now, this is a work in progress....any notes will be taken into consideration

Morning Glories: A Prelude

Time: 30th Century
Location: Earth-247 (Pre-Flashpoint)

McCauley Luna Base, 3:38pm

The base is mostly quiet, as a majority of the workers have gone home. In the private quarters belonging to Leland McCauley, a lone girl is lying on her bed and watching the latest news vid with the Legion.

“Man, this blows!” an annoyed Lori exclaimed, as she moaned and stared at the ceiling.

“I used to be out there, helping them! Thanks to the big brain, I lost my dial! Now, I’m just me again!” she sat up and sighed, as memories of her time as a hero flashed in her mind. She may not have been at it long, but she really thought she was finally getting the hang of it. The Legion were the closest thing to a family she had when she arrived in the future from the past.

These days, she spent her time locked away in one of McCauleys Workforce bases, dreaming of being out there. Tired of dwelling in the past, she got up and decided to grab something to eat. As she made her way down the hall, she noticed how quiet it was. She’s used to it being quiet, but this time it felt different. She chalked it up to nerves and tried to shake it off, as she entered the kitchen. Unknown to her, she wasn’t alone…as a figure made their way gracefully and silently along the hallways.

Lori was looking through the fridge for something that called to her, when she suddenly felt a cold chill down her spine. She quickly turned around and began searching for the cause of her concern.

“Relax, child…” a voice began from somewhere in the shadows, “you have nothing to fear from me ”

The mystery voices words did little to ease her fears, as Lori started to search for a weapon or something to defend herself with.

“Lori, you can trust me…. Have I steered you wrong before?” the figure asked, as they stepped out of the shadows, and a familiar person stood before her.

“You?! What do you want?” Lori asked, trying to sound confident as she stared at the robed figure known to her as the Time Trapper.

“What I’ve always wanted, Lori…to help you” the Trapper said, their words sounding sending another chill down Lori’s back.

Lori remembers the first time she met the robed figure, when they gave her the H Dial and changed her life…if only for a short period.

“No, I shouldn’t trust you! You’ve tried to hurt my friends!” Lori shouted, standing her ground even though every fibre of her body is screaming to run.

The Trapper just stared at the girl and laughed. “It may have seemed that way to some, but I really was trying to help. They’re my friends too”

Lori stared at the figure,l unable to believe anything they say. “You…their friend?! Doubt it!”

The Trapper made their way closer to Lori. “Lori, I know you have every reason not to believe anything I say…” they began, careful with every word they say, “but I need you to believe me. I’m not here to hurt you, I’m here to help you. To put you on your true path”

Lori was still not falling for it, as she pulled out a knife. “No! No more lies! I want the truth! Why me?! Why did you choose me?”

The Trapper thought long about her question, before finally answering. “Ok, I think you can handle the truth now. I chose you…because I know you’re destined for more.”

Lori tilted her head, “And how do you know that? I’m just a girl out of time, not important”

The Trapper looked at her, “Because, my dear…” the Trapper pulled down their hood, revealing long blonde flowing hair. “You and I are very close”

Lori gasped as she stared at the face before her, a face familiar and comfortable. “Mom?!” The shock of it all causes her to faint, as she hits the floor.

“Oh, Lori…that’s going to leave a mark.” She knelt down to check on her, before they both vanished.

oooh I love this twist! I was so set on the Trapper being a future Lori, but the Trapper as Lori's mom is amazing!

Interlude 1
Time: 30th Century, 2977
Location: Metropolis Amusement Park, Earth-1 (Pre-Crisis)

An empty amusement park, at one point in time this place would have been full of kids and families. Those times are long gone, but recently there were kids playing: super kids! As part of another plan by the Time Trapper, the Legion of Super-Heroes were turned into kids by his one time henchmen: Glorith of Baaldur. Having failed him and for his own enjoyment, he turned the blonde beauty into primordial soup.

After the defeat of the Trapper, the Legion returned to their headquarters, leaving what was once Glorith behind. Unknown to anyone, that wasn’t the end of her story. In one timeline, she got her revenge on the Trapper, destroying him and taking his place in history. In another, her fate was far worse, as she was eventually killed by the mad sorcerer Mordru. Either time had a sick sense of humor, or Glorith was destined to be tied to time.

It's been hours since the showdown with the Trapper, but something else is about to transpire. A lone figure appears from the shadows, as they approach the blob that was once Glorith. As they kneeled down before the puddle, there was a cold chill in the air. The mysterious figure reached out and touched the liquid, as the park lit up and cut through the darkness. As quickly as it appeared, it faded…however, where there once stood a lone figure, now stood two.

The new figure stood and stared at the first, trying to process what just transpired.

“What…what…” was all Glorith could muster, as just mere minutes ago, she was nothing but a mindless goo. Her somehow saviour just smiled at her, as they reached out a bandaged wrapped hand. Glorith hesitated, as her last thoughts were of someone who looked like the person before her betraying her. After what seemed an eternity, Glorith decided to trust this person, as the two vanished into the night.
