That makes a lot of sense... especially if one incorporates the supposition that Orando was colonized by Zerox, which saw the last of its connections with Earth severed in the late 20th C... misinterpreted legends could have led Voxv to deliberately choose that era based on such tales.

I actually think that's a pretty neat idea too. Val is one of my favorite Legionnaires, and it would be really cool if he could have a mini or something nowadays and go to the 21st Century. I liked that he had a connection to it.

well, there was that image of him in the mass JLA shot for the post-IC, implying he would be 21st-C bound... that hasn't come to pass yet, I assume.

WANDERERS had potential. It took some very obscure characters and reinvented them with a unique idea -- they get killed, then they get reborn and try to find whodunnit -- but the story moved too slowly, as I recall.

I'm only familiar with the Subs April Fools special, circa 1984. Was there a mini-series? The special was Keith Giffen being Keith Giffen: weird, but not particularly funny. Well, Chlorophyll Kid being arrested for being overweight on the planet Bismoll was funny, sorta.

I never read the others ... not even the VALOR series. Mon-El loses something essential to his identity when he's not with the LSH.

A few years ago, I wrote a 56-page Karate Kid Index for the Interlac APA. It's done in the same style as the old Legion Indexes. It's nearly 1 MB in size, so if you download it try to use a high-speed connection. I keep it hosted here:

http://www.infiniteearths.org/LSH/interlac_files/KarateKidIndex.pdf

You should be able to right-click and choose "Save Target As" to save the file to your hard drive.

Timber Wolf was a waste of paper, unfortunately. neither memorable nor dispisable (although the Bloodlines Annual conclusion was a three-flusher).

Valor, I only followed the second half, once it became relevant to LSH. It wasn't bad, and it had Colleen Doran and other decent artwork. But it was clearly just killing time.

KK was a waste of a decent premise, but that was what the 70 were all about.

Wanderers was wasted potential, an interesting premise, but booooring.

Legion of Subsitute Heroes was a fun one-shot, no mini. It was okay, but it was no Ambush bug, and the DCCP appearance was better.

Inferno was what could have been an interesting character, with great art. Lost potential, waste of paper, waste of good art, and a story that was memorable only for how unsatisfying it was.

I'd say it's a tie between Wanderers and Inferno.
