Ever since the story where Sun Boy and Polar Boy fought Cryo-King on Tharr, it made me wonder how the rest of the Subs would be received on their homeworlds.

I imagine Night Girl would be a big deal...there is nothing limiting her power on Kathoon.

As for Stone Boy's home planet, I would imagine a world that goes into hibernation for six months is probably culturally a little backward as they would generally be behind the curve on what the rest of the UP is doing, so maybe he's just seen as being more of a novelty than anything else - I also wonder if maybe his family would be concerned about him growing six months older every time they go to sleep...

Thoughts?

One would really think that Lydda could do a lot more good if she just stayed on Kathoon and fought crime there.

True, Lydda on Kathoon would be the equivalent to Superman on Earth.

Staq, I imagine, would be viewed as a menace on his planet. Causing accidental fires every time he sneezed and such... The natives were probably quiet relieved when he found a home with the Subs on Earth.

Drura is one of the few of her race not quaranteened on planet. I wonder if other members of her species are even aware of her exploits?

re: Lydda, I assume there's probably not much crime on Kathoon? It seems like it's just a romantic getaway more than anything else and I don't know how much people in the 31st Century would have to worry about natural disasters and such, so maybe she just got bored there?

A vacation spot for the uber-wealthy bathed in perpetual darkness? Seems like the perfect spot for criminal activity to me!

It's only her stalkerish crush on Rokk that prevents her from being Lydda Jath, champion of Kathoon!

I think a Lydda on Kathoon story, in any form, would be wonderful. Especially one that helped paint how great a heroine she could be and maybe even make her question that old-fangled fixation on Earth and its Braalians.

Granted, I love Rokk and Lydda as a pairing. But if they're not going to be a couple for a bit, let the lass do her thing!

I'm considering Color Kid and I feel like I really don't know much about him or his homeworld! His Who's Who biography paints him as a bit clumsy, but maybe that's how the whole planet is. What's the story, Lupra?

Porcupine Pete is from Earth, so ... yeah.

Double-Header's "power" is just his people's means of reproducing!

It seems like we saw Antennae Lad's homeworld of Gryxor (?) at some point, maybe?

The closest real-world equivalent to the Subs would probably be people like Pete Best or Gummo Marx--people who were "rejected" by groups that later became famous. As such, they would be little more than footnotes to history or answers to trivia questions. I doubt the planet Lupra has a sign on the border of its spaceway announcing, "Home of Color Kid".

Of course, the Subs did actually save the Legion and the universe a time or two, so collectively they may have some fame. Perhaps their notoriety is similar to people knowing that the Doors recorded two albums after Jim Morrison died or that Robbie Krieger and John Densmore then formed the short-lived Butts Band. The information is there, but nobody much cares.

Hmm... I would say a closer equivalent might be something like minor league baseball players or something. Which suggest they might still be locally famous, but the average resident of planet Gnogg probably can't name any of them.

Minor League ballplayers, eh? So does that make Polar Boy, "Crash" Davis?

I would think that all the Subs would be viewed with pride on their homeworlds. To just be affiliated with the "true" Legion is an honour. The fact that the Legion views the Subs as the second line of defence says a lot.

I think each planet (for the most part) holds their heroes in high regard, Legionnaire, Sub, Reservist, etc. shudder

Hmmm- I guess it would attract off-world criminals. Homegrown ones though? People raised on a world of perpetual darkness wouldn't have the equivalent of night to cover their crime. There also wouldn't be the bias towards darkness.

Therefore, a Kathooni criminal would have to work twice as hard, with no night to skulk around in!

I think it's time we found out just what's up with that stalkerish/crush. Peronality disorder or something else? What if she transferred it to someone else?

I'd love, love, love a multi-issue epic set on Infectious Lass's homeworld- Somathur.

Maybe flash bombs are popular among criminals on Kathoon for blinding their victims/witnesses. I think Uli Algor used something like that on Lydda in that old Action story.
