I’ve been away re enacting for the weekend so I only got to see School reunion last night.

Like Bevis I thought this was one of the best episodes yet seen in both series. This was much more an ensemble cast with Tennant not dominating everything.

Click Here For A SpoilerI liked the way the story opened, with the Doctor and Rose having already been investigating the school for days, it gave a sense of time passing so to speak. As an “old timer” Sarah Jane was my first crush and I was looking forward to seeing her in action again, but was also worried that, as time takes it toll, she would be somehow disappointing. But no, it was as perfect as these things can be. In one 45 minute show we got echoes of all the things a “Sarah Jane” type assistant did. She was an investigative journalist, and she was able to stand on her own, she was competent, she was brave, yet we also got the screaming (in the dining room as the bats attacked) and the vulnerability and sadness as the doctor left her behind yet again.

And then we got K9. A brilliant little homage to the dog which as every one says led to some of the best lines in the show.

Click Here For A Spoiler“Leave the little shooty dog thing” or “oh my god I’m the dog” And my favourite line at the end when ASH calls K9 a bad dog and a really pleased K9 replies “affirmative”

A great ending as well as we get to see the tender side of the Doctor, and he gets to say goodbye to Sarah.

Click Here For A SpoilerLike Bevis I am not pleased that Mickey is in the Tardis now, but I can see (especially from Roses reaction) that this could have some great dramatic potential as the writers explore the sexual tension between the three of them now travelling in a little box. I am wondering if Mickey’s jealousy will lead to some great pivotal moment, maybe he will try to resurrect the Time lords so that the doctor will go home and leave Rose with him?

So all in all a great episode and lets hope this standard of writing and production values continue for another series.

Faithfull

Billie Piper has made it official. She's leaving Dr. Who at the end of series 2. The article hints at a "stunning exit" for her character Rose.

The article also mentions that filming on series 3 will begin this summer with 13 episodes planned and another Christmas special to come at the end of this year.

It's good to see that someone out there has a sense of humour.

Anyone have any idea when Season 2 premieres on SciFi?

The only consistent feature of all of your dissatisfying relationships is you.

Don't judge me!

Beware - spoilers present if you haven't seen the end of season 2 yet.

BTW - for all of you still waiting to see Season 2 - it's F'n'A!

Okay, so I've never been a fan. But a friend convinced me to watch the show. We finished series 1, and I liked it. Except when they replaced the Doctor. I was liking him.

The new guy- Tennant, took some time, and I know my response was just becuase I liked Eccelston so much. Series 2 is going well- I just inished the episode with Elton and L.I.N.D.A.- the group of Doctor stalkers. It was fun.

Then Rose said the dumbest thing at the end of the show. "They keep trying to separate us. But they never will." And the preview for the next episode seems ominous.

I'm scared...

Just spouting off.

CJ,

Have you seen the 2 part Cybermen origin episode? That was the best story in my opinion.

Where are you up to in the States at the moment? Series 4 has just finished here in the UK and, for the most part, it's the best so far. Catherine Tate (who probably isn't known at all in the US but is a comedienne who I hated before the start of the series) is the new assistant and by far the best of the NuWho (yes, even better than Rose). There are some absolutely stonkingly great episodes, especially the two parter in the library, and some just classic scenes. There are a few episodes that are complete misfires as well as with the first three series but it's worth watching simply because the good episodes are *really* good.

Just finished series 2, with the Cybermen/Dalek clash. And.. snif snif.. I don't like the end.

Bevis, I don't know where the US market is in series 4. But friends of mine download from the UK, and they also rave about the finale. And give me some hope.

Ah, the finale is one that I haven't raved about. At least not in a good way. But it seems to have split fandom in half with some absolutely loving it and some absolutely hating it. The rest of the series is mostly gold though.

That said in series 3 you will get the absolutely best episode of any of the NuWho series with 'Blink'. It's easily the creepiest and best written episode of NuWho and probably one of the best pieces of TV for the last few years. Even if you don;t see any of the other episodes from the series it's worth downloading it from somewhere and watching it.

My deal-er friends suggested that very same ep.

By the by, Steven Moffat- the executive producer- is he the same one from Coupling, the BBC show a few years back?

Bevis,

I saw the two part Library episode and agree that it was very good.

Tonight the Sci-fi channel is showing the episode entitled Midnight

It is indeed the same Stephen Moffat. Of NuWho he wrote The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances, The Girl In The Fireplace, Blink and the library episodes. All by far the best episodes of each series. Oh, he also wrote the Time Crash mini-episode with Tennant and Davidson (worth checking out on YouTube just for it's brilliance).

He's also the genius behind Press Gang (if it ever got shown in the US) and is scripting the Speilberg/Jackson Tintin films. He's taking over from Russell T Davies in 2010 as the lead writer for Dr Who (after four one of specials next year by Davies) and it's probably the best news for ages.
