Well now I'm not too sure this is the right time to be posting this. Maybe a bit too much competition from another much more popular book launch do you think?

This was a treat to myself as a sort of Birthday present but it has taken a long time to get it all together and working with Scott in America was a real learning curve for me. My original script for this was WAYYYY to long. Scott offered to do a full 22 pages but I could not at the time afford it.

Many thanks to Gary for hosting these images for me. These are saved a little smaller than the originals (which were in TIFF format and about 25MB each page) but you should still be able to click on them for larger views.

Any one interested in the back story this episode came from should look
Here
Anyway now for your entertainment and I hope you enjoy, this four colour adventure of the Legion of Message Board Posters.

That’s one good-lookin’ super-hero on page one! laugh

I can practically feel the females getting worried about his fate!
Posted By: Faraway Lad Re: LMBP - Now in comic book form. - 01/04/05 08:00 PM
You'll have to get all the females on Legion World to mount a rescue mission.

Mind you I thought you might be looking forward to be chained in a dungeon with the "empress" wink

Or was that handsome fellow me laugh

or Lardy eek

Darden, this is great. It's funny to read about 'enema rays' in comic format as that's not normally the sort of evil do-ers weapons that appear in my usual choice of reading material, maybe it's time I stopped reading only DC and Marvel?

Who's the artist?
Posted By: Cobalt Kid Re: LMBP - Now in comic book form. - 01/04/05 08:15 PM
The art is amazing! It reminds of me of a 70's era comic (and that is definatley a compliment!).

I'm looking forward to the Empress/Cobalt scenes that follow! laugh

B

What can i say, I have a warped sense of humour. laugh

You asked who the artist is? this is from his web page which you can find Here

ABOUT THE ARTIST: Scott Reed is a graduate from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. As a cartoonist, he began his career contributing inks for Greater Mercury Comics in 1990. In 1993, he was hired on-staff as an inker for Malibu / Marvel Comics. There, Reed's credits included Star Trek: DS9, Mortal Kombat, and many others. Reed left Malibu in 1995 to pursue a freelance career, where he provided inks to Dark Horse Comics mini-series Godzilla & G.I.Joe. His Marvel Comics credits include Mission:Impossible, Independence Day, Virtuo Fighter and Spiderman/Ultraverse.

I found him offering to do three pages on an ebay auction.

Scott does have a pretty old school style and i for one think it works well for this story.

Wow! That is so much fun!!! Excellent work. Can't wait to see more!
Posted By: Greybird Re: LMBP - Now in comic book form. - 01/04/05 10:43 PM
You took up Scott Reed's auctions! I've seen them for some time. He'll do individual pages or a three-page story, with those being auctioned off, and will contract to do a "full" story. I was tempted myself.

Great action and storytelling! It gets a conflict across in a compact way and with distinct LMBP characters. Reed clearly knows how to pare a story down to its essential actions, as hard as it may be for those like you or me to prune back our own words.

What a gift not just for yourself, but for all of us! (And thanks for getting my sister into the first page.)
this is cool Darden, can't wait to see the rest of it .....

Matthew.

Darden, that is just so great! Is there more coming?
Posted By: Faraway Lad Re: LMBP - Now in comic book form. - 01/05/05 07:55 AM
Thanks guys, I wish there was more to come but finances prevented me from getting any more pages than that.

However! wink

if any of you LW artists want to, I would love to work on another set of pages. I could even stump up a bit of money to pay for it (not huge sums though guys, I have food and stuff to buy you know laugh ) Anyone intersted PM me.

Darden, this is awesome! I love it! BouncingBoy

One small quibble...you never got around to Vee! laugh

More please!
Posted By: Faraway Lad Re: LMBP - Now in comic book form. - 01/05/05 03:35 PM
colour me chastised Vee smile

AS I SAID UP ABOVE (shouting in cas no one heard me) laugh

if any of the LW artists want to work with me I'd be more than happy to put up another couple of three pagers I have in mind. And actually I need a LMBP'er who can grow and shrink. So unless you have had a power change to match your avatar change you made the cut. And i want to put Harbinger in there as well. gosh damit I need an artist, stat! laugh

Man, but Scott made Lardy look almost......heroic, really.

That was a fun read, Faraway. Thanks for posting it!

I think Vivian/High Priestess ought to have a power like the Wasp. Shrink and grow fairy wings and shoot indeterminate "magical bolts" (they twinkle like Tinkerbell's energy wake) at her opponents.
Hey, it fits with her "Priestess of the Holy Isle" personna AND is a bona fide super power.
Would that help?
There's always Gay Green Giant who grows like Colossal Boy (the old one) laugh
It takes two characters to do it but we get the job done!

btw- those pages are wonderful! Thanks for going to so much effort, I love 'em.

Wonderful idea - and execution - Darden! This must be the first LMBP comic book. The Legion Star - the LMBP comic - what's next? Good show!

This is awesome Darden (although sorely lacking in Loser Lad content, but hey, just how many characters can you cram in to 3 pages before you have to call in George Perez?). Must be exciting to see your story actually drawn out like this.

Geez, first you donate the Legion World Star and now this. You come up with the coolest gift ideas ever! I think next year you're coming along with me when I do my Christmas shopping!
Posted By: Yk Re: LMBP - Now in comic book form. - 01/06/05 05:50 PM
Just wait until the Primary Color Gang shows up to kick serious butt!..or the LMV!

...and no sweat Viv, I had that idea for your LMBP power a while back but never said anything about it 'til now. It seemed like a nice combination of the Earth-Magic theme and superheroics.

Sorry Vee, didn't mean to step on your toes buddy. Besides I'd rather the PCG members be used (if they get used at all) in their original villianous incarnation first.
Great stuff, Darden!
