Well, I've been working a crush on Joel McHale for years, and that was all before I knew how HOT be looked in undies! Freakin' sweet! The man can rock old-school gym shorts too.
Yes, this week's episode continued the upward trend for COMMUNITY on Thursdays/NBC. It's humble yet promising beginning has blossomed into full-frontal funnery you don't wanna miss. Please stop not watching it.
GOOD NEWS-- it has been confirmed by EW.COM that NBC's entire Thursday night comedy block has been renewed for next season, REJOICE!
So, what have you to say about White Abed? Or Leonard, the latest minor recurring character standout (alongside such luminaries as Star-Burns)?
Who is happy that Chevy Chase found this vehicle and is back at last?
Share your love of Britta, Annie, Shirley, Troy and the whole gang!
Community is awesome!!!
The Christmas episode alone should make anyone a fan of the series ...
Abed (really the character playing him) is genius. His Batman impression literally had my laughing my ass off.
Troy is also comic genius. The final bits with Abed (as I said in the other thread) are my favorite. I've seen the actor who plays Troy do some stand-up (not live, on TV) and its hilarious.
Annie is also awesome. She's on Mad Men where she's completely serious and very likeable. Here, she really shines. I loved the episode where her and Jeff had awkward romantic moments.
Britta is totally hot but they do a good job giving you reasons to find her annoying.
And of course, my favorite is the Asian Spanish teacher, who is hilarious in everything he's in. I don't know his real name but all I know is I want him to be in every show and every movie I ever watch hereafter.
Just watched the pool episode ... great spotlight on Abed ...
Actually I think Abed is cute, quite cute in his way. Troy too. Tiny-nips Vaughn also. I love that they've made it ok to call out a guy's tiny nips. I mean, whoever would have thought this would be okay to do? Heehee!
Shirley is awesome, I love, adore, l'amour Annie and Britta both rocks and sucks and is generally outstanding in one extreme or other. Her character is NOT an easy one to pull off. The actress deserves an EMMY nod (along with Abed).
I really need to learn the REAL names of the folks who play these characters other than Joel and Chevy (who both ALSO deserve EMMY nods!!)
Plus the long list of 2nd tier characters (and we all know how I love 2nd tier characters) is ASTOUNDING.
The pool episode has easily been my favorite of a long run of favorite episodes.
"Getting rid o' Britta, I'm gettin' rid o' the B.(she's a G.D.B...)" Great, now that's going to be in my head all day long....
This is a great show! I love watching each episode a few times during the week, and not all funny shows bear repeat viewing. The show started off a bit too much with each episode about Jeff having to choose between being selfish or doing the right thing. (no surprise, he would eventually do the right thing) But now that they've dropped any pretense of a story, they're just letting loose with the funny - which might not be a good thing for every show (I'm talking to you "How I Met Your Mother") - but luckily, the writing is strong enough for it to work.
Star-burns is definitely the breakout star though...
I don't get to watch it as often as I like (due to usually working on Thursdays) but I enjoy it when I do!
Well tonight's ep wasn't super-hilarious but I did enjoy the Pierce/Jeff friendship/family message.
The whole Troy's Nana/Britta thing didn't work for me.
Star-Burns' kid HAS to be his real-life son!
And Kathryn McPhee looks nice as a blonde, though I do love my brown-haired girls...
I think the last two episodes were shown out of order ... Jeff said something about meeting the old man in the pool class's kid on Family Day last week ... and he was flirting with the hot chick in the pool class too before it was shown he got dumped ... sorry to be a continuity cop ... I just thought that was odd ...
Just watched Thursday's ep. I love that they now call Star-Burns that name to his face.
Nice moments for Jeff, Peirce and Shirley this week. It was fun.
Loved the chicken fingers episode, it was streets ahead!
Definitely streets ahead!
"Annie's boobs could be anywhere!"
OK I just watched this past Thursday's ep on the DVR, and I believe I can state quite frankly and without hyperbole that not only was it the best episode of COMMUNITY ever, it was also the best episode of ~ANY~ TV show ever.
I guess I need to check this out.
OH YOU DO. For the episodes of Joel McHale in his undies if nothing else...
Even without that I love this show!
try to catch last week's ep on the 'net! It's the one where they are playing paintball, if that helps...
I thought they wouldn't be able to top the "Goodfellas" chicken fingers episode but this week's episode was FRIGGIN' BRILLIANT!
Loved when they took out the glee club ...
ill look it up on hulu after brothers & sisters...

WAS IT NOT? Never seen anything like it on TV, especially a half-hour sitcom!!
Over on EW.Com they are playing "name the movie references" in Thursday night's fantastic episode... I deifitely got the 28 Days Later, Dawn of the Dead and Scarface references...
Check it out!
it didn't feel like a sitcom at all...
The Goodfellas chicken fingers scene is perhaps the greatest achievement in television history!
I will say that the paintball epsiode was simply brilliant. Having never watched an episode before, I knew exactly who each character was, what their role was and they still managed to move the overall plot forward.
Cobie, that was a great TV moment but *TELL ME* you didn't miss this past Thursday's episode which was, I feel, the greatest 30 minutes in TV history!
*choke*
I did! This may call for a watch Hulu at work moment!
It was of course much more low-key than last week's incredible 30-minute sitcom golden masterpiece, but there was stuff going on.
Didn't like how Jeff Winger (McHale) was soooo mean to Annie but it fit his character.
Not even a hint of a mention between last week's Jeff/britta hookup? intersting and for the best most likely.
"You could be a PLUMBER!!!" It was cute.
Senor Chang's revelation was quite unexpected... but it looks like they found a way to give him an even bigger role next season as a student, so that's good.
My DVR always cuts off a minute or so TOO soon--
--can someone tell me what exactly Pierce did to get everyone a passing grade? I bet he sexed her!! (NOT sexted-- SEXED
)
They weren't specific, but yeah - Pierce gave the teacher a little sexo for an easy test.
It's interesting to see how they're coming up with reasons to keep the cast together as the years go by. I don't see why they need to have one tv season equal a school year. They're just backing themselves into a corner, assuming the show goes on.
SEASON TWO premiere tonight! Guest starring BETTY WHITE, it's sure to be streets ahead!
I got season 1 on DVD Tuesday, yay!!
Any good extras on the DVD?
A KICK-PUNCHER comic book for just one
90 minutes of DVD stuff too. Just buy it, I might want to watch when I come visit
Wow, there were some serious repercussions from the season 1 finale there!
LOVED Jeff and Britta's little fake love affair thing. Cracked me smooth up.
Zombie fans: this Halloween will be a zombie episode... I knew there had to be fans on the writing staff after the 28 Days Later and Dawn of the Dead homages in the now-legendary paintball episode!
I gotta start watching this...since I work at a Community College. Bet some of my days are odder than the show.
I can't wait for the DVD! My wife and I plan on a marathon viewing, where we eat "baggles" and chicken fingers throughout the day. Can't wait to see the "Kickpuncher" comic either!
I loved the season opener! The fight in the study room was muy dramatico! I imagine their new class is going to used as a tool to explore the group dynamics even further.
Am I the only one who thought the trick answer to the class assignment was going to be "The BOX is the most important tool?" (my wife has long said that "the recepticle" is man's most important invention) Betty White's "hatchet-launching crossbow/noose" is pretty rad though...
Loved the new ep! I wish Betty White got to be a regular though!
EEEEK! I forgot it had a thread of its own!
this show continues to SO ROCK.
A zombie movie. They did a freakin' zombie movie.
I just love this show!!!
Yeah, I liked it. I think it was a much stronger ep than this weeks. Speaking of the Halloween ep, did anyone else think that Shirley's costume could of been Princess Peach from Super Mario Bros?
They sure manage to show quite a bit of skin in this show... no complaints of course...
A WHOLE lot this past week. LOVED it.
Is she pregnant? Is it his?
I KNOW RIGHT!!! That was quite scary. If she is, its GOTTA be his...
Great episode this week... despite how stupid the characters generally are, it's one of the smartest shows I've seen in a long while...
Shirly's ex is Theo? What would his dad Dr Huxtable say about him cheating on her with a stripper?
I do truly love this show!! And nothing is going to chang that!
Love how all ep the sweater was quietly hilarious as then finally Jeff mentioned it!
My wife thinks Chang is not funny at all. I personally can't stop laughing the minute he's on screen.
Originally posted by Cobalt Kid:

And when "Theo" answered, "I got it from my dad."
The gang plays Dungeons and Dragons to cheer up a depressed, corpulent classmate... truly hysterical!
So funny! I text my brother to watch--great D&D send up!
Just watched it. Hysterical and brilliant. I can't help but j'adore Chevy Chase.
COMMUNITY is TV's smartest show!
I'm liking Community more with each episode. It's one of those shows that could have gotten stuck in formula, but it's really turned up the creative power.
Originally posted by SharkLad:

Chang looked like a bleach-topped Nightcrawler. Crazy!
Such weekly excellence... I sometimes feel unworthy.
Loved everything about this Valentine episode, though it was light on Shirley.
Looks like Jeff's heart is growing three times larger... between the AD&D episode and this week's, Jeff is becoming a regular softie...
Just watched this season's first episode again tonight (I save 'em on the DVR as long as I can 'til the DVD comes out), and was reminded just how big an ass Jeff can be! Man that episode got UGLY in the middle...!
Since I'm up too dang early, I guess I'll watch the rest of the epiosdes.
Speaking of Jeff-as-ass... he literally pulled no punches with Pierce this past Thursday.
Another great ep. Pierce certainly showed he is not to be trifled with.
Love that this show is willing to take all kinds of chances... this week's episode with Pierce in the hospital had nothing to do with the basic premise of the show... plus Levar Burton singing Reading Rainbow and Troy's meltdown... hilARious
Great ep and I love the amount of heart the show has sometimes.
Pierce is a character I generally loathe but usually every episode I come to appreciate why he's there.
The Jeff / Britta scene where they roleplay "Jeff's Dad" and "Britta's Dad" was hilarious.
Another solid gold outing from COMMUNITY this week, perfect from the get-go with Pierce's "sizemore" joke!
BEST lower-tier character intro'd this episode: Vickie! She rocks! Her feud with Pierce was hilarious.
WORST lower-tier character intro'd this episode: Magnitude. Hope he never pop-pops back up on a later repisode. Bleah!
Always nice to see Garrett and Leonard. Had no idea Star-Burns was a drug dealer.
Loved Abed's side-non-romance with the secret service agent!
This was the second (at least) episode with Magnitude. He was in the episode in which homeless Chang moved himself into Jeff's apartment. Magnitude showed up at the partay.
He must have been really forgettable to me in that episode, as I didn't recall him at all.
problem: boredom
solution: this season's episodes of Community on the DVR. Lates!!!
The first appearance of Magnitude. You know a show is great when you find yourself pausing just so you can read all the various text floating across the screen during the fake news broadcasts.
After rewatching this season's episodes, I think the Halloween/zombie ep and the Dungeons & Dragons ep tie as my favorites so far. Of course, I love all the episodes.
I now realize why I didn't remember Magnitude from that episode-- I was too in love with Paige, Britta's new not-lesbian makeout friend/enemy!
I think the D&D one is my favorite but just about every episode delivers.
This show will definitely be in syndication one day like the Office or at least should be!
Just got around to watching the election episode... pure Abed brilliance... Danny Pudi deserves an Emmy or even an Oscar ... maybe a Golden Globe...
I've always loved Abed, but I think the moment I realize this actor is an ABSOLUTE GENIUS is back in season 1 when he assumed the persona of a sexy gigolo-type seducer and just about had (iirc) Annie out of her panties. In that moment, he was FREAKING HOT. How many people as quirky and odd-looking could pull off FREAKING HOT like that?
Yes he deserves an Emmy. The whole show does, it is SO streets ahead!
Lash, I remember that episode and thought the same thing.

Agreed...
Also, how brilliant was Dean Pelton's Uncle ("Auntie?") Sam outfit? He's friggin' awesome...
Netflix.ca just picked up the first season. We watched the first episode and it was fun. Though the lead character didn't work for us, the supporting cast were really funny. We'll queue up episode 2 later this week.
Last week's episode was probably my least favorite episode of the entire run. Probably I just need to give it another view. Chang being pathetic doesn't work for me, maybe; I think I prefer him as the power-tripping badass super-jerk.
BUT! After finishing this week's episode, I can again say:
This show is so fantastic, so far above most other shows out there that I feel privledged, honored and even a bit special to get to view it every week. I even feel pity for those who are missing out on this awesomeness...
So glad not to be amongst the pitiable... such an awesome show... agree with you about last week's episode... I'm not crazy about the "Who's Shirley's Babydaddy" plot... they still have to find a better way of integrating Chang into the group...
I just down-loaded the whole first season of this show. Won't be able to watch it until my assignments are all out of the way in a few weeks but I look forward to seeing what all the excitement is about with this show.
Yay! Soon I won't have to pity Blacula anymore!
Sharky, you're right, they just need to let him in the group already... he really really gets on my nerves when he's pathetic... but I sure do love power-mad nutjob Chang...
"Magic user, baby" Chang from the AD&D episode is my favorite variety of Chang...
Second episode was just OK. Surprising because it was Chevy Chase episode, but a lot of the humor fell flat and Joel McHale is just not likable. I know he's playing an unlikable jerk who's supposed to be coming around, but he's just not pulling it off and isn't recommending the series very well. Does it really get better as it goes?
It does... it really, really does... first season episodes about the debate club, paintball, pool, chicken fingers and Christmas, to name a few, are hilarious... give it some more time... Joel will grow on you too...
Halloween episode, complete with Batman impression is beyond hilarious.
The chicken tender episode is 30 minutes of pure brilliance.
But the paintball episode? Perhaps the greatest 30 minutes in the history of network television. I believe all the networks should just quit permanently because it can never be topped.
Stick with it, for sure... I simply cannot imagine someone not growing to love this show and the entire cast (to one extent or another).
And we are not exaggerating about the chicken fingers episode and so many others.
And Cobie is right, the paintball episode is the single most perfect episode of any tv show ever.
Third episode was much better and had a more ensemble feel to it (ostensibly it was an Abed episode, but there was enough meat for everyone). So far the best parts of the show have been the throwaway bits during the credits, but there were few laugh out loud bits scattered throughout as well. I'm back on board now and looking forward to seeing where it goes.
I'm glad that after the "stunt-a-palooza" that was the first half of the season that they're focusing more on the characters and their interactions. I think this show, more than all others, tends to focus on disharmony within the group rather than the group dealing with the "whacky situation of the week." (see the afore mentioned "stunt-a-palooza")
I'm glad to see more Chang lately, but I agree that he's funnier when in a position of power.
OK, we're now hooked plowing through 2 episodes a night. The Halloween episode and the debate were both great. The episode where Joel moves in with Abed was just OK (but the Pierce/Vaughn stuff was really funny). Glad we stuck with it.
Xmas episode was great, but the follow-up flopped a little. Even Community can't make Jack Black funny.
I did like it when they were mean to him though!
Glad you're enjoying it!!
OK, so we've really enjoyed the show until this point, but I honestly wouldn't have said it is as completely hysterical as the hype led us to believe. Then tonight we watched the Abed's secret admirer/Jeff playing pool episode. I thought we would wet ourselves it was so insanely funny. Everything from Bagels through to the Bert & Ernie ending was laugh out loud funny.
being the best isn't always hysterical-- it's smart and clever too...
You still have some excellent episodes in front of you!
(I love that this is highlighted!!!)
Apparently Josh Holloway will be in this year's season finale, which is all kinds of awesome!
I forgot how funny the Abed secret admirer / Jeff playing pool episode was! Man, I've got to get the DVD season and rewatch.
When he decides to become "someone who could approach a girl" and goes into Vampire/Lizard mode, my wife nearly hurt herself she couldn't stop laughing. We had to rewind a few minutes to get the jokes we missed.
Yeah that was a hysterical scene!!
Ooooh, I really enjoyed this week's low-key episode... I think I enjoyed most the surprise ending with Pierce's ladyfriend.
I hope she sticks around.
It was nice to see a prominent role for Troy this week, doing something other than hanging out with Abed.

"I thought it was paint but I'm just bleeding. Talk about luck!"
Season 1 complete. Unfortunately Netflix.ca isn't carrying Season 2 concurrently with broadcasts, so we've got a bit of a wait ahead of us until we can get at the next episodes.
From your use of "unfortunately", I'm gathering you enjoyed the series... so glad!
Season 2 has also been excellent... the Halloween episode is a 22-minute zombie movie that rivals the coolest eps of season 1, and the Christmas ep is shot in old-timey "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer"-style claymation! and Dungeons and Dragons episode... oh, it's all such good stuff.
To be fair, there has been 1 "clunker" episode this season that I personally feel was a first for this series, but perhaps I will feel differently if I make myself re-watch the episode.
"Earn your money, whore!!"
Aaah, Chevy Chase, how you soothe my jangled nerves.
What episode did you think was a clunker?

Abed wasn't just impersonating a gigolo, he was channeling Don Draper from "Mad Men" and in true "Community-Meta" style, the actress who plays Annie is on "Mad Men" which makes it funnier when Annie says that Don Draper is the sexiest character on that show because her character is married to Don's coworker.
Sharky, I posted this on March 29th:

I can't even remember what else went on that episode; I need to rewatch to confirm wether this rates as Community's sole "clunker" episode to me.

Paintball #2 is already shaping up to be the best episode ever!!!
Brilliant... do I say that too often in this thread? If so, too bad... this show is BRILLIANT!
Oh Lord... I was gonna go to bed and watch this tomorrow... now I simply can't wait...
Utter magnificence. So glad there's at least 1 more episode this season. I didn't think they could top the first paintball episode, but I should have realized this is the brilliance of COMMUNITY I am watching... of COURSE the sequel is going to be even MORE awesome.
The Dean continues to get mucho laughs out of me... everything he does is ridonkulous and funny.
Vicki, Leonard, Fat Neil, Bully Michael, Star-Burns... so so many wonderful lower-tier characters that re-occur...
Not knowing the glory of COMMUNITY is one of the top 5 most horrible things I can think of.
"So why are you still dancing and get out of here?!"
"It's all I know!"
I literally laughed at the top of my lungs...which was one of many times.
Just finished the Season 2 finale... MEGA-AWESOMENESS. I even didn't mind Magnitude's re-appearance. POP POP
Chevy Chase I noticed is looking much more fit than he was... this makes me glad.
2 wonderful seasons, I can't wait for Fall!
"then I'll seen you at Denny's"
"the Denny's by the highway? I'm banned from there."
"then I guess I'll see you in hell"
I **DEMAND** Emmy recognition for COMMUNITY!
mr_cleome has gotten hooked on this show, so I've actually half-watched several eps. It's pretty entertaining. The first one we saw was the "My Dinner With Andre" ep, and then forward from there.
I did space out a little during the paintball saga, though. Sorry.
In a moment of total cameo-appearance crossover craziness, ABED appeared in part 1 of the COugar Town finale as the "worst extra ever".... totally floored me!
Do check it out on HULU or something if you want; there's 2 eps, a part 1 and a part 2!
So, did Abed suddenly run out of the scene because he had soiled himself?
I don't really know... it was just so OUT there...
About this season:
What the heck happened to that crazy doctor-who-makes-pottery-with-the-perfect-teeth guy that Annie was into and from whom Jeff was supposed to "learn how to be good for my own selfish reasons"? It seemed like they were setting something up with that storyline only to have it dropped. I hope they pick up on it again if only for closure's sake.
I like Doc Potterywood, so I do hope this happens!
Also... LOVING the love shared between Community and Cougar Town... I recently rewatched both series' most recent seasons... totes forgot about the Community ep where Abed is talking about being an extra on Cougar Town, which makes his actually being on Cougar Town all the more hella-awesome.
<------- Ready for Season 3!
Season 2 DVD out Sept 6 iirc...
*rolling pennies now*
And SEASON 3 begins 9/22!
S2 dvd already bought and being picked up tomorrow!!
Oh, COMMUNITY... you tease me with the idea of a musical episode!!
Your hilarious presence has been missed. Appreciate the continued Cougar Town cross-channel promotion as well.
Welcome back!
Gonna have to try this this year. Maybe I'll see if the library has any of the first season.
yay! It's tons of fun.
Also re: the premiere: Looks like Chang now has found a suitable role at the school since he is no longer Spanish teacher!
Now, to revisit my pals in Indiana over on PARKS & REC...
Chang as a student was just annoying... Chang as security guard has some potential... loved the musical opening... loved Cougarton Abbey... loved the bad Dr. Who parody... still hate Chevy Chase...
GASP!!! Chevy Chase is LOVE. I shan't rest until you see this.
Season 3 has seen NO diminishing of the greatness of COMMUNITY. It is still smart and it is still hilarious. EW called Parks and Recreation (which I also LOVE) the smartest show on TV, but I think COMMUNITY has it beaten.
Speaking of EW, this year they are FINALLY doing weekly recaps, which are often as much fun as the show itself!
Do check it out, it's streets ahead:
http://tvrecaps.ew.com/recap/community-season-3-episode-3/
Okay, the alternate reality ep (which I just saw yesterday) should win some kind of prize. It's not just my favorite ep of the show so far, I think it may be one of the best eps of anything I've ever seen-- EVER!
(And I suspect that somebody on the writing staff really dug the "Poker Game Alt. Reality" ep of ST:TNG. I can't prove it, of course...)
Yep, that was some EXCELLENT television. Season 3 so far is topping both 1 and 2.
Cle, did you catch the 2nd episode of this season, I think it was? It's the one where they even do an "Earth 2" type concept during Model U.N. Very JSA!!
The way that Earth-2 episode ends (the solution Annie & Abed come up with) is really just pure genius. I so wish I was doing a model UN now.
Tonight's Halloween episode continued the character-driven comedy that COMMUNITY has mastered. Season 3 is streets ahead of excellent.
I hope it runs as long as the SImpsons!!
Last night they were all funny, especially Annie (who I love) but for some reason Shirley just nailed it for me. I usually find her the least funny, but she was hilarious.
And is Britta getting dorkier as the show goes on? It might be making her hotter.
Poor Shirley usually has to play the thankless part of the 'straight man', but sometimes she gets to issue some good zingers.
Britta *is* getting dorkier, I love it!!
Speaking of the prize Cle mentions above, if COMMUNITY is again shut out of the Emmys this year, I call TOTAL BULLSHIT.
Though I am glad Parks & Rec and 30 Rock get Emmy love (and Cougar Town- which is also excellent ensemble fun- has been recognized by other award ceremonies), it is FAR PAST TIME for Community to score an Emmy nod. Abed, Annie and Pierce for acting awards and the show as a whole for best comedy.
THIS I DEMAND.
I'm with Lash.
I'M WITH LASH.

I just got done watching this one! I wish I could be Jeff for Halloween, but it's too late for me lose weight equivalent to an entire grown-up person.
I rarely attempt to try to fan-doodle real people (our LMB characters don't count, they're characters) but I *did* do a little COMMUNITY homage that I am kinda proud of!
I do love this show that much! Check it out:
http://lashlaugh.wordpress.com/2011/11/02/stop-not-watching-community/
It's about time they hooked up Pierce with the gays! Very amusing.
I'm surprised Daddy Hawthorne was still around, but don't shed any tears for his ivory-topped passing.
Just got caught up on the last three episodes!
Awesome!
Tits, weren't they?
Thank you
Hey everyone, don't forget to TINA TURNER your clocks back tonight!
KID CHAOS! Where have you been man!?!?!
Hey lash, you know just lurking about and stuff. I actually started watching community cause I saw you recommended it here. You got good taste!
Thank you! Great to see you back!
"Brought to you by that yogurt Jamie Lee Curtis uses to poop"
I'm so glad Annie, Troy and Abedare getting along! Hooray!!
Shirley, Britta and Jesus = hilarious!
And Dean Pelton... you devious little queen!
I think the Dean is lucky to be alive at this point. (Maybe we should chalk his behavior up to his pwning at the hands of John Goodman a few eps ago.)
BTW, I can't wait to see Goodman come back again. He's been one of my favorite actors since half past forever.
So... after the holidays COMMUNITY will be going on a hiatus of unspecified length while NBC moves some shows around.
UP ALL NIGHT is getting the equivalent of a promotion by joining Parks and Rec, The Office and the returning 30 Rock on the Thursday night lineup.
Whitney-- which is unfathomably getting higher ratings than both Community and Parks & Rec, and is considered a hit *shudders* ...is moving over to Wednesday nights to help bolster NBCs lineup there.
Looks like COMMUNITY will probably return later this season-- possibly when one of the newer shows fails miserably on their new night/time-slot.
Thursday nights with no COMMUNITY is going to be rough on me come January... I'm Abedlike that way... but I will watch it no matter what night NBC sticks it on when it does return.
If no return of Community I will Superboy Prime the NBC offices at 30 Rock.
2 minutes until new episode... each one seems like an even MORE precious thing to me now!
j'ADORE Abed-documentary episodes... and enjoyed this spotlight on everyone's favoriter insane Dean.

Troy and Britta?......yes.

But which one is Abed jealous of?[/b]Abed and Troy. Troybed.
Deep down, Troy knows it too.
So I was walking to class this morning and I totally saw someone who looks like Luis Guzman!

I MUST HAVE MORE INFO, EDE!!!!
Is he a fan of COMMUNITY? Or of the FULL FRONTAL FANDANGO? Is he a student, a teacher or a security guard? DISH, child!!!
I don't know! I just briefly saw him through a window in the parking garage!
I just bought the Season 2 DVD of Community so I'm doing my little part to keep this show on the air.
Enormous DVD sales are what brought FAMILY GUY back to Fox, so this is good! I remember reading awhile back that sales of COMMUNITY Season 1 were bigger than expected for NBC!
Some EMMY love this year would also help tremendously!!

I shoulda' gone to community college, too.
Another kick to Community's metaphorical shins:
http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/11/21/nbc-up-all-night-episodes/ While I think UP ALL NIGHT is cute, it is NO Community...
Up All Night is still finding its voice, but it's coming along.
Because of the comparably smaller main cast, I tend to think of it as less "sprawly" than Community, but in both cases I think the casting is good and the chemistry between the leads is a pleasure to watch.
Bah! Whitney sucks and Up All Night isn't on the same level. Community needs to exist!
So I just finished watching season 2 of this show and OhMyGod is it FUNNY!!! I ended up having to buy the first season too after my computer crashed and I lost all the episodes I'd downloaded and I am now going to lend them out to all my friends to get them hooked on this show too.
That paintball two-parter to end the season on was absolutley AMAZING! The first season's paintball episode was really great and then this one just took it to a whole new level. All the Western touches in the first part and then the Star Wars ones in the second had me in stitches. I totally second Cobie's shout out of Vicki's line about dancing on the table-top ("This is the only life I know") as being the line of the season. SO HILARIOUS!
I rewatched the entire first season straight after I'd finished it and I'm going to do it again with the second. There are so many great jokes and scenes that are just as funny the second time around.
All that said, there have been a few clunker episodes each season. I really hated that Psychology test storyline from the first season where Abed foiled Annie and Professor Duncan's test. I don't remember being a big fan of that Jeff pool-class episode either. This season had that Chang in jail episode and especially that Pulp Fiction/My Dinner with Andre episode that didn't work for me. So many of the others have been absolute gold though.
As for characters, Jeff and Annie are probably my favourites of the main bunch - but I love all the minor/side characters too, ESPECIALLY Dean Pelton! I don't think I have ever not found him funny in a scene.
Which brings me to my one big problem with the show -
Shirley. I don't think I have ever found her funny in a scene. She almost drags the whole show down for me. I have to fast-forward through almost every line she has when I rewatch first season episodes. I feel she became more likeable somehow in the second season but I still don't find anything about her, her storylines, or the actress playing her funny.
No show is perfect though so I can overlook that minor annoyance and appreciate the really top-notch creative/comedic brilliance that the rest of the show displays.
Wish season 3 would hurry up and finish over there so I can get that DVD too.
What, no comments about this week's episode?
Actually kind of "meh" for me.
I did think the anime foosball sequence was funny. And the ending with 'lil Jeff and 'lil Shirley walking off together was cute.
And now Annie seems to have the hots for abed. The only guy she hasn't had a crush on is Pierce.
Speaking of which we are *way* overdue for a Chevy-centric episode...
It was kinda meh, but meh Community is still better than just about everything else... I'm still in shock from the upcoming hiatus...
I do love when Troy goes all squealy, as in "You were supposed to tone us down!"
I think this episode suffered from not having señor chang or the dean. They tend to spice things up.
And I demand more Britta, who is my favorite character this season.
Yeah, I have to say that I liked the basic idea of the episode, but it kind of fell flat.
Too much Shirley--she's best used more judiciously I think to make her funny or heart warming.
Agree about Chang and the Dean. I'm still cracking up over the Dean going crazy director a few weeks ago.
Yeah the ep def. suffered from the lack of Dean and Britta!
I loved seeing Shirley in this capacity, actually. Seeing her sordid past as "Big Cheddar" kind of opened up a new little window on her personality.
I'll agree with that... I'm probably being too harsh on the episode. I think it was mainly the switch to 'Japanimation', which would have wowed on any other show, just fell flat with me on Community which is already head and shoulders above everything else. The episode didn't really need that bit of extra.
Aww, heck! Any ep with Abed as Batman is a winner!! Troy forcing himself to play along with Annie's wacky scheme was adorable.
I can't not love this show!!!
ATTENTION!!!
The best episode of the season is in progress right now!!!!
Every season there are fall on your face genius episodes! This is one.
'Baby Boomer Santa' is probably the greatest moment of my year.
boopdy doopdy doopdy doo- SEX!
I teared up at the end...
This one is going to need to be re-watched over and over for general awesomeness, and to catch all the little groovy lines!
A delightful recap of last night's episodes... and the comment section is full of Community-lovers in utter turmoil about this being the end for the foreseeable future:
http://tvrecaps.ew.com/recap/community-season-3-episode-10-christmas-glee/
Danny Pudi and Yvette Nicole Brown (Abed and Shirley) made awesome cameos on "Chuck" last week. Pudi was playing a "replacement Lester" and absolutely nailed Vik Sahay's mannerisms. It was really funny.
I guess Ryan "Captain Awesome" McPartlin was also on Community earlier this season as well (still waiting for Season 2 on Netflix).
Yay! It's now
totally confirmed that Community will be coming back at some vague, unspecified future time!
*HIGH FIVES EDE* This has totally made me smile!
Thank God!
Meanwhile, how crappy does that Chelsea Handler show look?

Haha, I know, right? When I saw the commercial I was thinking "how in the world did this get approved?"
Tonight is going to be SO WEIRD without COMMUNITY. While I already have love for 30 Rock, Parks & Rec and now The Office, I fear my enjoyment of "new kid on the block" Up All Night will be hampered by feelings of resentment!
I watched an episode of "Up All Night" last week to see what it was like (it was okay), but if I watch tonight I'm going to feel a little bit like I'm cheating...
I really like "Up All Night." Aside from the first couple of earlier shows, its humor is mostly character-based, the leads are all very likable and it doesn't try SO HARD to be clever like "Community" does, yet manages to be pretty funny.
Up All Night is good, but I still miss COMMUNITY.
This weekend I had an entire Season 1 of Community DVD fest, and really enjoyed watching it progress in scope and smarts and wit and cleverness.
Looking forward to doing the same with Season 2, which pretty much started off with the "bang" Season 1 grew to.
New episodes ARE currently being filmed, so this is great news. Still no word on a return date though...
BREAKING BAD star heading to COMMUNITY
For some reason I thought it was returning last night. When I realized I was wrong, my reaction was something akin to people in Los Angeles reacting when those cops who beat Rodney King were acquitted.
(too soon?
)
Useless Non Community-related Fact: I was waiting on the downtown bus mall after work that day, and a news anchor really did stick a mike in my face and demand my reaction for the viewers at home.
I vividly recall that it was, indeed, something like, "WTF?!?!"
i watch the soup. they have a funny community trailer on their website. and hulu has new animated community webisodes.
http://www.thesouptv.com/ http://www.hulu.com/community its called abed's master key.
its something until next thursday
UPDATE: hulu has the trailer too.
I am sooo glad "Community" is coming back soon. Really, it's the only show I watch the night it's broadcast. Well, that and "The Middle."
I always knew you were streets ahead, matlock!
And I wasn't disappointed!
I like how they are progressing the characters... Shirley is re-married, Pierce no longer at Hawthorne Wipes... changes to the status quo keep things interesting.
Poor Troy and Abed... even their normal is abnormal!
WELCOME BACK COMMUNITY!
GREAT NEWS, COMMUNITY FANS!
though ratings Juggernaut AMERICAN IDOL and some new Ashley Judd show got higher total numbers than Community, please take note:
This is FANTASTIC news-- as long as they continue to get high numbers amongst folks with penises who aren't too young or too old, a 4th season is IN THE BAG.
Although I should point out what I just realized-- BIG BANG THEORY (*huge* on CBS) did not run last night due to basketball.

While I am glad "Community" is back, I find myself tired of their antics. (I feel like a broken record) I prefer when they stick to the characters and their lives in a more human way. Last season seemed a bit split-personality, where certain episodes were "character episodes," some were "we're going to be sooooo clever now" episodes and the latter seemed to overnumber the former. I'll keep watching though because they are damn clever sometimes
As I understand, Jeff goes on antidepressants tonight and it has an interesting effect on his personality! MISS IT NOT.
I like Jeff better clean-shaven. (But I may be the only one. Who knows?)
Also, I may never look at apples the same way again...
The Dean's reaction to seeing anti-depressant Jeff was beyond hilarious!
I realize the value of moving the characters forward, like having Troy realize that Abed's near inablity to distinguish fantasy from reality is becoming a problem. But sometimes I just want them to make with the funny. At least enough to keep people interested enough for 6 seasons and a movie.
Tonight's episode was fantastic!
I also loved tonight's episode and feel it was a return to pre-hiatus heights.
Subway- the original Rick version- is my new favorite character. I HATE THE NEW SUBWAY, Blah! That bastard! I hope Rick/Subway finds his way back to Greendale! *dreamiest of sighs!!*
I love episodes that feature a lot of the 2nd-tier characters (even Magnitude, whom I have warmed to) and this one fit that bill.
I also firmly approve of the introduction of Kim. You remember Kim... right...?
Kim and Todd need to team up!
These are dark days indeed for Troybed, though...
Tiny-nips Owen, Subway-Rick and Jeff need to team up in an episode that I already predict will be THE BEST THING EVER.
Kim kinda looks like Mark Zukerberg.
I'd already loved Joel McHale from THE SOUP but I admit Chevy Chase was probably my biggest initial draw to check out COMMUNITY when it premiered. My Dad *always* loved Chevy Chase movies and I have fond memories of enjoying those films with him.
So I doubly hate to hear of these backstage dramas involving Chevy. I can understand that it probably IS difficult for him, being the oldest star of the show (not counting Leonard, LOL).
Interesting backstage COMMUNITY drama (also some good news too) revealed HERE:
http://www.deadline.com/2012/03/chevy-chase-in-feud-with-community-creator-dan-harmon/
This past Thursday's episode of COMMUNITY was NBC's highest-rated show:
http://insidetv.ew.com/2012/03/30/ratings-idol-rises-big-bang-slips-community-steady/ Of course, NBC struggles in general ratingswise, but this is still very good news. I predict an official Season 4 greenlight announcement coming SOON.
But then the question becomes-- will PIERCE be a part of Season 4?
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/...l?ref=entertainment&ir=Entertainment I honestly don't know what to make of Chevy Chase or what he says. I can't tell if he's joking when he asks why would anyone care if Pierce came back. If he isn't joking, it makes me a little sad to think HE thinks no one cares about the Pierce character.
Constable Reggie does get shown up by the Inspector way too often.
GASP!!!! No wonder I was so smitten with Subway-- I'd already been smitten with him FOR YEARS!
As Dr. Keith Dudemiester from SCRUBS!
I DEMAND HE BECOME A SERIES REGULAR!!!!!
Still watching the first season, since I hadn't seen it before.
Gah. I just
know that if I went back to college, all my teachers would be like Senor Chang. Only, y'know, not so forbearing and tender-hearted.
A fascinating 2004 article about Chevy Chase EW has brought back in light of recent events.
I was quite pleased to see most of the commentors were very quick to defend him, re: this latest 'scandal':
http://insidetv.ew.com/2012/04/03/chevy-chase-archive/
OH MY GOD THIS MIGHT BE THE BEST EPISODE EVER!!!!
The send up on Ken Burns and other war documentaries is spot on!
Leonard 'Bucket of Guts'! Bwahahahaha!
It's so funny I can't keep track of it all!
It was really really good and clever! So glad it's back!!
Just finished watching it! So many laugh out loud moments!
I'm def. goin go have to re-watch on HULU tomorrow to catch things I missed!
Pierce switching sides!
Shirley was great this episode!
Chang & the Changlorious Basterds!
Neil on the radio!
But really, it was all the clever little side jokes that were so quick you'd almost miss them.
"I'm giving you an all tomato"
I think the "Leonard likes this" was what really sent me into the floor in a fit of giggles!
The bad news: COMMUNITY ratings were at a series LOW last night. Which normally would be really REALLY bad news except for...
The good news: It was still NBC's most-viewed and highest-rated show of the night:
D'awwww! Tonight's episode was really sweet, and felt like one of the most balanced characters-wise I've ever seen. Everyone seemed to have their proper amount of screentime and funny lines.
Much better this week than last (for me.) I was just uneasy with equating Troy & Abed's fued with, you know, the Civil War. I get that it was a Ken Burns spoof, and it worked great on that level. But spoofing Ken Burns might have done better in a sports related episode, a la "Baseball." Plus the resolution of Troy/Abed was wrapped up a little too quick. I'm guessing it's not totally over.
This week was a good return to a stand-alone story. I guess it moved along the John Goodman subplot but beyond that it was just good old fun for once. Jeff's obsession with Blade, Pierce and Chang, and even an appropriately funny use of Annie's past issues as she tried to help Britta. Well done!
Tonight looks like it will be a must-see episode.
OnDemand describes it as:
'Annie and Abed spend some quality time together in the Dreamatorium for a stimulation of "Inspector Spacetime". The exercise takes a turn toward the serious, however, with examination and insight into Abed's personality.'
Also, *finally*, a new episode of Parks and Rec.
GASP! I went out drinking instead of watching, I'm such a bastard!
Fortunately, I have both COMMUNITY and PARKS AND REC plus 30 ROCK locked into my DVR! *AND* a HULU subscription in case soemthing messes up! (I can't risk missing my shows you know).
Rented Season 2, Disc one. Commence watching....
YAY!!!! Can't wait to hear your comments.
re: Thursday's episode, of course I loved it but while sitting there watching, I thought to myself: 'People who don't already love this show would NEVER be into this episode...'
Agreed... not exactly a good intro episode, but pretty sprockin' cool nonetheless...
First few episodes were a mixed bag. I didn't like the Abed as Jesus episode, which to me had the most potential and just fell a little flat. Pierce's dead Mom and Jeff's law School buddy episodes weren't up to snuff for me. I really liked the KFC/Space episode with the new school flag. The Zombie episode was fun, but seemed like there was a lot of potential they missed (though my wife laughed out loud when Chang threw the skate and got Annie bit). Betty White made and otherwise forgettable first episode (and the Troy/Abed/Betty rap was great).
Wow... I thought Season 2 was very very strong from the get-go and am surprised to hear some of these criticisms, especially the missed potential of the zombie episode? I found that to be 21 minutes of complete zombie/viral plague comedy genius...

"Jeff" as the sexxxeeee TV doctor? Priceless.
Started into Disc Two and the things are starting to click again. The pen episode was great for a "Bottle" episode, and the Trampoline/Bitches episode was pure awesome. We had to pause to see all of Abed's Robocop readouts. The Conspiracy/Blanket Fort episode was also really funny, especially the endless shootings, which could have been annoying, but they played it extremely well. We both think that Annie's comedic timing and play have been really strong this season.
So I'm thinking to myself, "Why the heck would they cast Malcolm Jamal Warner as Shirley's husband? He's way too young." Then I realised, no, no he's not, I've just gotten very old.
Law & Order spoof!
8 minutes in and this might be the single best episode of the series so far. Oh my God it is so spot on.
This episode is sprockin' brilliant!!!
The subtle bits are so good! Troy & Abed's strut;
Annie & Jeff eating Chinese food; Neal stacking files while talking with his back turned. Perfect parody so far!
Now that was an amazing episode... pitch perfect... including the ending...
Wow, I never realized how formulaic Law and Order was...
A brilliant parody! But where's Chevy?
Donald Glover is on the live 30 Rock episode! Hillarious!
I have never ever seen any LAW AND ORDER shows (procedural police shows interest me as much as having an anvil fall on me would) But the Community version: It was hysterical!
No mention of the surprise DEATH at the end?
According to Dan Harmon, this death will affect the rest of this season in a big way! Read about it here:
http://insidetv.ew.com/2012/04/27/community-law-order-death/
"Your class has been CAN CAN-celled"
I was just weirded out when the Dean appeared in regular clothes during the "L&O" episode. For a minute, I thought we were in for another parallel universe story...
It was hysterical when Garrett got pepper-sprayed!
Also notable: the return of the ugly yet really hot pizza delivery guy... the pizza delivery guy who is so hot and ugly that you are both repulsed and turned on the whole time you make out with him!
He is now COMMUNITY's best 6th-tier character

The harried file clerk who really doesn't give a rip was a classic L&O go-to character! Neal was a good choice. And getting Leslie Hendrix to cameo as the M.E./botanist was awesome.
This week's episode was pretty good - Chang's arc this year has given him something to do beside just being a wretch. And Annie flipping out is always fun.
So, one of the dudes in this
Nineties "Beer Ad" should look very familiar to you.
I'll be so disappointed if there's no Dean-costume montage...
GASPS AT MAJOR LOST-like TWIST!
Lash! Your purgatory theory about Community was right all along!
I hope they didn't give away the ending to LOST!!!
This episode has been TITS so far!!
Love the orderly getting into baby boomer Jesus!
THE GOOD NEWS: Season 4 is CONFIRMED!
LESS GOOD NEWS: It's only a 13-episode order, there is a possibility that Dan Harmon and/or Chevy Chase will not return and it may be switching to another night.
http://insidetv.ew.com/2012/05/10/nbc-renews-community/
Fall schedules are set for later this year, and COMMUNITY's 13-episode 4th season gets a pretty big change of airday:
I dunno how it will do but I will certainly be watching.
I'm just glad we're getting a fourth season.
Isn't 4 the magic number for syndication?
Honestly, only a few years ago, any show on a Friday was a definite 'pass' for me. But these days, I'll probably check in on as many eps as I can. (Luckily its only 8:30).
KC, I think the 'magic number' for syndication is the # of episodes, not the number of seasons. That being said, a fourth season usually means a show has hit that special number, which is something like 70.
I am curious to see how well it does now that it doesn't have to struggle against BIG BANG THEORY.
by the way when are we gonna see MLLASH's backside?
1.5-hour season finale is GO!!!
And this first episode KICKS ASS NINTENDO STYLE!!! *squeals*
That video game episode was brilliant! Shirley and Annie in the blacksmith shop was hysterical!
The science of faking your death!!!
#sixseasonsandamovie
Oh my goodness, that was fun. I'll be looking forward to Friday nights this September.
It was pretty awesome having three eps in one night. Each one totally different yet awesome.
SHOULD the show have ended with season 3?
Dan Harmon may come off as an asshole, he may in fact BE an asshole... but COMMUNITY seasons 1, 2 and 3 have been very much HIS vision.
He has been fired from his show. Details from the man himself:
http://danharmon.tumblr.com/post/23339272200/hey-did-i-miss-anything
Imo, this is much more devastating to the show than losing Chevy Chase (or some of the other actors even). Sucks.
I've heard that Dan can be a pain to work for, but when the final product is as near-genius as COMMUNITY, you've gotta set aside the time he yelled at you to rewrite a scene or whatever, and then just celebrate the excellent finished product! However-- I can understand not wanting to be yelled at too. For me, as a fan and not an insider, I just wanna see my favorite TV show maintain its quality!
However, I have further doubts that it will be able to now... writer Chris McKenna (responisble for such brilliance as this season's 'Remedial Chaos Theory' episode and the sole remaining season 1 writer) has quit now.
Have we, the fans of COMMUNITY, entered the DARKEST TIMELINE????
I will certainly be interested to see how Season 4 holds up!
Honestly, not to rain on your parade, but I've thought this season was horrible. I struggled through a bunch of episodes and think it's become so self-indulgent to become a parody of itself. (and not in a good way)
Harmon leaving actually gives me a little bot of hope that the next season will be a little more of what the show used to be in season 1.
While I hate to hear someone doesn't care for something I just adore, I can certainly see why you might feel that way. I get the whole 'pardoy of iteself' you speak of-- but I think Community's parodying of itself is sheer genius.
I think it evolved beyond its early roots into something TV has never seen before.
And I'll be rooting for it all the way through season 4, no matter what happens. I wouldn't necessarily mind a return to less meta storylines myself.
Season 4 premiere date announced:
HEADS UP, HUMAN BEINGS! Season 4 premieres Friday, October 19 at 8:30/7:30c! Can’t wait to see you back at Greendale! --via COMMUNITY on Facebook
I'm over all the backstage drama and can't wait to revisit Greendale again!
Season Premiere on my birthday! Oh yeah!
That's a great present!!
3 months 'til season 4!
Meanwhile, here's some COMMUNITY ComicCon news:
http://insidetv.ew.com/2012/07/13/community-panel-at-comic-con-time-to-go-home-with-pierce/
SEASON 3 DVD dropped today. I plan to buy tomorrow.
So, it seems the Season 4 premiere will spoof THE HUNGER GAMES. Joel McHale had this to say, which totally tickled me:
Gasp!! The gang is going to a comics covention? That's going to rock!
Season 2 now on Canadian Netflix. "We want Drugs! We want Drugs!"
Jeff: "Nice sweater."
Andre: "My father gave it to me."
Season 4 launch is officially in LESS than one month! I have TWD on the 14th and Community on the 19th... I'm going to like that week, a lot.

Sweet spot would be the preferred outcome. NBC has already realized NOTHING is going to upset the ratings behemoth that is BIG BANG THEORY (though BBT's appeal is certainly lost on me), not even critical darling (and super-awesome) 30 ROCK:
30 ROCK premiere rating LOWER than COMMUNITY
Bah. I just found out about this.
I may just never watch an NBC show again until Community is restored!
(Maybe just Parks and Rec)
ps/ This also means if you aren't watching COUGAR TOWN-- you aren't as cool as Abed!
From TV Guide.com :
http://www.tvguide.com/News/VIDEO-Community-Cast-Premiere-Date-1054857.aspx Greendale Gang comments on the spiritual nature of "October 19"
FINALLY a premiere date, assuming they don't change it AGAIN:
http://insidetv.ew.com/2012/10/30/community-season-4-debut-date/ Of major note is it will be taking the place of 30 Rock, which ends after a 13-episode season, in its old Thursday night slot. Which is great, except we know nothing on NBC can win that timeslot.
More than likely, this will be it for COMMUNITY... unless a COUGAR TOWN-esque miracle happens, and a cable network buys out the show... (After ABC cancelled Cougar Town, TBS snatched it up)
I would probably be ok with 4 years and out if this much-delayed season is on par with the first 3. One good thing about this show is that it didn't seem to need an entire season to find it's "voice." It got a little more up front with the pop culture references over the years but it didn't need a half-season to get going. "The Office" took a while to get going and went on too long. I don't want that to happen to Community.
Still meandering through Season 2. We got to the fake clip show last night. Comedy gold.
Got through the awesome two-part Season finale (Fist Full of Paintballs and For a Few Paintballs More). So many really funny bits, but the part that stands out the most: Alison Brie was crazy off the wall in both comedy and the general hotness factor in those two episodes.
Three stellar episodes in a row in tonight's season 3 viewing:
- The "Hearts of Darkness" parody was dead on. Plus Luiz Guzman!
- Foosball/Dark Knight was a pitch perfect episode even without Pierce and Britta. They play a lot of Foosball in my office, so all the dumping on it really cracked me up.
- I always liked it when they take pot shots at Glee, so a whole Christmas episode devoted to it was awesome. The Dr. Who Christmas special was great too.
Saw the wedding and the impersonator episodes last night.
Wedding wasn't laugh out loud funny, but OK. The impersonator episode was pretty great though, with the highlight being uber-Jeff sending the Dean into convulsions.
Season 4 premiere THIS COMING THURSDAY!!
Tomorrow! The big question: watch it live, or wait until I'm good and loaded and watch it on Friday at midnight?
Still not done season 3 yet, so onto the DVR this will go. Saw the Pillows vs. Blankets episode last night. Epic.
J'adored greendale babies. I've totes got changnesia about why I was ever worried about Season 4.
Just jumping in to say how brilliant the Law and Order episode was. We were huge Law and Order junkies back in the day, and the episode was unbelievable in how it nailed the camera work and mannerism. It's my wife's new favourite episode.
It's a contender for mine too, Dave. Brilliant.
Opener for season four was solid. The Dean definitely brought the funny. Definitely more set up for the season than crazy humor but no complaints here.
*looks around*
Anyone else?!? I promise, I can handle it if you didn't like it.... *grips ashtray*
Sorry Lash, Still working on season 3. Should be caught up by next week.
I know Sharky must have watched!
Went on a marathon tear to catch up. I'd say the premiere was just OK, Probably because I had just watched three other episodes in the same sitting and they had more laugh out loud moments. I'm finding Abed's deteriorating mental health isn't generating as much hilarity as it did when he was more borderline, so yet another journey into his brain wasn't a rewarding way to start the season for me.
The backstory of how disgruntled Chase is really helps to see why Pierce has become such a muddled and lifeless character. You can really tell he's not putting much into it.
I know Sharky must have watched!
Why yes, yes I did... and I thought the season premiere space-rawked!
There were some funny parts, but that was definitely the weakest of the Halloween episodes they've had.
OK, the Con episode was definitely a step up. Loved the Pierce version of Dr. Space Time.
I almost feel like I'm distancing myself from COMMUNITY because I'm pretty sure-- given the more-wretched than usual ratings-- that this is it.
It doesn't help that all the holiday episodes are months late... (there is a Thanksgiving episode coming up).
I suppose I could just consider that part of the quirky charm this show has always had.
Tonight's episode was pretty enjoyable, my favorite of the Harmonless episodes so far! The Germans make for fun antagonists and The Dean and Chang were changsterically deanlicious.
Last night's episode of Community was one of the funniest effin' episodes of any tv series that I have ever seen... just sayin'...
The Chang episode was pretty good, though it was a bit of a waste of Jeong, as he was required to not be outrageously over the top.
Britta Perry "Basically, a therapist"
"Telegram!"
(Am I the only one watching anymore?)
Sophie B Hawkins Dance = brilliance
It was a good episode. Pierce got to be a character again, Britta was funny and Jeff was a jerk. Shirley and Annie got a bit of short shrift in service of Abed's plotline, but the payoff was great.
Still trying to catch up here. Only seen one new episode so far this year. Since the weather's so foul here this weekend, I'll try to do something about that.
I never did post it here, but COMMUINTY Season 5 was greenlit and Dan Harmon is in talks/very likely to return!
This is fantastic news! While I liked season four, I couldn't help but feel it was a lot weaker than the prior three seasons. Dan Harman was really missed! Kudos to Joel McHale to rectify this.
Can't say I'll miss Chevy Chase all that much. As proven, Harmon is much more important to the show. I wouldn't mind if Pierce Hawthorne continued to appear, but he's not vital to my enjoyment.
Season 4 DVD drops tomorrow, and I shall be purchasing it!
*BUMP so I can find it easier next year as the SEARCH function simply does not work for me*
Saw the first episode, but was pissed off that the second aired immediately afterwards so the PVR didn't get it. The third (last weeks) is still on the PVR. The Re-pilot was fun, although not incredible, but I did like the continued reference to "that" season of Scrubs.
Love it so far--a return to form!
Last night's ep definitely felt like Harmon was back at the reigns! The sperm gag slayed me by the end of it, and I even liked the great/perfect excuse for Troy to leave the show (although I'm still a bit annoyed that he IS leaving)...
REALLY liked last night's show. I'm with Lash...the setup for Troy's departure is perfect...but I don't want him to go.
So..... a high-ranking NBC exec was recently grilled about certain NBC shows' odds on getting renewed...

Love Walt Goggins. That last scene was great.
Caught up on episodes 3 & 4 and they were both fun. Despite my love of Sherlock, Monk, etc. Abed's joke about the autistic super-detectives was great.
Still kicking myself for missing episode 2, especially because it looks like it introduced Jonathan Banks, another favourite, to the cast.
I found the "Hot Lava" episode too much of a re-hash of past paint-ball/blanket fort episodes to really get into it much.
But the Billboard/Dance/Game of Thrones episode was great! Buzz and Annie make a great pairing, and more fully integrating Duncan and Chang into the group should be fun. Obviously, all the guest stars were a riot.
Great episode this week. Moving Abed's character back in a more human direction is a good idea, he had some good cracks at Annie's brother. I know we were due for a Shirley episode, and this was pretty funny. The part where she and Buzz take out Jeff was a hilarious take on previous Jonathan Banks' roles.
NBC is quickly becoming the DC Comics of television networks!
Yeah, they're just the worst of the big 4.
Sharky, I think it's Yahoo that also brought Arrested Development back.
NETFLIX brought back ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT, and COMMUNITY will be YAHOO SCREEN's first "original" series. New eps coming early 2015 which will be here before you can swing a cat!!
I'm very happy that YAHOO SCREEN is an app on my smart TV, but i'm concerned it won't be captioned. I'm NOT deaf, but I am hearing impaired enough that captioning is a great relief and enables me to relax a bit without concentrating 100 perfect focus on one thing for extended lengths of time at high volume levels.
It's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!
My TV's YahooScreen app sucks, BTW, so I'm watching on my laptop (and it IS captioned!)
And you can watch Season 6 episodes 1-2 RIGHT NOW. Click below.

Tell me how it is please, I'm a-scared to look.
I very much enjoyed eps 1-2! Haven't seen 3 yet.
