The preview looks to be a pretty faithful update of the original. That was told from BB's perspective so it will be interesting to get CQ's point of view.

Comet Queen is a fun character. The artwork looks great. I think this issue will be very enjoyable.

Not sure what I think about retconning a story that's barely a year old, but at least it ties the current Legion arc to this one, but you'd think the Legionnaires would be a lot more upset with Saturn Queen during those early issues than they were.

So now do we root for a Comet Queen/Saturn Queen show down?

Other than that, the issue was good. There's too much potential here to just drop this group. DC better know what they are doing in September.

Wow, you really got to feel bad for Comet Queen.

When everyone was mentioning that she got back into the Academy, they made it sound like she did something horrible and then did something really, really amazing (But hard as hell and near impossible) to warrant a re-admission.

The solicit and previous in-story comments didn't really prepare for the issue as it came. The Saturn Queen thing felt like Paul Levitz needed a fill in and this was the best he could come up with in a short space of time.

I liked seeing the other two graduate but why didn't Power Boy and Lamprey graduate with them?

All in all this series now has the feel of a stretch-it-out-until-September run

Do they even bother to try to edit these things for mistakes anymore? The minor issue of Night Girl and Dual Damsel having both the wrong hair and costumes in the flash-back can be over looked. Incorrectly identifying Luornu as Duplicate Girl (which she had not yet become in that same flash-back) and having Glorith call Gravity Kid Nel (instead of Tel) just shows that they really don't give a flying rat's posterior about these characters. Looking at that piece of information, the fact that the entire story is impossible to fit into the original circumstances as depicted on-pannel without ignoring huge parts of one or the other becomes incidental.

Fabulous issue. I've always had a soft spot for Comet Queen. This issue broke my heart. Great work by Borges.

My biggest gripe - the panel right after Dragonwing is described as having fire breath and acid venom. Acid is shown flying out of her hands!! Ridiculous oversight!!

Comet Queen's dad looks to be a totally different species, which is kind of cool. Is she biracial? Does she take after her mother's species due to dominant genetics? Does her species have ridiculous amounts of sexual dimorphism? Did her mother re-marry? Who cares, it's just cool!

So with the news that new members are coming, I would guess Comet Queen in in based on this issue.

And weird question....is Glorith black?

I think Glorith is meant to be black, I don't know if that comes across in this issue so well though...

I didn't get that Glorith was black, at all.
Not even a hint, to me.
sigh

And I didn't really care for the art, at all, especially after Phil, but I enjoyed her story.

How is it that the Academy/Legion gets to decide where people are going after graduation?
She obviously disliked where she was sent and what she had to do.

I wouldn't want to join the Science Police like Mendalla did; or like Jed and Lamprey, sent to be prison guards, either.
Strange and sad events for all of them, including Grev.

On the plus side, I think Chuck's a hunk, too.
nod
And was he ever out of his element with her!
lol

I love Glorith's look. Love the brown skin and hair, the long ponytail, the purple cloak, the glowy marks on her face, the luminescent eyes. I also like her naiveté. Best new character to come along in ages. IMHO.

When I graduated my technical college long ago, we had a placement officer responsible for getting us jobs (paid internships with a chance of a job really), and even though most of us wanted jobs with big firms, that didn't happen. Most people took what they were given and made the most of it, because they needed a job. So this aspect of the academy strikes me as realistic.

Three things about this issue:

(1) For the first time EVER, I thought "you know, I'd like to see Comet Queen in the Legion". Paul finally won me over on her.

(2) The fact that she has a thing for Chuck is awesome.

(3) Saturn Queen has really been taken up a few notches as major Legion villain. Wow, how mean-spirited! I love it.

A placement office for jobs as paid interns from a technical school makes sense to me.
Thanks for the insight!
I didn't finish a technical program and never really thought of the Legion Academy that way.
But, you're right, that's pretty much what it is.
