I was looking for the name of the structure, which was the Fortress of Qward, but you mentioned the important part.
Give it, Kent!

In the 80s, DC had a number of science fiction/science fantasy miniseries and maxiseries that did not tie into regular continuity at all.

The cast of one of those maxiseries (12 issues) recently made an extremely brief cameo in a Legion-related comic book (not the main books). Name the maxiseries.

Spanner's Galaxy? (The Legion-related book you're referring to is Brave and Bold # 6, right?)

B&B #6 is the issue I was thinking of, but Spanner's Galaxy is not the series in question. I don't remember Spanner's Galaxy among the vast array of images of which I am referring to, but could have been.

Anyway, Spanner's Galaxy only ran 6 issues as I recall, not 12. So close, but no cigar!

one hint:
think Blackhawk, but in space.

If no one even guesses by the end of Sunday, Nov. 4, I'll let someone else post a question.

Blast it, I know the image of guys you're thinking of, but I'm having a hard time remembering their name.

Space Devils? Was that it?

Sun Devils, right.

Between them and Blue Devil, you can bet there were a lot of college sports fans working for DC in the mid-1980s.

What's the name of Jughead Jones's little cousin?

Name two comic book series in which Oscar Wilde appeared as a character, in which he interacted with clearly fictional characters.

As far as I know, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen featured Wilde creations, but not Wilde himself.

Starman is correct.
the other answer I am looking for has never been a DC or Marvel series.
