Crow Pie 1 large crow, plucked Stuffing of your choice Salt and pepper Shortening or lots of butter Flour 2 pie crust mixes 2-3 hard-boiled crow eggs Stuff the crow. Loosen joints with a knife but do not cut through. Simmer the crow in a stew-pan, with enough water to cover, until nearly tender, then season with salt and pepper. Remove meat from bones and set aside. Prepare pie crusts as directed. (Do not bake.) Make a medium thick gravy with flour, shortening, and the juices in which the crow has cooked, and let cool. Line a pie plate with pie crust and line with slices of hard-boiled egg. Place crow meat on top. Layer gravy over the crow. Place second pie dough crust over top. Bake at 450 degrees for 1/2 hour. Eat while it's hot, and then keep eating until whoever it is forgives you. ... Deeee-lish! ... Well, yes, it's in there. I'm skeptical of the veracity of anything about ol' Lester around here. Nothing personal, Rhino. The sketch is indeed on the last text page in my copy, picked up at AmazingComics(.com) in Long Beach this afternoon. Another gorgeous TwoMorrows book, and I'm looking forward to reading it this weekend. Glen Cadigan was adamant about the art-scan contributors to The Legion Companion (including me) only sending along professionally created Legion art. I was thus also highly skeptical about DC consenting to fan artists' new work being included, such as that of Dean. I'm glad that DC opened up its requirements, or that Glen persuaded them of the change, or however it happened. The boost being given to fan analysis, art, and fiction in this book had to give the legal types more to worry about, given their usual concerns, especially about trademarks.

Can I have a piece of that Steve? I doubted too and I apologize to Rhino for that as well.
Wahoo!! Dean's been published and is a bonafide Legion celebrity artist now. We're so proud of you, Dean-o! That rocks bubba.

I bought the book but I haven't read much of it yet. I was quite pleased to see not only the Dean Lee pic but also a couple of different Legion World plugs throughout the book. The web address for Cru's LMBP Outpost site is included in the book as well! There's also a bunch of Scott Johnson's cartoons from Legion Pics and various other groups printed in the book, which I thought was very cool! I've always loved Scott's work, and it was nice to see it again.

*choke!* Dave Cockrum hated Matter-Eater Lad? Well, at least he liked his costume!

I was THRILLED to see Dean's art included! How cool is this?
There're bunches of articles I haven't read yet, but I noticed Keith Giffen's interview... particularly his comments on Element Lad. Sheesh! I don't agree with his take on Jan at *all*. What's more, I don't really see it represented in his use of E-Lad... except maybe in the pretense of the 'guardian of Trom' that Jan used to keep folks away from his abandoned planet.
I'm looking forward to reading the article containing Legionnaire's astrological profiles, in addition to many others.
Good work, original Legion Outposters and the producers of this volume.

And the timing of its release could NOT have been better, coming out during the month-plus stretch when we have no new Legion book to get.

WWWWHHHEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWW!
I have been waiting FOREVER for this thing to be made public!!!! Glen contacted me a LONG time ago, asking if I'd like to have that sketch of Lester printed. I think my answer was something like HELL YEAH I WOULD!!!! I asked him in what context will the sketch be used. I asked him if I could post this news to my online buddies. He gave a clever response, something like, "Don't you want it to be a surprise?" Well...yeah.
Here's something "fun"...I STILL HAVEN'T SEEN THE BOOK! I think I requested it at my comic shop, but I don't remember... (DUH, huh?) I'm goin' Monday!!!
Thank you for all the nice comments here! I can't wait to see the book and be able to comment on everything with everyone. I was and am thrilled to be included!!!!!

I neglected, after all the gyrating about whether it was a joke, to congratulate you, Dean. It was a wizard notion (even better than a Wizard notion) to have this text-heavy book include Scott Johnson's "staff artist" additions and Dean's coda.

Thanks, Cru and Grey! I have lots more to say about the book. I picked it up today. I've only barely begun reading the articles, but I got a major kick out of the artwork throughout! Made me remember how much I miss Scott Johnson. I gotta email that man!

I can't even find the damn book out here! It seems as though I'm the only Legion addict in this lousy desert we call California.

Scott Johnson ROCKS! I've loved his art ever since he started posting them on the LegionPics group back in the day, and he always seemed like such a nice guy. Glen's use of his work in the book was inspired. The drawings fit right in, as if they had been drawn specifically for the book rather than collected from a couple years worth of work.
Does anyone know if Scott has an online gallery of his Legion work anymore? Dave King used to have one on his site (as well as a gallery of his own stuff, which was also great!) but I can't seem to find that one anymore.

Scott has long had a Website for his Sputnik Design Works firm, but he apparently no longer has his Legion drawings on line there. He once did, in a semi-hidden location, but I've long since lost the URL. You might ask him: scott@sputnikdesignworks.com
