Well, more of a question about some spoilage... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . So there's a picture circulating that looks like Jason Todd's back from the dead. What gives? I'm not reading the story so I have no idea what's going on, but last I remember Jason Todd was dead in a definitive, Batman holding his smoldering dead body kind of way. I assume Bats was nice enough to bury the kid too. I know there's always the old "Lazarus Pit" routine, if it's still around, but if it's really Jason I will truly have no faith left in "comic book dead." Maybe he and Bucky can team up. Bleh.

I'm reading Hush and enjoying it. I've seen that pic and I've been hearing rumors since the start about it being Jason Todd. I don't know how I'll react if it turns out to be him. Todd is supposed to be like Bucky and Uncle Ben, dead never to come back.
Personally I think the villain is someone else who's using the Lazarus Pit. But I'm not going to say who just yet.

I've only read the Nightwing story but I liked it.
As for Todd, it wouldn't surprise me if it just turned out to be a red herring.

It really depends on Jeph Loeb's sense of taste balanced with credibility, but also with shock value.
I give it a 50% chance.
I AM enjoying the story, though. I think Jim Lee's doing better work now than he has in years (probably not this good since the Claremont-Lee days on X-Men)

********SPOILERS for BATMAN #617********** At the very end of this issue "Hush" takes off the bandage and is revealed to be Jason Todd (according to the Batman narration and Hush's dialogue. He's wearing a very Jim Lee kinda paramilitary outfit with lotsa buckles and straps (naturally) and sporting a couple of "R" logo's (boy's living in the past).
It's been suggested that this was indeed the result of some Lazarus pit monkeying, but nothing's for sure -- it might all still be a red herring for all we know.

Thing is... (Spoiler)
"Jason" has AGED. If he WAS revived, he was revived right after his death.

Jason did look pretty old.
I also think he's not the main baddy and I am also thinking that its going to be Tommy Elliott.
Why would ANYONE have guessed that it was Jason Todd prior to this issue? I've seen no indication of him whatsoever.

Why would ANYONE have guessed that it was Jason Todd prior to this issue? I've seen no indication of him whatsoever. Well it had to be someone who knew intimate details (like Bruce's identity) of Bat's life. And Todd is a twist that few probably expected. What kept (and still does) me from believing it is that Jason Todd is supposed to be dead, not comicbook dead.

And the first thing I thought was how he looked like Ra's a little bit. But if it is Jason and he was revived after his death, wasn't that like only 5 years ago in DC time? Its hard to keep track of how we are supposed to see these characters age.

Sorry, I don't read the books so can someone tell me who Tommy Elliot is? That name doesn't ring a bell.

I'm not sure when he was introduced or if he was prior to Hush since this is the first time I've read Batman in a decade. But Tommy Elliot is/was a childhood friend of Bruce. He went with Bruce on at least one trip to Metropolis when they were young (before the death of the Waynes) and grew up to become a doctor. He was killed by Hush in the eighth chapter of the story (issue #615). Or he appeared to be killed.

Hmm. If he's a character that was just recently introduced I'd think it would be a bit of a letdown to have him be the villain. It's certainly not a name that rings any bells in my mind as having been a member of the extended Batman cast.

I'm fairly certain, from reading the message boards at DC, that Tommy was introduced for this story as a means to further explore Bruce Wayne's psychi. IMO it is a great character in it's own right. Nearly Bruce's equal or better in many ways, Tommy was seen as kind of a big brother.
I wasn't a collector of Batman books because, why would I want to buy ten books a month for one story. But my comic guy just put it in my order. He's rarely wrong on what I will like and was dead on with this arc.
There are an awful lot of guys roaming around with bandaged heads though.

Hmm... after reading the last issue more carefully, I think Tommy (or someone else) could be the big puppetmaster.
The "next issue" blurb says that Batman will draw closer to the "ultimate secret," implying that Jason Todd ISN'T that secret.
Also, Scarecrow makes some mention of Batman not being affected by his gas because he's already been infected by something else.
I think the grown-up Jason Todd is only a hallucination or something similar.
Plus, it's not so inconceivable that someone smart (like Tommy) could have figured out the intimate details of the Batman/Bruce Wayne identity -- Batman recounts how Tim Drake did it, and says that Tim is among the "few" who deduced it. Certainly others could do so as well.

Stuey I so agree with you. I'm sure that Tommy is the culprit behind all of this.

I think the ultimate mastermind might be Thalia -- she knows Batman and his secrets pretty intimately, knows all about the Lazarus pits and her being the baddie would tie into the other current plot about Catwoman and Bruce's love-life.
