Technically, it's NOT "bad", per se. It's just so gosh-darn forgettable and by-the-numbers (like so much of the New 52 for me, come to think of it) that I just don't FEEL anything when I read it or after I put it down. To me, that's what makes it as bad or worse than any other era of the LSH.
I just read number 14 last night. I was basically a yawner in which Chemical Kid steps up and saves himself and Jan and takes down the rogue Braalians. I didn't feel anything! I wasn't scared for Jan and CK. I didn't loathe the bad guys. There was just nothing engrossing about the story. Just another "new kid proves himself" story. *yawn*
Still "Lardy" to my friends!

That final line of the last issue seems prophetic: "It gets worse".

I thought 17 was a step in the right direction - a big epic story with shocking plot twists. If the rumours are true of a slimmed down membership are right it is getting bad, sadly.
"It gets worse" indeed!

Ever since the re-appearance of the "semi-classic" Legion, the "Lightning Saga" the runup to "Legion of Three Worlds up until the present I have been becoming increasingly just plain bored with the Legion.
At least #17 was interesting. It got people talking. But...
artist leaving after two issues... apparent editorial sabotage... membership being literally decimated...
my hopes are fading.

*If*...the membership gets decimated...
*AND*...Giffen walks away, never getting a chance to follow up on any of it, or make up for any dead members.
Then yeah. That's as bad as its ever been for the Legion, compiled with all the other crap we've been through in the last few years. That's like being in a BDSM orgy except you never get to climax.

There are different kinds of bad.
The most common in modern comics is when a writer decides to do things either for shock value, or for their own purposes knowing full well that the main effect on the audience will be shock value. Some comics are notorious for this. So far we've had Shady with Earth-Man, and the death of Dirk (and I doubt that Dirk is really dead. It's not as if you can tell that someone is eating your friend by the smell of their soup, and furthermore, Dirk died with his head damaged, which screams out "it's a setup so that the Legionnaires don't really know who the body is".)
Compared to some comics, Legion has gotten off pretty lightly. It's still bad in the sense of not bring exciting, but that should be easier to recover from. I would think the big danger is that low sales from this type of bad cause the Legion to get assigned to someone who's capable of the other type of bad. The last thing we need is for someone to decide that Light Lass has been taking sex-change drugs.

Shades of Sean Erin! That's like being in a BDSM orgy except you never get to climax. That is one heck of a simile All this discussion got me thinking. What is the true essence of the Legion? What elements should remain so that the Legion can really be considered a Legion? Oooh I think this should be a new thread!

Working on the Harmonia Li bio, I reread Volume 6 and really enjoyed it a lot more. Many little details and subplots in individual issues flow better when the issues are read in quick succession.
