Shade # 4. Featuring

Click Here For A SpoilerMadame Fatal, making his (that's not a mistake) first genuine appearance since the 40's, resolving his decades-open mystery. Great attention to continuity detail - something that (before the new 52) other writers should have been taking lessons from.

Robinson is back at his Starman finest. I can't wait to see what he does with "Earth-2", which is totally his element.

One more thing - at the end of the book, Shade mentions to another character an adventure in 1903 in Skartaris with a "science hero" named Waldo Glenmorgan. Glenmorgan is the last name that James assigned to Congo Bill - wonder if he's building a connection there. Also wonder if he's setting up a connection to Travis Morgan, as from a branch of that family that shortened the name.

I cannot wait to catch up on this book. Sooo looking forward to reading him writing a character he truly defined.

I have always thought thatClick Here For A SpoilerMadame Fatalwould make a great TV series.

OK, I could be wrong.

Robinson had referenced Madame Fatal a time or two in Starman so I know he's always wanted to get around to the character. Glad to see he's done so.

After so many shitty years, he finally seems to be returning to the Starman era Robinson again!

The only times I ever remembering him referencing the character were a one-panel cameo in Golden Age, and a statement in the first issue of JSA. I suppose he could have slipped in a reference in Starman that I missed.

But I'd say he wants to use every obscure character that has ever existed. It's like he looked through Crisis on Infinite Earths, and said, "But hey, where's Madame Fatal? Or the Jester? Or the Red Bee? Or (etc, etc)"

Hm, I'll have to find it for you. I could swear its a reference made by the Shade to someone about the first cross-dressing superhero. (Unless it was two villains talking, but I can't remember a time where that could have happened).

And yeah, I love when Robinson does that. He has a particular love for Golden Age Quality characters that never had an official appearance in the DCU.

I remember it was in the beginning of JSA, Wildcat mentioned that the only people who attended Fatal's funeral was the cast of La Cage aux Folles.
