No to either of those. They were building something in honour of Stik.

Not a well, it was built up from the ground.

No, I don;t think it would have had much of a practical use.

I know Brom Stikk was Mister Twister. So... a giant statue of a twister?

I saw Blacula's answer first and thought "that's pretty close" but Ibby has it. I wasn;t far away from pointing out that Brom Stik wasn;t his only name as a clu. But well done for getting it before then.

The town, which you either read or won't know was Hatton Corners.

Over to you Ibby.

I didn't know it was Hatton Corners, nope.

a statue of a giant twister. The things these villains think of.

In the War Games "unpublished" story, the Titans' loved ones became targets. One unfortunate loved one became a casualty. Who was this?

Spoiler! wink

I haven't read it yet but I've heard it was Sarah Simms.

Now I'm put in a tough position of having to spoil you in case you got your guess right tongue Do you want me to do that, Blacula? tongue

In any case...

You were indeed right. It was later revealed that the mastermind had intended for poor Sarah to survive the bomb he'd planted. His lackey detonated the bomb early to stick to a timetable; he killed his lackey for that.

Haha I haven't clicked on your spoiler yet but I just wanted to clarify -

You mentioned "unpublished", but War Games was eventually published - I bought it (though haven't read it yet).

I had always heard that part of the reason it took so long to get off the ground was the continuity snafu with Sarah Simms - she had been killed off in that unpublished work but had shown up alive elsewhere (during Devin Grayson's run maybe?).

Was someone different killed off in the final published version? If so, don't tell me who. I wanna be surprised when I finally read it. If it was Sarah, no problem. That won't be a surprise.

Yeah, "unpublished" was a bad choice of word. I think I should have used "published late". I have a copy too tongue

In my copy, it was indeed poor Sarah. I liked Sarah a lot and can understand why she was picked - she was very likable. She went out as a hero though, it was hardly a meaningless death.

(I would have put the above in spoiler tags, but realized that if you had asked a question, anyone reading this thread would know that you had gotten it right!)

Here's what I got from Titans Tower. She reappeared in DC Special: Cyborg #6, 2008.

Dead Wrong: Sarah Simms was supposed to die in the long-delayed New Titans graphic novel, “Games,” originally set to be published in 1990. The book was put on hold several times, which is why Sarah Simms didn’t appear much after New Teen Titans (second series) #42 in 1988. Eventually, Sarah reappeared in DC Special: Cyborg #6 in 2008, in which Cyborg attends the wedding of Sarah Charles and DeShaun with Sarah Simms as his date. The New Teen Titans: Games graphic novel eventually saw print in 2011 with Sarah’s death intact…. but with other inherent continuity changes in the interim, the story is considered an “out of continuity” tale.

I was going to go for Jericho or Danny Chase for much the same reason. Poor Sarah. She was a good character but not the first to be underutilised due to shuffling out with a book.

Having her as a close platonic friend to Cyborg was refreshing, IMO. Not all male-female friendships need to be romantic. Of course, the romantic aspect never really went away, but... it was nice while it lasted.

As for Jericho, War Games went overboard with trying to prove his heterosexual manliness. There's a scene where he contacts maybe 7 girls to warn them they might be targets. SEVEN. And all of them had framed pictures of themselves with him. What the heck? I have no problem with Jericho being popular with the women; I have no problem with him dating women; I do have a problem with him dating around so casually with so many women at the same time. He was one step away from being a womanizer, which is not in line with the gentle, sensitive and emotionally adept guy I had thought he was. Leave the womanizing to Roy Harper (one of my least favorite Titans, sorry Roy fans!)

I can;t recall the tone used for Joey in Games. But in the regular series there was a scene where he was checking his messages and there were a number of ladies looking to contact him. While a lot were through his work, it was pretty clear that some of the callers may have been looking for more than this.

Joey was attractive to them because he's almost the opposite of Roy - Hey Marv, get those relationship triangles out!- as a close friend, as someone to help their work, as friends with benefits perhaps.

Just typing that reminds me of the Joey/Kole scene. I think his reactions to Kole's advances make him a better man considering his relationships with other women. He's genuinely kind and caring, and may have felt that Kole needed time to become less emotionally vulnerable. It's realistic that Joey's feelings/wisdom there would come out of the various relationships (at varying) levels with those other women.

Yes, I agree that Joey's personality made him very attractive to women. I welcome that. I'm ok with him pursuing those friendships into something sexual, even. What I wouldn't want to see is any hints of Joey leading these women on, and I certainly don't want him to become a Roy-type who can't keep it in his pants. If the writers had very firmly clarified that, I would have been very happy with that scene.

Your mention of the Joey/Kole scene hits it right on the head. That's the Joey I want to see - a good friend to women, who knows what they need and would not take advantage of them.

Everyone remembers the sad fate of Pantha, Baby Wildebeest and Bushido in Infinite Crisis, but did you know that 3 different Titans were originally supposed to die in their place until Geoff Johns re-wrote his script?

Who were those 3 lucky Titans?

*gasp*! I wonder if the answers will make me sad or happy.

Hmm... I'm pretty sure Dick Grayson was one of them.

As for the other two...

Donna Troy?
Terra II?

Dan Didio was indeed pushing to have Dick Grayson killed off in IC, but that was in a totally different scene and not an outcome Geoff Johns ever agreed with or actually wrote.

One of your other guesses is correct however.

Terra II? (given that she died shortly after)

Hmm... I wouldn't be surprised if the others were relatively obscure...

Was Red Star supposed to die to complete the family?

How about Rose Wilson?

^ I should probably be more specific - there was talk of Nightwing dying at the conclusion of the series, and Dan Didio was pushing for it, but Geoff Johns and others talked him down and Superboy died in his place.

However, in the scene where Superboy Prime killed Pantha, Baby Wildebeest and Bushido, 3 other Titans had originally been proposed to die in their places. I'm looking for those 3 Titans.

One has been correctly guessed so far.

Whoops. This came in while I was writing the other message.

2 of the lucky Titans have been correctly guessed now.

Yeah, I figured from your comment on Nightwing and Didio that you were probably thinking of 3 Titans who should have died in that scene instead of the 3 who actually died.

Hmmm...

Terra II
Hero Cruz

Not sure if you noticed my last post but 2 correct characters have so far been guessed, though only one in your last post.
