence?)
