Now that we've seen the last episode of the original series (here's hoping there'll be another), what did you think about it? Love it or hate it? Was it too far divergent from the comics or was it a marvelous tribute to the creativity of the comics legends of the 60's?

I (for one) loved Season One. We got the Subs, the LSV, Tryouts, ceremonies, the Fatal Five, comedy, tragedy, villiany, a heroic death and oh so many of the thrills that made the Adventure days live so long in our little boy/little girl hearts.

Our heroes were filled with hope for their glorious future and we were right there by their sides grieving over their losses and reveling in their wins.

Season Two brought a darker grittier Legion begun with tragedy and ended with betrayal yet still with both of those elements containing the seeds of triumph and eventual victory against impossible odds. Man vs. machine, success over self destruction, death and rebirth.

This was a grim and dark time for our heroes. We suffered with them and feared right along with them for the future of the all mankind and the Universe itself.

I know these won't be our last thoughts and certainly not our last discussion of the 'toon but why not get down your first impressions of the series as a whole? What did you think?

I think it was awesome!

As I've said before, this is easily the most satisfactory portrayal I've seen of the Legion in over a decade. Even most of the stuff I thought I'd hate at first, such as robotic Brainy, I actually came to really like.

The first season started out so-so, and then grew increasingly strong as it went along. The second season certainly had its faults, but when it was good, it was strong. And I didn't mind Superman X nearly as much as I thought I would, though Imperiax pretty much turned out to be a worthless villain.

I really appreciate the series as a take on the legion that stood on its own two feet, even though I also enjoyed it when they would put in a twist on a classic legion tale (like the sun eater).

I have to say I enjoyed season one better than two. Two just seemed to want to be telling a much larger tale than it ever could or did pull off. Plus, season one had the subs.

Two did have its own points of interest, though: I was glad to see that Nemesis Kid was still a legionnaire and was drawn in by how the visitor-from-the-future story was introduced.

Ultimately, I wish the series would have focused less on the "marketable" legionnaires and focused more on the diversity of the legion and the legion's universe. I'd be happy with another series at some point in the future, but would worry about it taking the same path.

...but, I'd probably watch it even so.
