Sorry about that, Ibby. I actually thought that was one of my least obscure musical jokes. He's so obsessed with control, he fetishizes an album titled "Control."

And it's actually a pretty good Janet Jackson album, to boot!

I doubt having a super expensive set of headphones would make much difference to my listening. It just doesn't make much difference to me.

A lot of those oversized headphones look a tad ridiculous too.

I know of a football manager who banned his players from wearing them for just that reason.

Maybe if they were ridiculous enough, they would have made the enemy fall over laughing

I have to say, fancy noise-cancelling headphones have helped my marriage a lot. I'm home two weekdays per week while mr_cleome is working. We only sit about 7' apart, and he has to be on the phone talking a LOT. So, yeah.

While I spent over a hundred dollars on them, I didn't go ultra upscale and pick the gleaming bright red model with a famous Rap Guy's name on them. I mean, they did look and sound really great, but the ones a step or two down from that were still just fine.

my hubby and I are quite strange, in that we can literally sit across the table from one another, yet still completely ignore each other. I can work while he has a call, and vice versa.

of course, we cannot both have calls at the same time...

The default setting on my work headphones was full volume, which half deafened people with feedback the first time they were used.

I guess that taught them. Their hearing will recover, in time

Some of this may be age-related. In my younger years, I could concentrate on homework or a discussion no matter how much background noise there was. Now, I just can't. When we're in the car and having a conversation, I can focus all right if we're hearing music on the radio. But if it's talk, I have to turn the radio off if I want to keep up with what he's saying.

Ohh when I was in my early 20s, I also could not talk and drive. Music and drive sure, but not talk and drive

I nearly did today. I sat next to a window in the new office complex. In my old place, the windows were tinted. Not here, and I got frazzled by the sun.

I empathize... when I'm in the sun too long, my head physically hurts.

I was heavy headed, when leaving. Very uncomfortable most of the day. I shall pick somewhere else to sit.

I have to do the same with my office. Glass windows everywhere. Feels like a greenhouse sometimes.
