OK, I may be too new to open up a topic like this, but I have been wandering around the different forums reading all the "possible reboot" talk, including the survivor rosters. My question is this, if there is a reboot, what characters do you hope they either revive, rework, rename etc?

For example: Would you like to see Nemesis Kid made in to a real honest to goodness permanent Legionnaire (that is going back a while)? Do you have a favourite academy washout that you wish had made it first time around? Would it be nice to see Garth keep all his limbs and live through a whole series? Would you give someone a new name, and polish up some powers in an attempt to turn them into a more featurable character (I'm looking at you Umbra)? I think the current Chuck T. v. Bouncing Boy is another example. Remember, not just a Survivor thread, this is about redemption, reworks, and rebirths. (Oh, also feel free to tell me if this is just too lame to consider or belongs inside another topic)

There's certainly no end to the speculation/wishes for the new series. My wishes would be:
--Reintroduce
-Dawnstar
-Dev-Em
-The Legion of Super Villains
-Rond Vidar as a regular supporting cast member
-- Remake
-Sensor as Princess Projectra
-The Empress as the Emerald Empress (Sarya) with an Eye that retained its mystery (i.e. it's not a whiny co-dependent wimp!)
-Kinetix as something closer to her original human form
-Wildfire to do away with the merged entity origin
-Umbra as "Shadow Lass"
--Reject
-Cub
-Gear

Great list Drake, I'm onboard with everyone of those ideas.

Personally I'd like to have the moon back. It's been blown to into gravel twice now in Legion stories and while I know it's a wierd little point it just seems so wrong NOT to have a moon.

Well, since it's a "wish list"-
Valor was great but somehow I can't connect with M'Onel -fix him(!)
add a Flash to the roster
Kal-El!!!
T&M's Andromeda (she was such a hottie)
Impulse 1 (go Kent!)
Shrinking Violet
Some version of Gim Allon back in the LSH

...and for God's sake will somebody tell Garth to change clothes? Maybe people wouldn't be so quick to see Jan if he'd wear his own wardrobe, y'know?

Good point about the moon, YK. Makes me wonder if they'll keep Legion World itself - revert to an Earth-based building - or maybe have no central headquarters. If they're a movement, maybe they just ascribe to certain principles and goals, and get together at the mall.

In addition to what's already been listed by Drake and YK, I'd lose the thresholds, lose the implants on B5 and redeem the Dark Circle (into a truly powerful, elusive and dangerous group).

Hey! Maybe Waid will keep the Oversight Watch around! I've been wanting to see them again post Ra's al Ghul. One would think Winnema Wazzo could find useful work for her own personal Presidential super hero group.

Mine would probably echo a lot of what's been said, and make use with things DnA didn't get around to:

-Reintroduce Andromeda (6' goddess, please)
-Bring back, or at least get updates on, Spider-Girl, Evolvo, Atmos, and Insect Queen
-Get a new, smaller headquarters. Legion World could still remain operative as the galaxy's transport hub or Earth's first line of defense.
-More action, characterization for Dreamer, Timber Wolf, and Gear
-Kinetix de-terrorformed and back to her bubbly self
-Codename change for Vi to Violet
-A new LSV. We definitely have a lot of second-string villains now who could easily band together into quite the menace.

And I'll echo the calls for Andromeda- the amazon goddess and the return of the SHADOW LASS codename. Wouldn't mind a return of the PHANTOM GIRL code-name either. And *please* keep the VIOLET codename that was recently used for Salu (first in the most-recent Secret Files issue).

Yeah, even boy scout troops contain rotten apples. It makes for a more interesting mixture of personalities.

Why do the Legionnaires need uniforms at all? Why not have them wear civvies with emblems (like T-Wolf). Or instead of emblems/insignia, some of them could sport prominent tattoos, e.g, U Boy with a "green dragon' tattoo on his (bare) arm.

In the olden days, they didn't live in the clubhouse/HQ, they had their own apartments and went home at the end of the day. Let's return to the concept of private lives. Never liked the idea of them living in dormitories like a bunch of college students.

They used to go out on dates and grab a snack together now and then. More of that. Why do we so rarely see them go shopping, reading or listening to music? They should act more like real teenagers who like to slack off and have fun sometimes.

Bring back recruitment drives and Legion rejects with bizarre and useless powers!

Bring back Sun Boy, dammit, and Polar Boy too, and make Nemesis Kid and Insect Queen real Legionnaires.

The LSV? You bet'cha. They're long overdue.

Oh, and lest I forget about my own fave character, I'd like to see a new take on Element Lad, assuming he does return. I envision him a tad dangerous, unquestionably sane and heroic but unfathomable, though not so alien he loses his ties with the past. A veritable "mystery lad", if you will. He should also be depicted as highly intelligent with a scientific bent, as anyone who wields such powers effectively ought to be, with strong leadership potential and a deep and abiding spirituality -- the last trait being essential to the core character. Everyone would respect him, but not all of his teammates would feel comfortable in his presence. These attributes, combined with the mysterious nature of transmutation (the extent of his powers should remain uncharted), would make for a compelling character, imo. Ditch the asexual "baby monk" thing, too. His sexuality should be palpable but as enigmatic as his personality. I'd love to see him beautiful and somewhat androgynous again, as Sherman once drew him, assuming he returns as a human being and not a tromium android (gods forbid). No pale scarlet/magenta, if you please. Minimalist black & white suited him perfectly, imo. The codename is up for grabs. Never cared for the sobriquet "Alchemist" but perhaps it's more suited to the character I just described than the retro name Element Lad.

I guess this is a little off-topic for this thread but I hope to see the Thresholds abolished. The downtime while the cruisers were in transit was always a good time for little character building moments. The thresholds just make sustaining the dramatic tension of small group stories hard to sustain, which neccesitates off-panel stories like Gail Simone is using to explain away the rest of the team during her arc.

And narrowhouse, feel free to start all the threads you want to! That's what this board is here for.

Love the input everyone. My picks-

Let's not make Brainy insane. Arrogant jerk? Fine. Screaming nutjob? No.

If are going to have non-humanoid members, come up with interesting new ones, not retrofit current/past members into non-humanoid bodies (Sensor)

Short shots with Superboy, the Legion has its own heavy hitters.

Use Cham more covertly- he's a freakin' shape shifter not the Elongated man! (Though some nice detective insticts wouldn't be a waste). Heck more use of covert action via the Espionage squad would be good.

Mon'el, M'Onel, Valor- Pick one, stick with it and give him a role to play in the LEGION that is as big as his role in the UNIVERSE. He is one of your heavy hitters, so if Superboy can do it, so can he. (and somewhere along the line settle this "strongest" question - though against Kon I would think Lar comes out on top.)

I used it as an example, but a Legionnaire Nemesis Kid would be interesting, NK v Darkseid 1 on 1 (just kidding, give the big guy a rest).

Evolvo Lad of the Legion! Gives Brainy another playmate, along with Lyle and Rond.

Quantum has had a good direction lately, talks a good fight and then backs it up. More of that from all the females, if you are in the Legion you should be capable of opening a can of whoop @ss if necessary.

Presumably if NK were a member, they'd want to have some upper limits on his abilities to adapt to foes (kind of like Duplicate Boy couldn't duplicate Validus, for example).

I think a certain level of unpredictability in his powers would make Hart quite interesting.

And I'd like to have Kal-El as a member. Basically with the classic "Superboy" background and supporting cast. Make it clear from the beginning, however, that he's from a "Pocket Universe" or "alternate timeline" or whatever.

How about upsetting some of the romances?

- Garth having a torrid affair with Tasmia, while Imra consoles herself with Brin or Jo (or both).

- Cos paired with Lyle (Rokk was never a very persuasive heterosexual, imo) but Lyle is secretly in love with Brainy.

- Jazmin spending "time" with Retro.

- Ayla and Luornu (Lu Purple, specifically, to the consternation of her other selves).

- Violet and Chuck.

- Lar with Shvaughn (I love the idea of these two).

- Element Lad in a mystery relationship (gender, species unknown).

- Thom and Tinya (well, he *did* like her once).

- Nura doesn't sleep anymore but she does sleep around (e.g., with all the Uncanny Amazers)

REDEEM Jan Arrah (also 'revive', possibly 'rebirth'). To me, the Legion just ain't quite the Legion without Element Lad, sole survivor of Trom, as a hero.

It's been a long time since there's been a redeemed villain in the ranks (since Blok). Who'd work? Inferno? Ugh-- give me Dirk every time. Most villains are too old, aren't they? Mekt would be an interesting Legionnaire trying to redeem himself...

REWORK Zoe... if there's no way to restore her to the personality and power she had when she first appeared, maybe she should be a constantly transforming character. Or something completely different. As she is now, she just is not working.

REBIRTH Princess Projectra... though not one of my personal favorites, it'd make *so* many fans happy.

Gim Allon needs to come back somehow, as well.

In a reboot, I'd like to see some variation in age. Maybe there could be an older generation of heroes (i.e. Tornado Twins, Platinum, Martian Manhunter, Resurrection Man, Hawk Man/Hawk Girl, et. al.) to give a sense of some recent dark days that would cause a whole 'youth hero movement' to be inspired. And keep some adult mentors (maybe a rebooted Jacques Foccart and Infectious Lass - a great couple from the T&M days).

Other things? It would be cool to have Nemesis Kid and Mentalla. Start them as arrogant heroes who fall in love and eventually become villains.

I'd like to see the return of the White Witch, Tyroc, Chlorophyll Kid, Color Kid, Ron-Karr, Night Girl and Myg. And if they're gonna keep Gear or Tenzil Kem, give them something to do!

I wouldn't mind variation in age, either-- but I think I'd prefer if any older heroes are ones that became heroes only *after* the rise of the Legion...

...unless they'd been operating in secret? And maybe prefer it that way?

I think a central facet of the Legion is that they are *inspired* by the heroic legacy of history. Not by the recent past.

Though there'd be a lot of appeal in seeing 'long-livers' like Martian Manhunter, Platinum, etc. I wonder if it'd create new problemes for the Legion as it relates to the larger DCU?

I'm intrigued by the Nemesis Kid/Mentalla idea-- though I think in today's climate, most writers apparently find it impossible to resist the 'shocking cliffhanger' of a hero suddenly revealed as eeeeevillll. (Gag-) Seeing a long, slow slide into criminal behavior that's psychologicaly deft would be a great story. Except for any particular fans of the character(s) involved. I'd be very sympathetic to *their* plight.

Here's a wild guess- considering Gail Simone's comment about her issues 'dovetailing' (paraphrasing) with Waid/Kitson's ideas... and Waid's boast about making the LSH DC's #1 book, I wonder if the Legion just might be about to be remade as JLA 3004.

Maybe the use of JLA-like characters is the point of commonality between Simone and Waid.

Nah, that's too easy.

For me, the notion of being "inspired by the heroic legacy of history" never rang true. In the original LSH, I could buy it, because I was a kid when I first encountered the Legion (around the Omega, Secrets of LSH Mini, Legion of Super Assassins time), and grew older as they did. I never had the questions about their world that I do now. It's just bizarre - and a little chauvinistic - to think that 'heroic ages' only pop up in the 20th century, skipping 1000 years until the LSH.

Morrison's DC 1 Million showed a much more vibrant possibility in the DCU with heroic legacies. I'd much rather see the LSH as part of a tapestry of heroic legacies (the JLA, JSA, and even Cinammon, Hawkman, the Green, Brotherhood of the Fist, Shining Knight, B'Wana Beast, Zauriel, etc.), than as some abberation brought on by the odd tastes of one rich white man and three kids. The rebooting of RJ Brande has never, for me, adequately explained the absence of heroes in the 30th century.

Naturally, I don't see why the LSH would have to be COMPLETELY bound by current continuity. Futures are only possibilities, and history is constantly re-written.

By the way, interesting idea about Simone & Waid. Not sure how I feel about it. If it's LSH as teens, it might be odd (like watching Young Justice pretend to be JLA).

Probably not modeled after JLA. In case no one has noticed yet, the new DC in Demand promo page (last page of the comic) refers to the new Legion as "intergalactic Knights of the Round Table".

"After all the buzz created by last month's TEEN TITANS/LEGION special, the future looks bright for the upcoming new LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES monthly, especially with EMPIRE and JLA: YEAR ONE fan favorites Mark Waid and Barry Kitson at the series' helm! Our sources tell us that besides launching the new ongoing with extra-sized issues, Mark and Barry are not planning a reboot or a revamp of what has (or will?) come before -- instead, think intergalatic Knights of the Round Table! Make an early New Year's resolution this December and grab a copy!"

Not to been taken literally, imo, especially the medieval conotation. Think young warriors from different cultures coming together in a utopian setting to uphold truth and justice. Maybe a slightly more retro sensibility than currently and a lot more potential for internecine squabbling.

The costumes help us identify the characters. Most artists don't consistently differentiate the Legionnaires facially so that they can be recognized. Back in the 5 years later era I never knew who was who. I was so relieved when they finally brought back some kind of costume. Otherwise, you have some really good suggestions.

Here is a general question about all the reboot talk I've seen lately. Keep in mind I've never been part of a Comic book forum before so maybe this is normal, but what is the obsession with homosexual characters? It seems to crop up in every thread and several threads are in someway directly born of it. Maybe I'm just slow, but I don't see the big deal, the setting is one THOUSAND years from now and no one gets too bent up about interplanetary dating (with every color of the rainbow, shapeshifters, etc.), so why would gender be a big issue? Perhaps some posters are homosexuals and are just hoping for more characters that reflect their lives?

(If I have offended anyone please feel free to tell me to take a leap.)
