Marvel Girl - to help train her in usage of her powers to prevent the Dark Phoenix Saga. Said recruitment hotly debated among the Legion, as many argue history cannot be changed.

Young Reed Richards - team-up with Brainiac 5!

Patsy Walker - Ultra Boy and Superboy scope her out to see if they can date one of the grooviest gals of the 1960's! Undoubtedly the becomes Ultra Girl for an issue!

Bucky - though they know he'll tragically die at the close of WWII, they are able to recruit him to have some sci-fi adventures so that his reputation in the 31st Century rivals that of Captain America's in the 21st!

The entire Shiar Imperial Guard? Nah, too easy.

Nightcrawler and Storm! Nah, also too easy.

Justice and Firestar always had a very 'Legion' feel to them, to me, as did some of Busiek's later additions to the Avengers, such as Triathalon and Silverclaw.

The earlier New Mutants (Rahne, Sam, Dani, Roberto, Xian) also felt very 'Legion Academy.'

Total oddballs;

El Aguila or La Bandera. Some of the later additions to Alpha Flight (Purple Girl, Hardshear, Flex, Radius, Madison Jeffries, Diamond Lil).

Assorted also-ran mutants, either Acolytes, Morlocks, Tunnelers or 'NPCs';

Unuscione, Frenzy/Joanna Cargill, Scaleface, Scanner, Cecilia Reyes

Does the New Universe count? Cause the entire cast of D.P.7 would make interesting Academy students.

Krystallin and Meanstreak, from the X-Men 2099.

The Super-Pets would pal around with Lockjaw.

Which means Crystal would join (back when she was dating Human Torch, probably).

Cypher and Magma from the New Mutants would make cool Legionnaires, too. Along with Cannonball, in particular.

Another oddball choice for the Super-Pets would be Catseye. She could have a torrid love triangle with Cham and Proty.

For a newer character, maybe Cloud 9? Pre-cynical assassin mode.

It'd be more fun to see who they'd shoot down in flames at a tryout. Brainy and Saturn Girl at their bitchiest would be musts.

Ooh, and Redwing (Falcon's hawk) and Zabu (Ka-Zar's sabertooth tiger) and Lockheed (Kitty's space dragon) and one of the winged horses (Dani's valkyrie horse, perhaps?)!

Cosmo and Rocket Raccoon, would be must-haves...

Spider-Ham? Not so much.

Spider-Ham, Spider-Ham, can do anything a spider-pig can do...

Doug Ramsey was *made* to be a Legion Reject!

And then he goes all 'dark cipher,' changes his name to Enigma, and expands his power to confuse the language centers of others brains, so that he can just talk to someone and totally paralyze them, change their perceptions, etc...

Squirrel Girl, "And I can talk to squirrels!"

Brainy, furiously stabbing 'Reject' button over and over.

Saturn Girl, whispering to Brainy, "You can only vote to reject her once, Querl. Ease up before you break the console."

No Marvel character should EVER taint the LSH!!

I dunno..maybe a young Sub-Mariner (pre dubya-dubya aye-aye) or for that matter I could see Brainiac experimenting with an old android he dug out of storage and reviving the original Human Torch.

Speakng of Torches, I'd like to see Johnny Storm and Ultra Boy get into a he man/testosterone driven/who's-a-bad-boy competition.

But they'd have to be given new names too.

Cypher = Linguistic Lad
Mirage = Psychic Girl
Nightcrawler = Demonic Boy
Magma = Volcano Girl
