Actually I think this started with Reagan, but when Clinton got elected, the "Right" really continued to used "President" Bush. Prior to that it was always Former President Carter, Former President Nixon. But once that person died, it would go back to President Kennedy, President Eisenhower.

One good thing came from this issue. Did you notice that Violet's name on the biography was "Violet" and NOT LeViathan. I think this is the first official change that I've seen.

i actually enjoyed this issue on most parts !!!

but i would agree on some of the artwork from TnT !!! some pages and profiles looked great !!! and others did look ugly !!! [ sorry guy's !!! i'll put it down to a busy workload ... ]

and the Garth/Jan storyline does need more action !!! Imra, Ayla and the rest of the team, would be visiting him !!! i suppose after FOUNDATIONS will will get a resolve to this !!!

DnA shouldn't have brought the charcters back until after FOUNDATIONS !!! then we would have this waiting period, where it seems no one what to interact with him .....

Matthew.

In fact, they're so secret they're not revealed here.
I noticed that they've stopped calling it "Secret Files & Origins," since lately there really haven't been any "origins" to speak of.

Nor, as you pointed out, any real "secrets." Unless you consider erroneous recall of established continuity a "secret."

I've pretty much stopped buying the Secret Files for every other title; I guess it's a testament to my devotion as a Legion fan that I'll continue to buy the Legion ones no matter how unspectacular they are...

Picked up my two copies today (get 2 of everything with the Legion) and I have to agree with Stu. Its only my loyalty to the Legion that I bought it. What a load of garbage. And I'm sorry but this issue sealed it for me. No more multiple artist issue please! If you do it again, how about getting some who have a similar style. Batista and Kirk would compliment each other.

I don't recall who said it but I'm going to second it. START NUMBERING THE PAGES AGAIN! Why the HELL give a breakdown of who did what pages when the pages aren't numbered! And it isn't just the Legion. The last couple of DC books I picked up didn't have any page numbers. Is this some kind of stupid cost-saving measure?

I never looked at it that way.

Actually I like to have a copy to read and scan from. So that one doesn't exactly stay in mint condition.

Maybe it's to discourage fans from tracking down specific examples in their criticisms. (If so, it's failed utterly.)

One more TnT problem to point out....

On that first two-page splash, where Shikari and Trudy see Jaz, Cos and Imra coming in for a landing.... well, that's the same art used for those three on the upcoming cover of Legion #29. Gotta be a workload/deadline problem for those guys....

All I can say is Balderdash. This is supposed to entice new readers into the Legion?

The whole Garth in Jan's Body (and having both powers) reminds me of the five years later awfulness (and I did drop the Legion because of it). I never liked the Jan becoming the deranged Progenitor. I didn't buy the explanation. Jan's power may have bordered on being god-like, but they didn't make him immortal. So, I don't like being reminded about what I consider the worst thing ever done to a character.

I am not looking forward to the current story line. It just screams of the Great Darkness Saga II and I don't have any faith in Abnett and Lanning that it will be even half as good as the original.

as far as Superboy in the Legion - ho-hum It is not like we are going to see any great character development for Kon-el.

This has made me start questioning if I want to continue reading the Legion, at least this Legion as written by Mssr. Abnett and Lanning.

What market? I'm keeping them for future posterity not investment. If I were I would have sold a whole storage shed full of X-Men and such when the market was high.

Well, we ARE capable of counting, annoying though it might be to have to do so. The art breakdown isn't COMPLETELY useless.

Probably more an artistic thing...note the full-bleed artwork.

I just hope that Garth and Jan aren't being reintroduced to be phased into one character...much like Wildfire/Sun Boy was in the preboot (or the current Atom'x/Blast off Wildfire).... I'd love to see these two characters return, as two different entities! There is only so much the most loyal Legion fan can swallow.

I wonder how long Jarth will stay like that? Him having his lightning powers too would make Ayla kind of superfluous. Will his he and his teammates come to terms with his change? Or is he in for another death/rebirth/change? And for that matter, how long would we have to wait to see this situation resolved? Somehow I don't think we'd be lucky enough to see the end of this plotline by the end of the Foundations arc. I have a feeling we'll have to wait until the Credo storyline before this is fully resolved.

I just read through Secret Files more carefully and noticed that as well. It'll be interesting to see how much they have Garth use his inherent lightning powers in the upcoming issues. And I wonder whether Mekt knows that Garth's back?

A few other things that I didn't notice the first time around:

- Nura's last name is now given as "Nal." Not that I'm complaining, but wasn't it established that her postboot name is "Nura Schnappin"?

- Now that Ferro is permanently stuck in iron form, he must be incredibly heavy. I wonder if he's ever broken through the floor after walking into a room? Or maybe he constantly has his flight ring operational at a level sufficient to render him a more normal weight.

- Much has been made of the fact that Sensor hates the way she looks -- probably because Sensor herself is always saying how ugly she is. But the problem here isn't just that she appears different per se; it's the fact that she is different, and fundamentally so. It's interesting that she understands her unhappiness with the change -- or, at the least, articulates that unhappiness -- as being a function of being unhappy with her "ugliness." I'd think that the deeper horror, and maybe one she has yet to vocalize, is simply the idea that her bodily integrity has been so inherently altered without her consent. I think just the fact that one has been physically changed in such a wholesale fashion, by a force outside one's control, would be profoundly disturbing in and of itself.

- Once again, Violet is enlarged, for apparently no valid purpose (other than to visually emphasize her powers, and to contribute to the variety of the pin-up composition). But, taking the role of armchair psychologist here, I wonder whether Violet subconsciously chooses to stay large so as to provide herself with a constant affirmation of her self-worth. I know she's become a lot less shy and more self-confident over the years for any number of reasons, but I also wonder whether her inherent shyness was amplified when she first joined the Legion because her way of contributing to the team literally cause her to be smaller than them. And, conversely, I wonder whether she now gets a boost in self-confidence because she is literally head and shoulders above her teammates -- and thus chooses to stay enlarged, even when she technically doesn't have to. (What's her rationale in that pin-up page, after all -- "Brainy's lab isn't crowded enough as it is; I think I'll get big, lie down, and take up every spare inch of walking space"?)

I was quite disappointed to see Jan's powers once again used in a questionable fashion. I agree with everyone regarding the art. The issue itself, though, was good at serving its purpose--explaining the Legion to anyone who just jumped on because of Superboy. Maybe now we can get through a large number of issues without having to hear the team origin again. Sensor must also be mad that Jarth is stealing her schtick of staying alone in her room because of her looks.

But she changed it to "Nal", because that, like, just says she's from Naltor!

Hmm, I really should read the "official" DC boards more. Looks like someone made this same observation on a thread over there.

Also of note was another poster's amusing use of the phrase "Purple Mountains' Majesty" to refer to big Violet lying about in Brainy's lab. laugh
