Hey gang, you probably already know, but if not, I thought I'd turn you on to Alan Moore's version of The Legion known as 'The League of Infinity' from the pages of his incredible 'Supreme'. Basically, the LoI are a group of time travelling kids from various eras. A few have distinctly Legionish names like 'Future Girl', 'Boy Achilles', and 'Orgone Lad'(hehheh).

Here's link to a pic.

And here's a link to their history at Plantinum Studios

Any of favorites? The Pantheon of Heroes (Big Bang Comics) were cool.

Colossal fan of Moore's SUPREME right here! *waving* League of Infinity was hella-kewl.

Also enjoyed Imperial Guard from the X-Men.

Another Legion homage could be found in the pages of NORMALMAN, a comic created by Jim Valentino (now of Image fame) and published in the '80s. It was called the Legion of Superfluous-Heroes, if I remember right. One member was Frat Boy, who was designated by a beer can on the mission monitor board.

Anybody remember more details about the LoSFH?

Image recently published the normalman 20th Anniversary Special, which does not contain any references to the Superfluous Heroes in the stories. There is an issue-by-issue synopsis of the original series and norm's other published appearances.

IIRC, the Superfluous Heroes saw norm in trouble on their time-viewer and decided to help him, but couldn't go into action without having a Roll Call. Their membership was so large that this took 6 or 7 issues. When it was almost finished, something distracted the leader (who I think was called Leader Lad), causing him to lose his place. He decided it was necessary to start over! This so incensed the assembled membership that, as one sentient, they unleashed their powers on their overly bureaucratic leader. The effect of all those powers used simultaneously in a confined space was an explosion which destroyed their Headquarters and everyone in it! Thus, they ended up having no effect whatsoever on the story; they were strictly a background running gag.

"Gee, Brainy, what do you want to do tonight?"
"The same thing we do every night, Bouncing Boy: try to take over the United Planets!!"
They're B.B. and The Brain ...

Thanks BRM. I dropped Normalman after a couple of issues but I always wondered what happened with that gag.
The only one I can ever remember is Buoy Boy but I recall that the names were mostly pretty funny. (very LMBP now that I think on it)

Eye Lash Lass:

The Pantheon of heroes were:
'Brain Boy', 'Clone Boy', 'Tele-Lass', 'Ghost Girl', 'Dragonfist', 'Snowstar', 'Robojudge', and a bunch of unnamed characters.

They appeared in issue # 18 of Big Bang Comics (image comics) and in two cover mock ups in The Big Bang History of Comics (featuring 'Ultragirl and the Pantheon of Heroes''.

Also LOVED the Legion in Amalgams 'Spiderboy 2099'

Spiderboy Team-Up #1, i think it was, paradied pre-boot, post-boot, and TMK.... very fun story. Salu Van Dyne was my favorite of the batch, although Timberwolf By Night and Vance Cosmic were kinda cool, too.

Count me as another fan of the Guardian Legion from the Amalgam line. I wish they would have paired the Legion up more specifically than with a bunch of Guardians and whichever X-Men/Marvel characters had powers that matched, but some of the combinations were still pretty fun.

The Legion in Mxyzptlk's one-shot was incredibly funny too. Batter-Eater Lad, Button-Eater Lad, and Butler-Eater Lad!

"Where's her butler?" indeed. Some really fun, but incredibly silly stuff, in that one.

Spiderboy Team-Up.

My favorite was simply 'Chamelion'. What a no-brainer!

I tracked down a copy of Normalman the Novel that was published by Slave Labor in 1987. It contains the entire run. I'll start posting just the Legion of Superfluous Heroes parts when I have the images ready.
