Not all of these ideas originated with me but if I liked 'em, I used 'em. My apologies to the original 'thinkers' for not noting their names to give them credit.

I make no claim that any of my ideas are the best way to go with these characters, but being a huge pre-boot fan, I did try to include all my old faves as well as the new post-boot kids.

Also, I tried to list adult codename options wherever suitable.

ALCHEMIST: Xao Jin's (formerly Dragonmage) essence in Jan Arrah's (formerly Element Lad) crystal body, magically reformed to Jin's appearance.
Homeworld: Earth
Powers: Jan's transmutation and Jin's occult knowledge.
Love Interests: Mysa, Monstress II

ANDROMEDA: Laurel Gand in all her amazon glory!
Homeworld: Ricklef II
Powers: The whole Daxamite package plus the ability to absorb and redirect energy.
Love Interests: Brainiac 5, Rond Vidar

ANIME: Somi Gan/Gan Somi
Homeworld: Lallor
Powers: Can animate 2-D images into tangible 3-D constructs. Carries a deck of Lallorian divination cards.

APPARITION: Tinya Wazzo
Homeworld: Bgtzl
Powers: The only changes to Tinya I've considered are maybe broadening her powers to include massing like the Vision or that guy from Mutant X. Maybe the codename Phase would work better if her powers changed.
Love Interests: Ultra, of course, but their love should occasionally be threatened by outside temptations and even affairs (Timber Wolf)

BABBAGE: Make this Cadet a Legionnaire.
Homeworld: Robotica
Powers: I'm not sure if any abilities have been established but I picture this guy as the Legion's Iron Man - a technological armory.
Love Interests: Gear, Quislet

BLOK: I think his alter ego should be Dag Wentim (formerly Stone Boy), if it isn't already.
Homeworld: Zwen (Stone Boy's home) or Zuun (Timber Wolf's old planet), because it sounds niftier.
Powers: Transforming himself into a massive man-mountain and possibly some tectonic plate-shifting powers.
Love Interests: White Witch

BRAINIAC 5: Querl Dox
Homeworld: Colu
Powers: 12th-level intellect and personal inventions, such as his force field belt. I wouldn't change the genius of this character, other than to have him slightly more proactive, possibly leading more science missions to explore anomalies, etc. (think Mr. Fantastic)

CHAMELEON: Reep Daggle

Powers: His standard Durlan shapeshifting powers.

Notes: Bring back his detective skills. R. J. should definitively be revealed as J'Onn J'Onzz and take Cham under his wing, mentoring him from his millenia of experience.

CHUCK TAINE becomes REBOUND

Powers: His standby inflation/bouncing always worked for me but maybe this time his powers should be more like Marvel's Speedball.

DAWNSTAR: Bring her back, PLEASE! Shikari's okay but I miss Dawny and Starhaven.

Powers/Notes: Bring her back as a deadly bounty hunter that eventually sides with the Legion. Give her the power to heal others from near mortal injury and some self-regeneration.

I would, however, have her be a catalyst/curse unto her people that causes an Orandii planet-wide mutation into half snake forms.

Powers: Typical triplication BUT mutate her powers into multiple self-replication. Keep the 3 dominant personalities and let the other replications function as drones.

ALL-NEW WANDERERS: What if M'Onel, known for his solitary sojourns into deep space picked up a few allies along the way?
Calamity ~ Brita "Kono" An'nan of Sklar with 'luck' powers (gifted/cursed by the Luck Lords?)
Celebrand ~ An enigmatic mentalist/logician who would eventually betray the team and become an arch-foe to M'Onel.
Mandala ~ Deadly assassin who uses her complex 'thought-spheres' to pacify her targets before she kills them.
Typhoon ~ An updated Storm Boy with internalized weather-controlling powers. Also an homage to Cockrum's Outsider.
The Westerner ~ The frontiersman who gains his strength from the masses.

I *really* like the Andromeda/Night Girl pairing reminiscent of Power Girl/Huntress... and Supergirl/Batgirl going even further back.

Maybe those two could be the founders of a 'new' SUBS?

DARTALON & ELVAR as a fantasy-based sword and sorcery duo is money! I've always been pretty bored by those two members of THE WANDERERS... this little snippet of a description makes me see them in a new way. Thanks.

As an ELEMENT LAD fan, I'm not too keen on grafting yet another hero into Jan... but I like a lot of your other ideas!

Fun list, Miss T! A good mix of the familiar and the new. I liked the love interests - especially Evolvo's!

Is Dragonfly (Wildfire's love interest) Dawnstar?

I liked the Andromeda/Night Girl team-up, too - love those vigilantes! - it would be good to see various heroes operating outside of the Legion.

Also liked the character Re-Animage - talking with the dead - is that your own invention? - and the use of some magic/supernatural -based heroes.

Thank you Cramer! 'Dragonfly' is Shikari who may or may not have been DnA's reboot version of Dawnstar. Her similarities to Dawnstar include the infamous tracking sense and winged flight. Additionally, her last name is Lonestar.

However, there are enough differences between Dawny & Shikari to make them two separate characters, much like Princess Projectra & Sensor the half snake could be 2 different characters.

I can't seem to recall Re-Animage's exact powers from that 80s series and I typed up the 'talking with the dead' power to separate him from the 'healing powers' I gave Dawny. I don't recall him having those kinds of powers. I think the name Re-Animage is just too cool to forget, though. And Dartalon & Elvar are terrific, IMO!

As for magic users, White Witch is my favorite because of her ties to Nura so I had to use her.

Xao Jin is too valuable to lose because of his Asian ethnicity (racial diversity is important in the Legion, I think) but his powers duplicate the Witch's. So, since my intent was to take the current cast and build from there I decided Jin would fit better in Jan's body than Garth.

Zoe already had a magical origin.

And Val's 'weakness sense' is just meant to be a spiritual/new agey outreach of his martial skills.

Shikari=Dragonfly, of course - I'd read the list but forgot some of the details... makes sense with those dragonfly wings of hers. There has been some speculation here in the past as to whether the two winged ladies would be friends or rivals if they were on the same team... Thanks for the additional details!

I tried to tie together any and all Legionnaires (past & present) and Legion allies into one Legion.

Perhaps people would like to discuss the theorized love interests?

Are adult codenames necessary and if so are there better ones?

I kinda liked the light powers for Spark in SB's Legion - but I want her to stick with electricity in-canon. And I wish we'd seen her adjust to Jarth - how'd she manage with him being so different? Can she manage this time because it's him & not her that was changed?

Though Tenzil's one of my favorites, I gotta disaree about him being a full time member. Maybe he can be a SUB? Or change his powers slightly, to that of being able to project his digestive juices? Heh... we can call him HURL.


Andromeda just seems redundant though with the other powerhouses around, such as M'onel, Ultra-Boy (Emerald Dragon?), Thunder and Impulse.

I'd go with the vigilante idea with her and Nightgirl. Maybe they could be the 31st century's Nightwing and Flamebird?

I agree that Lamprey needs to be reworked and I love the 'Tsunami' idea!

Anime is just about the coolest codename idea, ever!

Questions: How functional would her power be in combat? Maybe she carries Lallorian tarot cards?
Would this power be better used for a human 'Projectra' character?

I agree, this would work for Projectra's new powers better than the 'Karma' powers would. That way they aren't that much of a stretch from the old ones.

I still like the Anime name though....

I like the idea of Jenni and Brek as a couple. They could use a little lovin' and they both have that boy/girl next door personality.

I love the list! The only thing I would really change there is to transform Kinetix back to her original self. Spark's light-based powers are a good idea, though for racial diversity I'd add Amp Girl in and give her the light powers, and keep the electricity for Ayla. Or maybe give Amp Girl some other kind of powers, since her current ones are pretty horrible.

Great ideas Miss T! I like most of them. Andromeda/Nocturna being pals is cool for the same reasons everyone here stated.

I like bringing is Dawnstar with some different powers and being a love interest of TimberWolf.

Not so keen on all the name changes but I like most.

I would make Dragonmage inherit the Starheart from Alan Scott. But your GL Celeste is pretty cool as well.

Also like that it has so many members. It's the Legion after all.

Great discussion Miss T. I like the Andromeda-Night Girl/Nocturna idea, So many people liked Andromeda, but I think there are enough Kryptonian-like powers in the Legion. Evolvo's love interest made me laugh, though I am generally puzzled by the desire to delve into the sexuality of so many characters.

I wonder with all the mystical characters when/if there will be a convergence of Science and Magic. It seems like the New Gods have mostly done this.

I always thought the biggest problem writers have had with Dreamer was that they could basically have her sitting around the HQ waiting for a precog flash so it's hard to justify bringing her along on a mission. Maybe some short term precognitive abilities would help(and I think they have been hinted at in the past, I just started reading again recently). Try fighting someone who knows what you are going to do a split second before you do it. As long as she has to focus for it to work, it wouldn't take away the possibility of surprising her, but it would come in handy in a fight or an espionage situation. With a power like that she would even be able to hold her own with Ultra or M'Onel in a short fight (granted eventually their strength and speed would probably win out) It would also help to make up for the fact that about every other long term prediction she has is "misinterpreted" .

This board is always so awesome for ideas and opinions, I really really hope that Waid is reading some of this stuff.
