Sure, Azrael was obnoxious, but, hey...JOSE LUIS GARCIA-LOPEZ art, y'know? - 07/28/18 09:50 AM
Seriously, I dug out Baxter Titans issues 7, 8, and 9 last night, and the Thia/Lilith/Azrael storyline is kinda like the "Call of the Primitives" episode of "Transformers" -- it's so gorgeous to look at, I find myself not caring about anything else.
JLG-L seemed to really be having fun doing that arc.
Also, I have to mention the coloring by the late, great Adrienne Roy. It probably won't convert a lot of people who think that Baxter books were too garish-looking, but I think that if you compare Adrienne's work there to just about any other DC Baxter book at the time, you'll be rewarded with a lot of surprising subtlety and nuance, which makes JLG-L's art two thousand times more awesome!
