Jacques was shown making Excalibur invisible in Great Darkness.

His hair isn't gray. It has a white streak in it because Darkseid scared the bejeezus out of him, also in Great Darkness.

In The Invisible Invader, (Superboy 76?) it's stated that Lyle's formula casts an aura around him that affects his clothes.

My take on the blaster scene was that the gun was invisible, but the artist showed it differently than Jacques because it was inorganic and Jacques is organic, so the invisibility field looked different on it than it did on him. If that makes any sense.

The reason why fans are willing to accept something impossible like flying people is that flying is explicitly a power. It's supposed to be impossible. Being impossible because of ignorance or mistake isn't the same thing as being impossible on purpose.

LOL!! You rock, Cobie!!

It slays me how some fans are willing to accept a thousand impossible, ridiculous, unbelievable concepts in comic books- then bust a blood vessel over a particular one, like Tyroc's power working in space!!
It's like some weird, selective criticism!! Highly amusing!![/b]
Yes, but on the other hand, the ability to fly without aid is foreign to us, as humans.
Sound, and how it works, isn't, so our minds are more likely to bulk at how it's used.

But I agree with the general idea that in the DCU, sound can pretty much do whatever it wants since the rules there are very different than the rules here.

That being said, I just loved Tyroc.
I'd like him in white but I love his look and his attitude.
That's new for me since I didn't like him at all before.

And Shady making a comment on Jo's IQ is funny, since Levitz always put her IQ at a 5 in the Companion books.
That's the same as Jo's and about average for the Legionnaires with only Brin rated lower, at a 4.
Normal humans are about a 3.

I was surprised to see so much of Tasmia and Tinya.
Shady doesn't seem familiar to me.
I guess I've totally given my loyaltiy to Umbra.
Especially since she's dumped Lar for no apparent reason.
Oh, well.

I love Gates and will continue to love him.
I'm sorry that he feels used, though.
I was surprised that he stayed in the retroboot and I think it's out of character for him since his closest relationship was with Brainy 5.1.

It's too bad that Earth Man is nuts.
He's actually incredibly effective as an adult Legionnaire.

To answer someone's question, Nemesis Kid is dead.
Jeckie killed him after he killed Val.
The first time he died.
He's redundent, too since Earth Man does pretty much the same thing, doesn't he?
He drains and NK copied.
Duplicate Boy duplicated?
Hummmm.

I think the Dreamy scene became the Daxamite female scene instead, but maybe not.

Saturn Queen is certainly beautiful.
The Legion is old enough to be close to being her contemporaries now and she's a handful.
I wonder if Brainy is going to have longlasting bad or even good, sideeffects from her invasion of his mind?

And if I were Mysa, I'd welcome 10,000 Titanians to Zerox.
Most of the population was killed by Mordru and telepaths might have no problem with the magical drifts and changes.
They, on the other hand, would find protection and privacy there.
imo

I agree that something is screwy.
I just don't know what since this Brainy has always been portrayed as pretty far out there.

I don't thinks so. I think Saturn Queen was surprised/shocked when she entered Brainy mind because his mind and thoughts are so complex, even by Coluan standards. It caught her off guard despite her experience invading innocent beings' minds. She was able to overcome this though and manipulate Brainy anyway, given that level of experience.
I guess even she has limits sometimes.

Maybe they should give all the guys "boob windows."
Or pant windows...though it would never fly with the comics authority laugh if not that bring back Disco Cosmic Boy costumes for every guy.

Remember we got a peek into Brainy's mind during the Universo Saga...that it was so vast and complex and far above her own that she couldn't cast herself as a self Image in it only an electron (i think it was an electron). And if Saturn Queen kept doing that to Brainy...he would have recovered on her and turned things around just like saturn girl said about him breaking out of universo's mind control.

I don't believe he's nuts. I think he was a legion fan got really disappointed that he wasn't made a legionnaire then attacked them...went to prision for it...got more bitter then someone discovered that artificat saying Superman wasn't from Krypton (wonder who made it...Luthor? General Lane? Brainiac?) and he found a better rationale for his anger and hatred..."these people who aren't even human and from Earth...lied about the Greatest Hero ever all to proclaim alien superiorty and were prejudiced against me since I'm a human and from Earth!!!" At least that's how I'm thinking his mindset is now...not crazy but bitter. Sorta like Lex Luthor pre-crisis (now too but pre-crisis suits the argument better).

By the way ... Why is no one asking how Nura is back in the 31st century when we had that Panel about team 21st/Espionage squad rescuing her from S.T.A.R. Labs?

As far as Dreamy's rescue reveal goes, I chalk it up to a creative tease from The Powers That No Longer Be [TPTNLB] and choose to absolve Mr Levitz from any obligations thereof.

That particular framing device for scene jumps is getting a little bit artificial, and is leading to people saying things that feel out of character, IMO.

It was awesome when they used it, in, oh, I think it was Watchmen #4, to highlight Dr. Manhattan's trans-temporal nature, with dialogue from one scene tying into events occuring in another unrelated scene, but this isn't flowing as well. The transition from Brainy to Naltor was very awkward (although the transition from Shady darkening the crowd to Tinya fading out of darkness as she regains consciousness was neat).

Candle... NK didn't duplicate powers... he would take on the power that was needed to defeat a particular opponent. So he was kind of the anti-Duplicate Boy.

Didn't all the telepaths from Titan get their powers from Saturn's rings? Would future generations of the former Titan lose this ability if they were permanently relocated elsewhere?

I thought the best aspect of LSH#2 was the variety of different Legionnaires shown, even if it was only for a page or two each. THIS is what the Legion should be - strength in numbers - and what will set it apart from other team titles.

I am enjoying both Adventure and LSH so far.

Actually, I think I was the one to mention Nemesis Kid earlier in the thread, but not in the context of Earth Man's powers. I was puzzled by something Saturn Queen mentioned in her narration:

I come home to see if it's true that Titan was destroyed and find you Legionnaires in the rubble...always bothersome. Nemesis Kid was right--we should have killed you all.

Why would she mention Nemesis Kid? Is she recalling a past conversation or something recent? If the former, when would the two have ever met? (they weren't in the LSV at the same time, at least not "on-camera".) If the latter, does that mean Nemesis Kid is back? (If so, could that factor in to why Val came back?)

I found that very puzzling--or else it could just be another example of faulty memeory on Paul's part! shrug

It sounds like a reference to the LSH-LSV war from v3, but of course Saturn Queen wasn't in that story.

Maybe the other LSVers told her about Nemesis Kid and the whole plan to kill all the LSHers, and she's just agreeing with the dude even though she never met him.

Yeah, it occurred to me that perhaps Paul is misremembering about SQ and how she never appeared in stories set in the the present until TMK (which is out of continuity). Of course, it's possible she was with the LSV but remained behind the scenes.

Still, it was a puzzler for the more anal Legion fans among us. (moreso than Tyroc's powers working in space, IMO tongue )

Of course, he could just retcon her into Esper Lass's place, and I don't think most Legion fans would care. wink

I consider myself barely a '2' on the Anal Legion Fan Scale, but I definitely noticed the NK reference! Maybe I'm moving up the scale? smile

With SQ the thing is, I think, that maybe fans think there was some profound reason for SQ never being shown in contemporary stories relative to the Legion. It would be cool if there was, but it's likely a combination of oversight and fanboy writers keeping it going.

Question: Did Cosmic King ever appear in a contemporary/non-future story before he appeared in the Baxter's initial LSV War storyline?

No. He makes reference to the fact that he just recently left his native Venus, and is surprised that the Legionnaires recognize him (which presumably they do from their previous encounters with the Adult LSV).

Odd, then, that Paul would include Cosmic King and not Saturn Queen in that storyline.

Well, I finally got the issue.

Not too crazy about Tyroc being bald, but I can live with the costume.

Doesn't bother me that Tyroc is "found" so simply, but Dream Girl's absence seemed more significant to me, between the fact that she's the one who told Brainy he'd need the lightning rod, and the vision the White Witch had in Lo3W # 2. I was hoping that there would be some search for her.

I like how the Earth-Man plot is coming along, and Lightning Lad was well-handled as well.

Wow!

There was so much that I loved about this issue that I don't know where to begin. The Legion feels like a team again, with all their disparate personalities and powers.

So Dawnstar, Dream Girl and Gates are on Naltor. Sounds promising as does the return of Tyroc! YAY for that!

Saturn Queen was a welcome antagonist and I too wonder what she saw in B5's mind. The fact that she recognized Tyroc was interesting as he hasn't really appeared with the Legion but it's a minor point so I won't quibble.

I'm still waiting for Sensor Girl and Star Boy but half the fun of this is waiting to see where they will appear.

I still wish that Paul would find some way to bring this Earth's Kinetix into the fold, but I doubt that will happen.

The Earth Man story doesn't do much for me but I am willing to see how it plays out. And that's the best part of this new Legion, it truly excites me and makes me ache for the next 30 days to pass quickly.
