ps/
And for the record, I recently reread THE TITANS 1-50...
I enjoyed Devin Grayson's run (as I did the first time around) as well as Jay Faerber's first handful of issues... don't laugh.

#2's out...

...as one of the few that actually liked #1, I also enjoyed #2. I wish Wally and Garth had been included, though. Tempest pops up in this week's AQUAMAN... acting like someone I've never read before. He would have been *much* better utilized here. ROGUE WAR's another story... it would've taken some fancy footwork to include him. I hope he gets a nice reunion scene with Donna eventually.
I predict Coeus is going to die (go to Ares?) before the conclusion of #4... I hope other mythical Titans stand up to Hyperion.
Roy and Gar's reactions were great-- Nightwing felt a little flat. Maybe he doesn't believe what he's seeing, yet.
I think Donna's narration was somewhat... cold.

I havent been keeping track of Wonder Girl/Troia since she became Troia in the "Seeds" issues of Teen Titans.
So what i would like to know is:
Are Donna and Terry (i think that was the guy's name) still married? Who was Donna's real mother? What happened to the other "Seeds"?

Those are good questions LAM. Donna and Terry divorced and then he was killed along with their child in a car accident. After that I think she was with Green Lantern Kyle Raynor for a while. So about the origin business. YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW I don't have the Donna Troy research staff and typist pool to help me make that post. Suffice it to say what crisis made complicated was made worse by a creative decision Legion continuity's Bogey Man himself, Mr. John Byrne. Donna Troy's origin new makes Pocket universe Superboy easy to explain. (31st century parents tell their kids if they're bad John Byrne will wipe out the timeline and send them to a pocket universe.) Anyone up to explaining the "Many Lives of Donna Troy for LAM? I'm interested in hearing it too.

I just read issue #2, and I thought it was better than the first issue. The art certainly looked much better. Much more "Perez-y" than the first. I'm definitely wondering what Donna's role will be in the bigger picture (Infinite Crisis, or whatever they are calling this event).

I can't read it.
I heart Donna Troy too much to read anything more about her.
She's dead. NO she's not. She's a goddess. No she's not. She's dead. No she's not. She's a goddess.
I can't take it. Retcon, recon, precon, re-retcon. She's one of the characters I can't deal with anymore because I liked her so much.
Some characters they do something dramatic to--and I don't like what they did...but they stick with it...and it slowly evolves. And I learn to accept it.
Like Batgirl and Oracle. Like Supergirl.
But Donna, poor Donna.

I also thought it was better, but I still didn't find it impressive. If it takes four issues to get a decent story, that's too long.

When #1 came out, I was a halfhearted apologist for it, saying "You really have to be a hardcore Donna/Teen Titans fan to follow what's going on."
But now #2 is out, and I must apologize: it's not a question of backstory knowledge. This just isn't a good comic.
I love Donna Troy. I'm glad she's coming back, and I hope she teams up with the Titans again. But this story just isn't working for me. #2 was better than issue 1, but it's still dull as dishwater.
I think I'm experiencing the same problem I have with the endless retreads of the New Gods: "They're cosmic, they're mysterious! They're BORING!" New Cronus is simply uninteresting. Sparta and Athyns are uninteresting. The whole Donna-and-Coeus, sittin'-in-a-tree thing is uninteresting. Can they just leave this stupid alien world and get back to Earth already?

I'm with Graypilgrim. I loved Donna Troy in New Teen Titans. She was like Mary Tyler Moore as a super-heroine -- beautiful, formidable, a little neurotic, but someone everyone could count on. She was in love with a normal guy (that I could aspire to being!), and she even got to learn about a childhood and family that she didn't know she had (something that also happened to me). Then Crisis, Perez, Wolfman and everyone after them totally f*$%!d her up for no damn good reason except they could. The end result is a wonderful character is destroyed, and we're stuck with an inferior Wonder Girl. Nothing they do now can ever repair the damage to this character. Trying to bring her back just makes things worse.
...but you don't have a moment where you're sitting there staring at a table full of twenty-five characters with little name signs that say, "Hi, my superpower is confusing you!"

there's an interview with PHIL over at 'CBR' talking about the mini series !! he says that the 4 parter had been planned to come out weekly etc, and how DONNA's return ties into 'INFINITE CRISIS' !!
Phil mentions some exciting 'hint's and says how he and GEOFF JOHNS talked long and hard about bringing everything together on DONNA's confusing history !!
if GEOFF had a part in DONNA's new [ NEW ] origin, i have faith in it being good, afterall i don't think he's let us down yet !!
Phil even says DONNA get's her own HEADQUARTERS !!??
go check it out .......
Matthew.

I don't think Crisis really destroyed Donna. OK, so the update of WW prevented her from being part of the Amazon family, but I think the idea of linking her to the Titans of Myth was decent as a one-off. I might have liked it better had one of the Olympians saved her because then we could have a closer link to Wonder Woman and a reason for them to bond.

I don't think Donna needs a new origin. Simply ignore the Dark Angel stuff (because explaining her past lives isn't really important to the character) and go with Rhea rescuing her as an infant. Then she has some sort of mild inspiration from Hippolyta's stint as Wonder Woman and we're good to go.

[/b]i'd agree with you there !! the origin that came after the original 'CRISIS' was perfect !! it fitted really well, and as linked DONNA to the 'TITANS of MYTH' !! i never really understood WHY? John Bryne created that DARK ANGEL storyline ?? it just wasn't needed !!?? [ was it ?? ] i guess we'll just have to see how this latest storyline plays out ...... Matthew.

Have to say I'm have not been a Donna Fan and this mini is not going to make me one either.
Apart from the nice legionlore touch Drake mentioned and some pretty pictures there is really nothing in this that interests me. So much so that I almost left 3 on the shelf.

The Sun-eater *was* a surprise! I liked the scene showing Donna taking down Athyns and then Cyborg-- specifically, I liked the moves she seemed to be making. The layout was somewhat cluttered, but the 'fight' choreography was fun.
I'm glad Donna's 'light bulb' finally turned on-- and I'm looking forward to the concluding chapter. I am disappointed that the mythological Titans seem so uniform in outlook.
If they had more individual personalites and agendas, it'd be interesting to read this batch confronting or just interacting with the 'updated' gods and goddesses of Olympus as represented in recent WONDER WOMAN issues.

I agree that they should be more individual, but in this instance they really do have a common goal. The universe is (as far as they can tell) coming to an end, and they don't want to be there when it happens.

So, the first issue bored me to tears but now I have to buy the mini because it has Legion ties. Just great! Sometimes I really hate being an AR collector.

I was geared up for this, but it's kinda been a snore. I don't care for the art very much, either.
Good to have Donna back though.

I like that Kid Flash actually contributed!! Bart makes me happy. Not so much of the caring about Donna, though. I've never really been a fan. I didn't like her in the Titans and I've never really found her appealing.

Is Donna a magic portal to another dimension?? If the Titan gods want to leave why dont they..why use Donna? I am a huge Titan fan from the beginning but I am just bewildered as to why we needed this mini. It could have been in the Titan book.
Looking for Earth Prime.

I read 2 & 3.
Very so-so storywise, excellent art. I felt the battle sequence on pages 2 & 3 of # 3 was one of the best I'd seen in years, possible ever. Mainly because I took note of how excellent it was as I read it. Props to Garcia-Lopez & Perez.
Only 1 more issue, and I'm glad. At least Donna's going to be back.

On the whole, I agree with Lash.
Though part of me wants Jimenez to take a stab at writing Nightwing. Or an "original Titans" project.
