...officially became LAD Boy as my department was renamed Legislative Affairs Department -- much better than our former name, LaRD: Legislative and Regulatory Department, and the runner runner-up for the new name CAD: Congressional Affairs Department.

... am reflecting on - from a hereditary standpoint - how lucky I am to have dodged the "bad back" gene.
I am the only member of my genetic nuclear family (my mother, father, sister, and brother) who has not had to undergo spinal surgery at some point.
I was talking to my younger brother last night who is recovering from his third back surgery. He's had three discs removed and a metal "fusion cage" placed in there to take their place. He's only 35! That's freaking insane.
I have no idea why I'm the only one this has skipped... (though I do have a pet theory that the fact that I used to parachute may have subtly elongated my spine and prevented the compression they all get)... but trust me, I am freaking thankful.

Took my wife to the Clinic, and then ER. She is still there, seeing a GI specialist in the a.m.
Looks like my three day weekend is going to turn into a four day weekend.

Brought wife home after some tests. Stomach issues diagnosed. Still no idea what caused pain that we took her there for though.

Pitched a fit at the "Shutdown Manager" right before I left for work this morning...and all my co-workers witnessed it.
20 minute yelling match and I was totally justified and in the right and everyone got to see for real just what a oily, lying snake in the grass the guy is.
and for perspective, current chain of command is as follows -
Me - my supervisor - shutdown coordinator - shutdown manager
