Well. I think "the DC Boards will still suck" may have been an understatement on my part. I believe the DC Boards have now raised "suck" to an artform.

Looks to me like some TW/AOL executive let one of his kids make their new bulletin board software in "Introduction to Programming" class.

I'll always treasure the DC boards forever for...

They could have at least worked with their icons a little bit to make them transparent. I think Lou said it best. Some exec let his kid design it.

Are you no longer allowed to view topics from first post to last? I had it set up that way before, and now it's changed back to last post first, and I can't find an option to change it back.

And what the hell are "reward points"?!?

Sort of what we call "frequent poster points" on LW (formerly known simply as one's "post count").

Rack up enough FPPs and you could earn valuable prizes, like an autographed photo of your favorite alt ID!

I started my first thread on the DC boards in over a year to try to drum up some support for the book...

What kind of update is this? It really does hurt my eyes. The color choices are terrible. Black on medium blue for a post? Gaaah.

Well I was going to show my support for Stu's thread but everytime I try to post I get taken to the log in page. I log in, it shows I'm logged in, then I hit reply to thread and get taken to the log in page again.

So much for trying to participate in the 'offical' boards. I'll not waste anymore of my time there.

I could live with the look of it (although it is pretty amateurish looking IMO), but the fact that the posts are all out of order really freaks me out. It's bad enough that you apparently can't sort by oldest post first, but the posts aren't in any particular order within the threads!!! It's impossible to follow the discussion since they're only vaguely grouped by date or some such and not in the order they appear to have been posted. Add to that the fact that many of the pages have blank posts, some even in the first post on the thread, and how are you ever supposed to follow a thread?

If they were going to introduce a whole new type of software for the board why would they not just wipe all the posts and start over? Trying to translate them from one version to another obviously hasn't worked out so well.

You won't believe how long it took me to realize that.

(In my defense... honestly, how often do you see something so dysfunctional on a message board? And the timestamps of the posts are all messed up as well...)

Honestly, they probably couldn't have come up with a less user-friendly message board if they'd tried.

I realized it on one thread where a poster mentioned the Super Pets, then posted again explaining how Proty II didn't count as a Pet anymore since he was revealed to be sentient. Then two posts above that reply (which should mean two posts newer than the Proty II reply as the boards are set up) another poster replied with something along the lines of "What about Proty II, wasn't he a Super Pet?".

I was all like and stuff.

Then I noticed the same type of stuff on other threads. I think something just got fragged in the translation to the new software. At least I hope that's the case, and that this new software isn't really so bad that it can't even keep the posts in order.

You too? I tried to post to inform them that the newest boards were teh suxor, but couldn't get on. Even if I could, I'd have to stand on my head to read that upside-down board!

OK first impression is I'm not (impressed that is)

I logged on no problem, the colour scheme is not the best but is livable but why oh why oh why are we forced to read things backwards?

I've tried a couple of times over the weekend. And 3 quarters of the time I wasn't able to! I logged in, then got error messages so I couldn't go back to the board. I can onlyview it as a guest at the moment.

But having to read the whole thing backwards is very frustrating!

I'm not usually one for conspiracy theories (ha!) but there was a thread complaining about the back-to-front postings on the "Other DC topics" board but it got deleted! Don't they want to hear what we've got to say? First they binn off the letters and now the baords too? Sheesh!

While it's handy to have Legion World to post on it's a shame the boards are so messed up. I really enjoy reading the Wonder Woman board.

Never been on it, don't want to try.
