I'm fascinated with the concept of a professional outfit that could work for the UP and the Legionnaires. I think they were painted unflatteringly in the Legion and if they were written a bit differently they could be just bloody marvelous. Understandable of course, the writers wanted a new group of super antagonists and yet not new super villians. Nice idea. After the bad blood and blows exchanged early in their introduction they weren't too well liked but I feel they redeemed themselves in a way by walking out on McCauley/Ras alGhul. They were duped by a madman just like everybody else but they've been labeled for it where so many others in government service and whatknot got excused for their ignorance. The Oversite Watch made a decision when they refused to fight the Legion that benefited the UP as a whole at the expense of their reputations... and their jobs apparently.
Like any professional Law Enforcement outfit in Comic Books they'd have rotating cast members, guests, crossovers with the Legion, and probably all kinds of fun with fallout from LSH activities and pre-crisis throwaways. I liked them and wanted to see more out of them but we didn't get a lot of a chance too. I really would like to see the idea explored further and actually expanded on quite a bit. To tell you the truth though I have no earthly idea if I'm alone in this or if anybody else was interested in the group at all.
A show of hands? Who liked the Oversite Watch?

I thought the Oversight Watch was very interesting too, they were a cool group of characters.
I'd definately like to see them again, at least in the Legion's title. And I think the writers can explore what their feelings towards M'Onel are too, it should be interesting to get their opinions of him.

Yeah, I think so. Since they have almost a year of history with Lar in their group they'd definitely know him well enough to have opinions and either loyalties or hostilities for our most famous Daxamite Legionnaire. There's a lot to explore for a creative writing team.

I'd forgotten about them actually....
They didn't get the time in the spotlight that they deserved did they?

Actually, I've always wanted to see M'Onel lead the postboot Wanderers. Maybe some of the Oversight Watch folks could join him on that though.
I particularly liked Twine and Abyss.

Yeah, I remember the Wanderers, they're quite popular among some of the Legion fans. Initially they were a use-once-throw-away device for a battle of the super heroes type contest. They got enough interest to even get their own short lived book for a while. I'd hate to see the OW shoved into a basket marked "possible plot devices" as a cure for writer's block. They've got too much potential to just be around for Legionnaires to beat up on when the writers are bored.

I wouldn't mind seeind a new Oversight Watch with some new members. Repulse and Twine seem like they're ready to be outright villains though. Abyss seems like he can be part of a more up and up OW who wouldn't be opponents of the Legion but maybe they'd be more like professional rivals kinda like the Workforce used to be. It was always more fun to see them work together but not get along rather than just see them fight.

I heartily agree. Maybe Spider Girl and Evolvo could join too, but Twine's lash = Spider Girl's hair, and Brainstorm's veiny head (no, not the one down there!) = Evolvo's veiny head, plus they're bpth highly intelligent. Still, it would be nice to consistently see other metahuman "heroes" in the 31st century.

I've been trying to find some material on the OW on the net but strangely enough there's not very much. They must not have caught fire with anybody. I'm trying to find some graphics for a webpage about the Watch. Unfortunately my scanner's not installed and besides my comics are so disorganized I don't know if I could find the right issues anyway. Has anybody run across scans or fan art of these guys?

I think they would be more interesting if they were developed into a for-hire group of vigilantes / bounty hunters (a la Lobo?) This would provide a number of opportunities for the Legion to interact with them, sometimes clashing, sometimes cooperating but always with mutual suspicion.
