Lance's's got it. Which is why I'm on cloud nine regarding the re-intruduction of Mon and the Witch. Now, if they'd give Projectra a bit more to do...
Blok is not actually a big favourite, in spite of the fact that I use him as my avatar. I just sort of look like him (alas, more fat, less stone hard muscle mass, oh, well.)
Lance's Realm is up.

OK, here we go...
I played in a chess tournament a few weeks ago, and got second place. I was rewarded with 50 bucks for taking second. The question is, how many people were in the tournament?

(a) I left my office and walked to Virginia shortly after American Airlines 77 crashed into the Pentagon. This one is TRUE. My wife called me at my office and said, "They've crashed an American Airlines jet into the Pentagon. Get out of the city, now!" Although what she said contradicted what I had heard on the radio, I got up and left without saying a word to anyone. My wife is not the panicky or impulsive type."
(b) I first learned the WTC had collapsed after I reached Virginia. This one is TRUE. I knew a plane had crashed into the WTC and had seen a picture of the seemilngly modestly damaged building on Washingtonpost.com. I heard radio reports that something, perhaps a helicopter had crashed near the Pentagon. I didn't see the collapse of the WTC buildings until I got to Virginia and ran into a hotel to try to call my wife from a payphone. Pre-9/11, I did not carry a cell phone.
(c) I tried to ride my bike home, but the streets and sidewalks of Washington were too crowded for a bicycle.
(d) I felt panicked when I had to cross the Potomac River because I could see the plume of smoke rising from the Pentagon. This one is TRUE. I had made it to Francis Scott Key Bridge. It connects Georgetown to Arlington, VA. I had made my way through gridlocked streets and sidewalks from near the White House. I still had no idea of the magnitude of what had happened. The smoke from the Pentagon dominated the sky to the south. The Key Bridge is very long and very tall, and on that day it was very crowded. I looked up and down the river for any sign that the bridge might not be safe and then made my way across as quickly as possible.
(e) I sat on my front porch and wept at the news that two friends who had relocated to renovated offices in the Pentagon could not be reached.

Miner has it.

(c) I tried to ride my bike home, but the streets and sidewalks of Washington were too crowded for a bicycle. This one is FALSE. For some odd reason I did not ride my bike to work. I took the subway instead.
(e) I sat on my front porch and wept at the news that two friends who had relocated to renovated offices in the Pentagon could not be reached. This one is TRUE. A recently married couple, both good friends of my wife and me, work for the Department of Defense. They were in the process of moving into newly renovated offices in the Pentagon in the area of the crash site. They were out of the building and both fine, but we were unable to get any information about them for several days.
