I just noticed now that some SW6 Legionnaires are missing from this group shot, interesting.

Lyle, Cham, Jan? and even Brainy

Loving the costumes as well smile glad many were carried over into the Reboot!

And I really dig the central stripe theme that unifies then

Thank you Nightcrawler for posting this.

I"m really looking forward to the upcoming Justice league vs The LSH! The art looks great. I hope they use this opportunity to really flesh out some of the Legionnaires that didn't get to shine during the recent Legion maxi series.

I remember that pic, the front cover of Legionnaires # 1 - but I never took notice of the missing members before. Good picking.

I always thought the uniforms/costumes were pretty good, having enough similarity to emphasise they are a team but with the individuality as well.

Is that...

Dawnstar on the right?

I love this!!

(For real: when you read about what Indigenous women go through in North American societies, being negatively objectified and suffering terrible consequences for it, thanks to racism, sexism, and poverty, I've hoped in the back of my mind for years that they'd devise a new look for her.)

Yeah, she was long overdue for a new costume.

The neat thing about the new Dawnstar is that she is very distinctly different from Hawkgirl, so there's no mistaking folks from Starhaven being from Thanager. smile

While agree with Dawnstar needing an upgrade, I'm not really sold on the lack of "real" wings on the current version.

I definitely prefer "real" wings on the folks from Starhaven. smile

I'd probably have to plunk down cash for the comic to see some action scenes, before I decided.

There's always been a weird iconic tension between what we think of as futuristic aesthetics (streamlined, artificial in some way) vs. a woman with feathered wings: which I think still at some level suggest "wild, earthbound nature" to us.

I feel like if I depicted the character, I'd probably want her powers to include the ability to make her wings disappear altogether if she were resting indoors and on the ground: to only reappear at her command when she needed them.

I think one of the neat things about the Legion is that you have a lot of characters/aspects that don't fit smoothly in the whole high-tech artificial futuristic aesthetic that is the "mainstream" for the 30th/31st centuries. I always thought it was kind of nice that Dawnstar came from a planet where the people had intentionally rejected much of that in favor of a more "natural" existence.

Of course, I'm not sure that even makes sense now, as, from what I understand the modern origin of Starhaven involves a native tribe being kidnapped by aliens rather leaving Earth of their own volition.

I'd definitely be open to her wings only appearing when in use, though. They always seem like they'd be super-uncomfortable in a lot of contexts.

Heavily agree on a lot of what you're saying here, EDE. The occasional anachronism that would pop up in the Legion, especially around magic or the occasional "D&D world" was fun, and felt missing in runs like DnA's where I think it was needed.

I very much like the real-wings-that-disappear-when-not-being-used aspect.

Would certainly make it easier for Dawnstar to sit down, for example tongue

I just noticed that issue #2 of JLvLSH was pushed back a month as well to March 8.
