might reasonably be expected to take.

Sure it says 40 hours... but I'm pretty sure that doesn't account for martini stops.

Crikey! that's cray cray!!

And I know from experience that from vancouver to point A is about 20 hours, not counting martini stops (plus photo stops, awesome scenery there)

Stayed open minded enough to grant "lovely" but I've read Pov's posts. He's NO lady! grin

...am pondering who those ladies might be since they (females, that is) are in short supply 'round these parts! (Okay, I think I know, upon further thought!)

Watched the evening bird show.

Around 5, the sparrowy looking things show up. They've more color than sparrows so I don't know what they are. There's some let you get pretty close. None jumped on my finger yet but there's one gives it a good thought. It will get within a foot. He likes to hang out in the holes of the chain link fence. Never the top. A lot of the birds like to fly full throttle through the fence. I think birds play games.

Then the woodpecker family shows briefly. Very pretty. The robins but there's the really tiny yellow birds like to chase them. About 5:30 to six though, it's the robin show. Then the cardinal family shows up briefly. No bluejays this year and very few crows. This one robin usually comes back, and makes a racket from the highest perches until just before sunset.

Then the grand finale. Like clockwork, the lightning bugs then at 9:15 give or take, the owls. These owls are like the honey badger. They don't give a shit. You can walk right up to them. Tonight, one was hanging out on the mailbox and I was on the stoop, 2 feet away. Sometimes all three stand on the top bar of the driveway fence, swaying back and forth. They particularly seem to like the little girl from next door.

In the morning, show starts again. The owls are not so regular but sometimes they hangout on top the garage, all three of them. I can see them from the bedroom window. The sunrise is almost always colorful, lights up the dining room red. When lights come up, robins again. The cardinals next, usually just the male making a racket. He flies and lands the same pattern everyday. Then the doves, early to late morning. I like the doves but they're skittish. Mostly I can watch them running around on the roof of the garage, snagging mulberries that have fallen. The bunnies and groundhogs show up about then too. Spring baby's are dumb enough to let you get close but by now, everyone knows to hightail it. Could be the pot I always carry when I see them.

Afternoons are more unpredictable or most likely I haven't figured the pattern. Some delicate looking finchy things and the robins like to hang around the base of the garage. Sometimes the cardinals and jays. In early Spring, the eagle from across the way was seen a lot. Flew not 20 feet from me. Well, 40 feet. My driveway floods when rain is heavy and this Spring I came home, couldn't get into my drive because a Mallard family saw an opportunity to take a swim. I stayed in my car, waited for them to waddle off. On another day, it was a humongous turtle. Had to tell the neighborhood kids it wasn't a drum. Once and only once, three Winters ago, looked out the front window and saw a coyote. Too big to be a fox and never heard of wolves around here. It was a "did I really see that" moment. GORGEOUS animal. Did a quick internet search then went out and checked the tracks. Sure enough. The neighbors say for awhile, there was a raccoon would hang out with the neighborhood one-eyed cat that lived on our porches, depending upon who was feeding. Cat died in March so no more raccoon sitings. A possumey looking thing shows up on occasion. There's an iridescent black/purple tiny bird I see from time to time. Usually after rains. No Idea what that is. Rarely, maybe twice in over ten years I've seen hummingbirds. Wish more of those would be around. Seen a couple redtailed hawks, one landed on the sidewalk while I was on the porch. Stomping on a little bird it had grabbed right out of the air. So far, the canadian geese seem content to just fly over, which is fine by me and none of the hunter birds seem inclined to eat me but there is one bird that likes to poop bomb the house. It's gotta be that crow. How else do you get purple poop on the side of the house? Rocks, will hit the house siding right outside my window, make me jump a mile out of the lazyboy. Someday, I'm going to get that one into the pot.
