I thought this was pretty cool, so I thought I'd share.

My wife has always been so sweet and patient with the things I love. She hates sci-fi, but gave Firefly and the new Battlestar Galactica a chance after much begging, and now loves both of them as much as I do.

We are currently in the "trying to have a baby mode" and we're deciding on names. She emailed me yesterday at work and said if we ever have a boy we should name it Drake, because she knows Wildfire is my favorite.

She has never read a comic book in her life.

Then - and this is the point I fell in love all over again - she said we would need to decide if the baby would be named for pre-Zero Hour or post-Zero Hour Drake/Wildfire.

Sounds like someone has visited wikipedia to me.

By the way, the obvious answer is Pre-Zero Hour.

That is very sweet. I think you would have been out of luck if your favorite had been Brainiac 5, Matter-Eater Lad, or Timber Wolf.

I had a friend who's second daughter is named Ayla.

And you know that Nicholas Cage has already used Kal-el for his son.

Comics artist Jon Bogdanove named his son Kal-El, as well.

See, "Kal-el" is now one of those common (ugh!) names. You don't want to confuse the teacher with having too many Kal-els in the class.

My wife would suggest that I try to get the Legion rebooted with our kids names used in place of the classic names.

How does Wyatt Ranzz sound?

I don't know. I could see Brin being used as a baby's name. It's close to Brian, Brent, and Brandon.

Daryl --

Have you selected a middle name?

I would guess no one in the entire Universe has Quislet as a middle name.

PS - My wife and I gave my kids names after moons.
Miranda and Larissa are my two daughters, and my son's middle name is Triton. They are in college and high school and all turned out pretty well. BTW, I know Miranda originally came from Shakespeare, but I think its a cool moon.

Those are cool names, KQ.

And at least you didn't name them Phobos.

Burroughs is good though. Not just Legion but also a homage to Edgar Rice Burroughs, one of the greatest sci-fi/fantasy authors of all time.

And that would probably be easier to explain than a comic book character. smile

That's really cute. Rokk or Brin or Dirk or Garth could be very cool too.

I have a secret plan to buy new wedding rings for our next anniversary.

We just talked about names recently - no child in planning yet, but well, talking about names always is fun - but the only names you could give to a German child are the female ones, cause Garth, Rokk or Brin just don't fit to German family names.

She didn't like Ayla though - *sigh* - but Tinya is not out of the contest yet smile

Imra!
..is Projectra really Jeckies given name?

What do I know though, my daughter's name is Samantha.
My son (however) is often called Rat Boy. A possible future Legionnaire?

Samantha is a lovely name (I loved Samantha of Bewitched anyway).
Projectra is Jeckie's given name, even though her name was Jeka in her "Sneckie" phase.
Her current full name - lemme see if I can remember all of it - is Wilimena Morgana Daergina Annaxandra Projectra Velorya of Vauxhall.
From Jeka with 4 letters to 47, not counting her last name. Not bad. tongue

With common German names such as Johann and Joachim, would Jan (pronounced "yahn") work?

Reep sounds Dutch to me. It might fit in with names such as Jaap.

I have friends who named their dog Ayla, but it was from Clan of the Cave Bear.
