Yes, I should have prefaced that I had zero knowledge of Bendis prior to this experience, probably because he was Marvel-centric, and I don't think I had much Marvel experience. For all the hype, I wasn't impressed. You're lucky, GL. Us Marvel fans had to put up with a *decade-and-a-half* of Bendis's crap! And now that he's no longer DC Exclusive, we might have to brace for his return to Marvel!

I've actually found Bendis's dialogue -- which his fans often point to as his greatest strength -- to be his greatest weakness. A friend of mine who loves the Marvel horror and supernatural characters was appalled at the way Bendis had Dr. Strange and Daimon Hellstrom talking colloquially. Bendis dialogue is very 'this is how we think teens talked in the 2000s', which worked okay for Ultimate Spider-Man but doesn't really translate over to anything else. Honestly, he generally does best when working with characters of his own creation. I can't say I'm a fan of his, but his work on Naomi was definitely leaps and bounds ahead of everything else he's written for DC. That being said... If his track record at Marvel is anything to go by, someone will come along and write Naomi better than he did.

Oh, he totally has one character voice, no matter how many people deny it. Everyone sounds the same.
"Everyone talks like this."
"Like what?"
"You know... Like this."
"Oh."
"Yeah."

Supragirl's comments about Bendis's dialogue are right on the money!

Comics is an interesting medium, as the creative team needs to balance the dialog and the action description to ensure that its economical for both the words and the image. In this run, to your points, I felt like there were a lot of extra words that didn't add much. Kind of like a JRRM novel but in space.

I got a chuckle out of that. and indeed, I think if the dialogue were read to me, I would NOT be able to identify most of the characters speaking. Among the Legionnaires, maybe only Brainy has different speech patterns. I could probably pick out Garth, Cos and Imra because of context clues... but... most of the dialogue is just way too generic.

Yes, definitely Brainy and maybe Rose. Chuck's dialog also seemed to stand out to me for some reason.

Chuck's dialog also seemed to stand out to me for some reason. Chuck stood out to me initially because he was one of the few that actually felt like his old self. I feel like Wildfire did too.

Curious to see where this is going... and wonder where the story will pick up... Indeed. I think that's the big question for me. Pre or post Future State?

Indeed... things could pick up Post Future State too. as far as we know nobody (except one Trip body) really died... and we have Rebooted Subs added to the already-humongous cast... maybe too big... I hope we get more Radius Lad! and the mystery of Gold Lantern will progress, one panel per month at a time! (seriously though, I am curious...!)

Does Salu actually have a voice or do her powers work like Radius Lad?

It would be kind of funny if Vi, Tenzil, X-Ray Girl, etc., were the main focus of the next volume and Saturn Girl, Brainiac Five and Ultra Boy all just stood around in the background of group shots and never said anything!

You guys will have to tell me where the story goes, because I don't think I can personally take anymore of it.

Hang on guys, Araujo said this on Twitter: Just one page from me - but me and @BRIANMBENDIS have something MEGA to be announced, our creator owned book which is pretty much done at this point. Soon! ( source) So... Not LOSH after all, it seems.

Another update from Araujo: Because of this post a lot of people think I'm drawing Legion - I am not. I did an original book with Brian (to be announced) and now I'm doing another original one with someone else (very near and dear to me as well). (source)I actually feel bad Bendis put him on the spot like that...

The way I read that, Araujo seems to be drawing just one page of a Legion project, but nothing ongoing. But I dunno as its very unclear. I don't have access to Instagram. What was announced there? The Twitter link seems to point to that site.

Darn I was hoping it was more Legion. I saw the drawing this morning and was looking forward to more news about the title continuing. I know it wasn?t everyone?s cup of tee but I?ve enjoyed it so far.

I'd like to see almost anything Legion that's new - at the end of the day, I'd like to see a Legion book that sells and gets more people into the fold - whether I like it or not - versus a title in limbo.
