I look around, and I keep hearing conflicting stories on what Waid and Kitson are planning to do. The two of them have been notoriously tight-lipped about this, though I'm willing to bet that we'll know more soon, since the San Diego Comic Con is next week. Usually, some of the bigger news-bombs are dropped there.

Honestly? Part of me is still a bit worried, despite being told often to have faith in Waid. I won't prattle on about that, here.

I...well, what I keep thinking is that this is not a 'reboot' in the sense of 'we're starting all over, again.' Maybe a change in the Legion's status-quo, but it will acknowledge everything that happened before it in post-boot continuity (which DnA had some trouble with.) I don't think they're going the other route, removing everything and beginning again.

The Titans/Legion One-shot? Merely to explain where in Titans continuity Kon-El got shunted into the 31st century, and getting him back to his original time. Some time travel, but no universal collapses, no time warps, no Elseworlds, no Hypertime, ect. Um...what I mean is 'none of that messing with the continuity already in place.' The multiple villans in the cover of the aforementioned one-shot, that could be...heck, I'm not sure. smile

Just wanted to get that off my chest, really. Not meaning to start an arguement.

Don't worry about it, Elsewhere, it's great that you're sharing your views. I really hope you're right about it not really being a reboot, too.

I kind of agree with all your worries Elswhere but as far as I've seen - admittedly limited - of Waids writing it's been fairly decent, he's on record as being a Legion lover and Barry Kitsons art is quite pretty too so as hard as it is my only suggestion is to have faith.

I don't believe that any of the pros who visit here openly like Messers Kitson and Lightle, or Gail and Mechana would show face unless they were 100% behind their work.

Still it is a worry innit?

Elsewhere, accept the fact the creators are doing everything they can to prevent us from figuring it out and are deliberately trying to create a sense of anxiety. Don't take their bait. Just assume the worst. Then when it turns out to be only half-bad, you'll be relieved.

I would replace the word "anxiety" with "anticipation."

It's like a dentist appointment for a root canal.

like it or not, it's coming; worrying about it too much beforehand makes it worse, spreading out the pain in advance.

Since Barry's had the fortitude to stick his nek out here on the board, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Hmm, when is a reboot not a reboot?

I wonder if they're going to reboot the UP without changing the Legion? The Legionnaires would remember all the past issues, but they'd be in a new universe. Like in Crisis of Infinite Earths when all the alternate Earths were merged but the heroes still remembered when they all existed.

That would allow for a lot of tweaks (no more Cub, Zoe could wake up human) without changing the memories or relationships of the characters.

No sense worrying about what may or may not come about - just stay tuned.

I would caution about creative teams who "love" the Legion. The TMK team "loved" to rape, mangle and maim the Legion to a point even the editors had to step in and reboot the carnage.

I hope we see intelligent and thoughtful Legion stories this coming year.

I think I said it elsewhere, but I have faith in Mark Waid. And, having come across a few of Barry's credits while poking other beloved series, I'm optimistic there.

Granted, having just gotten my hands on the complete Kingdom Come doesn't hurt. The characterisation was, in my opinion, fantastic and absolutely realistic. So Mark is floating high on a tide of awe in my eyes at the moment.

I'm getting more optimistic as time goes on, I must say.
