Basically Computo has employed one basic strategy for fighting the Legion: he turns all the machines evil and they have to fight them. I'd like to see him go for something a bit more subtle, but I'm not sure what. Any ideas?

I liked the idea of Computo assuming human form in the character Venge.

Computo could do this again, but just accomplish his evil plans by outhinking everybody. He/it wouldn't have anything to do with controlling machines; in fact, I'd have Computo disdain other machines. Maybe he wants to be human, maybe he's afraid they'll expose him, maybe he wants to be the only machine in town.

I was thinking about the "wanting to be human" thing. In a way, it's a plot that's been done to death, but I can't think of a villainous robot that has that as their motivation.

I think it would be cool to play up the idea that he's built for the benefit of mankind. So whatever his actual plans/goals are, they should be a misguided attempt to improve everyone's lives.

What if Computo were an AI that Brainy (of whatever version) gave the task of a computation or search the answer/solution of which changed Computo?

Perhaps he behaves chaotically, causing all sorts of damage and upheaval, but really *does* have an end intent that is not only worthwhile, but necessary.

Oh- and Brainy'd know it and have to act like he didn't for some convoluted reason or another.

I had an idea once where Brainy had a pupil? A genius kid who worshipped Brainy. He gets badly hurt in a Legion battle and becomes a cyborg. He calls himself Computo mostly out of spite. Thing is he might be smarter than Brainy.

I always thought it was a good way to replace both Tharok and Computo.

That one could be the younger Coluan that was a Wanderer in the most recent issues. Or was he a Terror Firma member? All that namelessess makes things so vague in this boot...

How 'bout this for a Computo story:

Computo somehow winds up on a primitive Stone Age style planet. He becomes worshipped as a God by the natives, and provides them with space age technology, which they use to reak havoc on the U.P.

That would be a great 'Large Antagonist #1 / Large Antagonist #2' plot, where the Legion first must deal with a very large problem, and only to discover there is an even larger one to deal with soon after--which is usually the kind of story that works well with a large team (and provides a built-in sense of mystery and suspense).

I think there is actually quite a bit of room for Computo to grow as a character. He's only really had a handful of stories. If the Reboot had continued on, I would fully expect someday for Gear to be overtaken, and possibly for Computo to have infected his mind for months before its realized, destroying the Legion from within.

But I really like the idea of him becoming a God. It opens up the obvious 'mankind becoming to reliant on technology' theme without kicking it down our throats.

Hmm... Computo creating sexbots to seduce the male Legionnaires was just the kind of innovating thinking I was hoping for when I started this thread!

Well I think they should explain why robots/androids are not used in the future. I think Waid was going to do that.

Personally I think Computo is just too vague. That is why I like combining him with a human.

Mystery Lad, the young Coluan on the Wanderers would've been perfect. Imagine this kid now with the power of Computo as a cyborg? It automatically gives "computo" a personality.

Something else else with villains in general...you need to make them less generic. I love the Dark Circle but to make a villain effective you need to roll everything into one character and give the "organization" a face.

I think Computo needs a face.

Computo had a face in Adv. # 340-341: ugly, mismatching and somewhat comical -- but that only belied how menacing he was.

I always thought that it would be revealed that Lu's third body hadn't really died, but was indeed *absorbed* by Computo. At least her consciousness, anyway. At some point it was explained that Cargittes normally don't survive the death of one of their bodies. The other bodies experience a sympathetic death. Much like siamese twins. I believe Lu's character kept expresing she didn't know why she was alive, because any other cargitte wouldn't have survived the death of one of their *selves.* So I always imageined that Computo would somehow be deconstructed and some sort of energy being would be left behind and would merge with Lu's physical bodies and they would somehow be transformed into a new *nebulous* kind of entity.

(Sigh!) But the character(s) were taken in different directions...

jesjos, I kind of like that idea. It ties Computo to others besides just Brainy. Maybe not that he absorbed her but that he shows some guilt? Some connection to Lu would be cool.

I actually think that Computo reappearing in the form of the animated corpse of Lu's third body would have been hella-nightmarish, and pretty far-out. It would have been grueling, but really cool.

Perhaps stored away for years and years, as a last resort, so Computo could survive? If Zero Hour never happened, this story could have been done after LoTR. It could explain how Computo lived post-BION also.

lol, I guess you don't like BION? tongue

Which reminds me. The next Computo story should have androids! These beings inflitrate the UP and maybe even the LEGION?!
