OK, the die has been cast. The bar has been raised for comics in 2007: I'd be shocked, shocked if any one comic can beat ASS#6 for best comic of 2007. Let's see if that happens, since if it does, we'll only benefit from it.

ASS#6 is definitely best-of-the-year material.
JSA #2 this week. But I am also really impressed with the potential of Welcome to Tranquility by Gail Simone and Neil Googe.
Why are you laughing at me? It's unkind, as well as puzzling!

This week, JSA #2 just edges, and I mean just, Agents of Atlas #6.

*sigh* I never get to participate here because I usually buy my comics once a month-to-six weeks.

Hmm... maybe we should have a comic-of-the-month thread, as well?

Spirit #2 was awesome but, I have to admit, Fantastic Four #542 won it out for me this week. Maybe it's because JMS is gone (ThanktheLordamen) and Reed's not a horrible father anymore and Johnny is (a bit mature but) awesome and the kids were, y'know, kids. It just worked for me. Especially the Thinker. He cracked me up, man. FF really struck me in a way that I hadn't felt since Waid left. Others that I loved were Cable/Deadpool, Spider-Man: Reign, Shadowpact and Wisdom. Especially that last one.

The best thing I read was the first Walking Dead trade.
For new books- I'd have to say C&DP gave me the most fun.
Just spouting off.

Fifty Two
Were at the 3/4 pole and the drama is just wrenching. Montoya's journey from the bottle in week one has been incredible.

It was going to be Annihilation #6, pretty much by default as the only thing worth even looking at. Then I saw Ghost Rider #94, the "lost" Finale to the 90s series and picked it up on a whim, mostly because I had a couple of quid spare and it uses the old trade dress that I have a soft spot for.
Even not having read the preceding issues (evah), marvellous. Reprints #93 as well as the previously unprinted #94, and it is GREAT.

Nodwick 36: the conclusion of The Baphuma'al Saga, and the last issue (at least for the foreseeable future) of the Nodwick comic book, as Aaron Williams will be devoting most of his attention to P.S.238 (hopefully going *monthly*! Oh, joy! Oh, rapture!!)
"Gee, Brainy, what do you want to do tonight?" "The same thing we do every night, Bouncing Boy: try to take over the United Planets!!" They're B.B. and The Brain ...

Having thought about it for a bit, I'm going with The Vault of Michael Allred #4. Not a story, but just some beautiful artwork.

Of the books I got this past week, I'll go with Sandman Mystery Theatre (#1 & 2). People sharing dreams, invading others' dreams, real-world violence, some hint at a future catastrophe in Chicago, what looks to be the last stand of a great Golden Age character, and a hero successor who doesn't want the part and a "what's real and what's not" theme. Even the two precocious children were tolerable.

2/21: ION has it this week. Just seeing Kyle and Donna together makes me smile. Throw in the hints about DCU's future and I'm a happy camper.
Just spouting off.

Got to go with The Spirit #3.
Cooke continues to wow me with each issue.
It's just good comics, plain and simple.

Powers 23 Bendis and Oeming continue to hit out the park. I still say this is the best book he writes. Alias being a close second.

I have to give it to Brave & the Bold. The Spirit didn't grab me quite like the first two issues did.

I'm going with B&B as well, though I liked the Spirit issue a lot.
