Shit. Sales are in the toilet, selling less than 10,000. I'm afraid this book won't make it past # 20. 166 DOOM PATROL #16 $2.99 DC 9,955

Really bad sign. What sucks is Doom Patrol is BY FAR the best team book that DC is offering these days (and a contender for best superhero team book in comics as a whole). If DP is cancelled, they just should kill the remaining 5 or 6 Titans and let the DP take over that title.

I'll probably start getting back into this book soon so that's at least one extra reader for the sales each month.

Oh oh oh!!!! And I'm Facebook friends with the artist Matthew Clark-- he posted a hella-kick ass drawing of Karen he did for an upcoming issue. Her screentime has been sparse so far but I think that is going to change now that Keith has firmly established his take on our main 3.

OK don't tell him but I totes lifted the image from his page. Karen's fighting that issue's villain: ![[Linked Image]](http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f185/MLLASH/150541_1645566931820_1016280600_31759287_1484638_n.jpg)

Great to see Karen getting some page-time but I really don't like that look for her.
I get what Matthew Clark is trying to do there but is he not aware that the JLA villain Queen Bee already has that exact same look?
Bring back the Perez outfit!
Oh and Mal too while they're at it. As hopefully more than a red-shirt or abusive ex-husband or something.

I really hope it picks up. This book is really good and deserves to be read by more people. But, unfortunately, we all know what happens to the really good books that don't follow some predictable formula for the average comic fans. Sheep just following the herd.

What I think is killing (in a good way!) is that Giff is telling one and two issue stories and not ridonkulous 6-issue padded-to-the-gills "arcs".
We NEED Doom Patrol to stick afound!

I picked up the latest issue and liked it enough to try the next one - I have been on the fence about it since this series started, I have never really collected DP except for a brief stretch duing the Dorothy Spinner days, but I've liked all the preview stuff I have seen and I love Giffen, so hopefully it will find its way on my regular list!

Why in the space-time continuum isn't this selling more? I really don't get my fellow comic book fans from time to time...
Though I get that featuring Bumblebee isn't going to draw scads of fans, it tickles me to no end.
Sigh- I'd hate to think that the only way to save this book was forcing a Bat character or a GL or a Superman cast member onto the roster.
But if it *is*, I think the creators should do so-- like Johnny Quick-on-the-spot, man.

Doom Patrol #17 is another reminder why DP is DC's best superhero team comic book these days and a contender for best in the industry. Giffen masterfully tells an exciting story with new concepts, highlights the changes in the status quo, gives us enough Bumblebee to make us rapid for more and continues to focus on the best team dynamic in comics: Cliff, Rita and Larry.
Love Karen's role and I'm enjoying how Giff has me begging for more of her, Jane, Danny, Rocky, the Bug and more.
Veronica Cale is an interesting change to the Chief--close enough to maintain that compelling dynamic but with some clear differences.
The art by Clark, Randall and Livesay has a very unique feel to it that by now is entirely "Doom Patrol". Whereas I wasn't originally a fan, I now realize how much I miss it when we dont get that style for a month.
DP is an already excellent comic only getting better. I heartily recommend everyone cancel their JLA, X-Men and Titans comics and buy this instead. There's no excuse not to be reading!

There's no excuse not to be reading! Would an irrational hatred of Giffen count as an excuse? Seriously, though, I do give Giffen a fair chance once in a while, like the JLI trades, or like the Booster Gold issue with Emerald Empress, only to always come out disappointed.

# 17:
Whoa. The Aristocrats are some seriously sick @%&$!!!
I will enjoy very much watching the DP (hopefully) kick their asses next issue. And I sure hope that twisted freak doesn't get his hands on Karen~~!!!

Those wacky Aristocrats! You think they'll shake off their terminal ennui and don costumes and jump into American-style super-villainy? I could imagine that...
Negative Man's dialogue continues to be the best thing in each issue. He's rapidly becoming a favorite, if he wasn't already. Touches like the post-it notes on the fridge and more panel time for Bumblebee make this a title worth looking forward to each month.
You think Bumblebee's now an 'official' official member of the DP?
It's an enjoyable read, month after month- though often challenging (a good thing!).

# 18 was THE BEST ISSUE YET, loved it.
The Aristocrats were both hysterical and horrifying.
The only thing I'm not clear on-- WHO was the father writing to ("making do"-- *shudder*)... there at the end? It looked like he was writing the missive on his own walls?
I hate to seem dense, can anyone help me out here?

This series is winding down, but not losing any of its quality. Issue #21 would be a good jumping on point if the series were going to continue. As it stands, it serves to smooth out some of the continuity blips and gives a nice overview of how Cliff fit in to different versions of the team.
