Hey everyone sorry for the lack of participation of late. We are in the middle of the house buying process and that plus work has been taking up most of my time! So soon-ish I will be a homeowner again!

Well, I had my melanoma excision. The scar reaches from the central meibomian glands of my left eye to the left corner commissure of my lip, but can only get better with time. The only real difficulty was that for two weeks before the surgery, I had to go off ibuprofen, acetaminophen, aspirin, naproxen, or any other anti-inflammatory painkiller because they also act as blood thinners. So, you know, increased discomfort from my arthritis. I was very happy that they recommended I go back on regular ibuprofen for a few days after the surgery. Still, they say they got all the cancer and now all I have to do is rest and change the dressing daily for the next two weeks. Good news, all around. This is great news, Klar!!! At least you get to take ibuprofen again. That always sucks pre-surgery!

Okay - We are now officially home owners! We move in about six weeks due to kid #2 graduating and kid #1 heading to Rome (!of all places!)! Its been a crazy last several weeks. And I wish they would flash by without me having to work or do all the repainting or packing/unpacking crap....

So I apologize for my absence, but moving takes a lot of time, and I forgot how time consuming it can be. We are mostly settled in to the new place and are at the stage where we will have boxes strewn around for about the next couple of months. And since I'll not have to spend time going an hour each way back and forth between houses much more, plus having a workable office area up, I can spend more time back here! I figure we'll be DONE done in a couple more months. But looking forward to jumping back into things!

Is now a bad time to tell GL about the free Legion World portable tesseracts?

LOL - See the problem that those would introduce is that I'd literally leave a ton of stuff in there and completely forget about them, then REALLY never find things...

Yesterday my mother passed away. I'm putting it in this thread because, while we are of course very sad, it couldn't have worked out much better.
It wasn't unexpected. She was 89 and weak. Thursday morning she had a heart attack which left her weaker and at first unresponsive, but that improved somewhat. Fortunately my sister was there and I was able to fly up early the next morning (we leave a couple of thousand kms apart). Mum was still very weak and rarely opened her eyes but she smiled when I arrived and spoke to her and she told me that was lovely. Over the next couple of days when we determined that she was declining we transitioned to end-of-life medication which made her more comfortable without unnecessarily extending her life. In the end on Sunday afternoon both my sister and I were there talking to her and holding her hands (she was asleep but you never know) while her breathing gradually slowed and then stopped.
I'm so glad we were both there. It was hard but I realised at the time how fortunate we were to be able to share those last moments with her.

stile, my thoughts are with you and your sister. But indeed, it's good that you were both there with your mother during the last days.

Our thoughts are with you, and your sister, at your time of loss, stile. It's so good you could share that last time together. That's going to give you such positive final memories of your mother. Hopefully, that gives you comfort for the difficult period ahead.
