My memory is horrible, but here are the issues of The Legion title that Gates (not his statue) has appeared in.

Legion #4, 6-8, 10, 18, 21-23, 32 & 33.

11 issues! Out of 38. Pfft. Half of them were just cameos too. He's been captured not once or twice but THREE times this series (Ra's imprisonment, Universo control, Credo POW). I tried to think of the other issues of the Robotica arc...surely he must have been in there after #10...but I can't think of a single panel. Still, that's a rather low number.

WE LOVE GATES!!

One of Gates´s finest moments is in the legion secret files #1, when he tried to get a job.
Others of my favourites too are his enconter with the metalmen ("So, the capitalist made you to reemplace the workers or only to terrorice them?"), his sopport to Cham during the Dark Circle saga (one of the few good things in that arc) and the legion saving him in issue #4.
I miss him, and I hope that he could be reimagined soon.

Gates is great! a power the Legion's been lacking and an alien with a personality! I loved the fact that Gates had real political ideals based on his differences with humans (sorry Greybird, but i don't think you're gonna win an arguemet about socialism with an insect. we must all band together against the grasshoppers.)
As much as i still love Blok and Tellus, their 'i will never understand these humans' line kinda irritated me. Gates is all 'i will never understand these humans and i DON'T CARE' gave him a lot more bite.

And a great visual too, an alien who wears clothes!

Gates was by FAR my favourite character in the reboot. I'm going to miss him immensely in the new series, but as others have pointed out, it's not like he was really around for the last three series anyway (Legion, Worlds and Lost).

So Waid co-creates both Gates and Xs (two of my fave reboot Legionnaires) and he doesn't make use of either of them?

Looks like I'm the only Gates hater here. Probably my least favorite character in the Legion's history.

I would be very dissappointed if he would appear before characters such as Wildfire or Blok.

I´m curious. Why do you hate Gates? But maybe would be better if you answer in another thread (Gates-hate-in?).

Anyone here want to fill out the Wikipedia Gates article? [I'm slowly working my way through the postbooters, but if anyone wants to do the one for Gates, feel free ]

Gates was good for the reboot. I did enjoy his character. However, if Gates were to come back, exactly how would he fit into the new LSH storyline where the kids are rebelling against what appears to be a "model socialist/utopian society?"

Would he again be the super-reluctant hero?

In any event, they need Gates no matter what. I mean, who else could they use as the comedy foil when a Legion cartoon comes out? Batmite and Orco have already been done before...

Lobo- from the love that Gates is getting around here I think I might be the only one in the Gates Hate-In thread. I'll have to say I'm quite surprised to see so many people loving him. I will definitly not try to stir the pot too much for fear of retribution.

The reason I dislike him? Everything from his design, to his powers to his constant diatribes against "the man."
He was just one of those characters that I loved to hate.
