Damn them to burn in hell in ways that humans cannot understand. Its been four days! Four days it took me to figure out how to fix my computer to get rid of that damn antivirus live malware. I've had to put off printing contracts, agreements, looking up clients....not to mention that I couldn't post here.

I'm sorry. I try to be pretty cool about this stuff, but I really don't care about habeus corpus for them. Take'm out and shoot em. Don't let this be their audition for a nice government job or security job for some big internet company. Just shoot'em.

I got lucky. I didn't have to re-install my system. I didn't lose all the photos that we haven't had time to back up. But how many other folks do because some richbitch computer wonderkin's with too much time on their hands and no understanding of the damage they inflict on real people run that shit!

I'm with you, buddy. My mom-in-law has had this "AntiVirus Pro 2010" malware that I can't help her shake at all. We use MalWareBytes to (supposedly) remove it, but it always comes back. She's taken to booting up her machine in Safe Mode all the time now.

Chaim, here's what you do. do a cold crash and turn it off by either unplugging it or just hold the power button down.

When it restarts, it will give you an option. Restart in safe mode with networking.

This will let you do what you need to do which is find a restore point far back enough that the virus wasn't on your computer. I went back to december for safety. Then, just do a restore.

Malwarebytes doesn't get all the little time bombs the antivirus leaves around your computer waiting to trip you up.

I also use Norton as an internet security protection service, and they let it right in. Pretty much useless as far as I am concerned when it comes to the big threats. I turned it off when it all happened. Funny thing is, when I just cut it back on tonight, it could get all busy and start telling me about what it was doing to protect my computer. I've had that, like twice. (VirusProtector 2009, IIRC.) So annoying. I had to go online and find the steps to remove it (there were a dozen sites, and each had a different list of names the components hid under, so, to be sure, I zapped anything on one of those lists).

It worked, but it's important to be really careful with the registry changes (backing up before each one is advisable, just in case one of them turns out to be something you needed...).

Given that I'm darn near computer illiterate, I was all impressed with myself the first time I fixed it all by myself. The second time, my computer had a hardware malfunction at the same time, and died violently after I 'fixed' it. I thought for months that I'd accidentally nuked my registry or something. Turns out I just needed some new parts...

Computer viruses suck. I'd rather have a real virus.

Is it to hurt people for pure shits and giggles? Are they really that small, pathetic, and useless in real life that they resort to this type of action for attention?
