Feeling curious, I found this article . Cool, there was something about it that felt more American with a heavy Japanese influence. Ah, that explains their recent appearance at the Filmore. Wish I went there after all.

Y'know I really, really want their most recent album. My one hesitation is that, while I like the Teen Titans theme song, I think the Japanese version is soooo much cooler. However, I can't get "Planet Tokyo" out of my head, so I guess I'll have to pick it up....

So did anyone watch it last night? I have to say I enjoyed it. I really want all their cds (the non-import ones at least) more now.

Yes, I watched the first episode. I have the new CD with the theme song and the Titans' theme. It's very good, they go from Rock-a-Billy to Pop then throw in some Latin beats and Boogie Woogie then they Rock out. On cartoonnetwork.com there is a clip of them performing live, doing a Ska/Reggae tune.

I finally was able to find The Hi Hi PuffyAmiYumi Show soundtrack the other day at Capital Records here and I ordered their other albums too. I like the soundtrack so much I've been listening to it practically non-stop.
I'm still tuning into the toon and I still find it quite enjoyable.

I got the Illustrated History album the other day and I'm loving it as much as I thought I would. Oh here's a good site for their lyrics. http://www.poplyrics.net/waiguo/pop/puffyamiyumi/index.htm

I got the Nice album last week and it's more fantastic work. The Japanese version of "Planet Tokyo" is especially interesting because the melodies the same but it's got a completely different title and lyrics. It's called "Red Swing", either version is still quite enjoyable though. Come on everyone, give this duo a chance. There's a good chance you'll get hooked.

Just wondering if you guys know that Puffy Ami Yumi's touring the East Coast of the US in August. Five dates:
Thurs, August 18th - Irving Plaza, New York
Sat, August 20th - Philadelphia, Theatre of the Living Arts
Mon, August 22nd - 9:30 Club, Washington D.C.
Wed, August 24th - Sommerville Theatre, Boston
Sat, August 27th - Vic Theatre, Chicago
I may well go to that D.C. gig.

I'm really enjoying Nice, tho I wish it included the Teen Titans theme in Japanese. Too bad, too, it's just an East Coast tour, though with Saint Etienne bound to tour soon, I can keep my fingers crossed for a team-up...
