1. Teen Titans – while the Perez cover is a classic, it’s also a structure that’s been done a hundred times. The Cardy cover just pops for me.
2. Nickel Comics – for the antiquity aesthetic
3. Bride’s Secrets – perhaps this says a lot about where I am with comics these days but I definitely would rather know more about the Bride’s thoughts.
4. Archie’s Gals ‘N’ Pals – for devil bodysuit Betty and Veronica! love
5. SHAZAM! – the layout is just much more interesting: Mary & Billy holding up the globes, the globes getting smaller as they go down the page. Great stuff!
6. Web of Spider-Man – when Web of Spider-Man came out, the best thing about it was the Charles Vess covers with the black costume which are pretty much perfect.
7. Love Experiences - perhaps because the guy looks more like me? And like me, he likes necking in public?
8. Little Max – the pie gag in Henry is an oldy but a goody, but I like the dog in Little Max

9. Curly Joe – both covers are kind of charming, but I like the adventure tone of fighting an Arabic Prince rather than the silly tone of tiny Cupid knocking out Lash’s boyfriend, Joe Palooka
10. LSH 31st Century – the love shown Chuck, Luornu and others in LSH 31st endears the series to me in a major way.
11. Suicide Squad – really beautiful Francavilla cover, but the SS cover evokes childhood memories of discovering this series and having my mind blown.
12. ‘Mazing Man – really dynamic cover! For a humor series, this cover is striking!
13. All-Star Comics – really terrific atmosphere and tone with the JSAers all covered in shadow and the Spectre’s hands positioned where they are. The Leading Comics cover is good, but it could have been a lot better—probably not even that great if you strip away the novelty of a 7 Soldiers Cover.
14. Wow Comics – heroes marching off to war and being damn serious about it. And Patriotic. I like it.
15. Moon Girl Fights Crime! – EC’s covers were always a grade above and that even extends to Moon Girl in the pre-horror era. Meanwhile the Military Comics cover has far too much copy.
16. Green Lantern – I like Doiby better than the never-ending recursive cover shtick.

17. Hawkeye – just brilliant all around.
18. Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD – what tips it towards SHIELD is the line work on Fury, and the psychedelic shape to the mountains on the beach.
19. Jimmy Wakely – really dynamic use of shadow and color that makes me want to read this story.
20. Weird Science – perhaps the hardest one yet. The Weird Fantasy cover may be a little better but when I was a little kid I would just stare at the Weird Science cover over and over and look at that weird alien. It didn’t scare me at all, oddly enough, and I would ask my Dad if the artist intended for the top, larger tentacles to be a different part of the anatomy than the smaller ones.
21. Our Love Story – sure, I love Kirby’s original X-Men run, but I also like the sexy, swinging late 60’s!
22. Justice League of America – classic cover and it was still a novelty for Green Arrow to be on the cover.
23. Adventure into Mystery – I swear that every so often when I’m waiting for my train I wonder if someone will ever push me or someone else. It seems like a natural way for someone to commit murder. And it makes me uneasy.
24. Speed Comics – for the great depiction of a horse, something so many artists wish they could do now.

21. X-Men - can't beat classic Kirby
22. The Atom - the colors seem to pop out more here than in the JL cover
23. Adventure into Mystery - the use of the word bubble is shocking and makes you want to find out if the man gets out of his predicament
24. Flash Comics - the use of contrasting perspective between the man and Jay Garrick is well done (i.e horizontal vs diagonal)

Keep up with what I've been watching lately!

21. X-MEN -- What Howie Mandel wouldn't give for Unus's power! Our Love Story just doesn't do much for me.
22. JLA -- The Atom cover is basically a death trap scenario, while the JLA cover gives you a more interesting storyline.
23. ADVENTURE INTO MYSTERY -- I love this cover? Is Mister Mason's Strange Problem that no one can see him?
24. FLASH -- As much as I love Shock Gibson, and actually think it's probably better drawn, I'm finding the Flash presents a more interesting scenario. Will he be able to save the guy strapped to chair before the flames get to him? What's the deal with the weird monkey/cat heads on the chair?

Just realized I never did 5-8...

5. SHAZAM! - slight closeup makes it better

6. WEB OF SPIDER-MAN - just like the pose better

7. LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT - reminds me of that time I kissed Blaze, tee hee

8. HENRY - is less annoying

21. OUR LOVE STORY - like the background more

22. JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA - more heroes!

23. RACKET SQUAD IN ACTION - more dynamic!

24. . SPEED COMICS - more dynamic and Flash's silly hat makes him look like his hair is about to fly away

25. ANGEL LOVE - i don't know, something about a giant flaming carrot is scary. "Flaming Carrot: hey, let me toss your salad@" um,no.

26. SCOOP COMICS - the "I just woke up from a very bad hangover" look is intriguing

27. SCRIBBLY - like the brighter colors

28. KEEN DETECTIVE FUNNIES - love the pose

Oh, I'm super-behind. (Super-Behind being Bat-Asses crime-fighting cohort from Uranus.)

25. ANGEL LOVE, who is totes about to get a pink milkshake on her head.

26. SCOOP COMICS, if only for that amazing face.

27. MISS BEVERLY HILLS OF HOLLYWOOD looks like more fun than 'Scribbly,' whoever the heck she is.

28. AMAZING MYSTERY FUNNIES, because I can't wait to meet the rest of 'Speed Centaurs' crime-fighting team, Meth Minotaur, Heroin Harpy, Crack Chimera and Spliff the Magic Dragon.

25. Angel Love - even though the other cover has a guy with a carrot head, it's not very dynamic and has nothing to suck in the reader
26. Dynamic Comics - that melting face is super creepy!
27. Scribbly - gives the reader a better indication of what the story of the issue is
28. Detective Funnies - that's an odd angle to fall at

21. OUR LOVE STORY-- I *need* to know why she's so awful no boy will marry her!! That boring old white Eunice cover can frag off back to MAMA'S FAMILY. Too many white background X-MEN Kirby covers back then! Not EVERYthing he did was tits and sacstacular.

22. GOOD LORD. Slave-auctioned JLA vs Atom in a lightbulb. I already know the Atom can escape a lightulb, I wanna know why the JLA is being sold! JLA FTW.

23. I'll tell you Mr. Mason's problem, he's a big wuss. Quit crying like a little bitch and sock someone already. I'll take the rape-whistlery of THE RACKET SQUAD!

24. I kinda like both, but It'll be a cold day in hell before I gave Shock Gibson-- if that IS his real name-- the win over THE FLASH. Yes I know, white background, blah blah blah! I have cancer, you jerk!!!!

5. SHAZAM!: His costume just pops so much more and I LOVE those old 100-page comics.
6. WEB OF SPIDER-MAN: The colours are better as is the costume.
7. LOVE EXPERIENCES: Feels much more like we're really catching a couple in the middle of something, rather than just the loving look of the other cover.
8. LITTLE MAX COMICS: Henry looks like he's been cloned from something in Area 54 and the little story along the border of Max's comic is so much cuter.

9. CURLY KAYOE: But it was a close call. They're both fun.
10. LoSH31C: Cuter all round. Love the different coloured love hearts.
11. THE SHADOW: That's always been one of my least favourite Suicide Squad covers.
12. 'MAZING MAN: I don't find the Simpsons animation style too appealing in comics.

13. ALL-STAR COMICS: Close call but I like the darker shadows more and Johnny's worried expression adds an element of drama.
14. UNCLE SAM: Another close one but the Uncle Sam one is just too jolly and seems weirdly inappropriate.
15. MILITARY COMICS: Gosh this is a tough round. I quite like them all. I'll go with this one because it seems to promise more story and the heavy blacks and whites is an unusual choice.
16. BATMAN: More creative (though it could have been done a lot better).

17. HAWKEYE: Love it!
18. SPACE ADVENTURES: Space genie for the win!
19. ALAN LADD: That is one cool looking customer!
20. WEIRD FANTASY: They're both freaky but this one seems to offer more horror. What are they going to do with the people in those tubes?!?

21. OUR LOVE STORY: Don't like either of them but this one offers a bit more to look at and think about.
22. THE ATOM: Very close call. Really like both of them but this one just pops a little more. Good use of colours.
23. ADVENTURE INTO MYSTERY: Better art. Better colours. Better sense of danger.
24. FLASH COMICS: As much as I want to love the Speed Comics one, I have to stare at it for a while to work out what's going on, which seems to run against the whole premise of the title. The drama in the Flash one is much more instant and recognisable.

25. ANGEL LOVE: Cuter artwork.
26. SCOOP COMICS: What freaky covers. I'm not sure. This one just seemed slightly more dramatic.
27. SCRIBBLY: I like the girl's reaction in this one more.
28. AMAZING MYSTERY FUNNIES: Because that is the lamest looking centaur I've ever seen. haha

25. ANGEL LOVE. Sometimes you need more than a carrot that is aflame.

26. SCOOP COMICS. For some reason I LIKE the fact that I can't tell if the menacing figure is behind her or is in front and being reflected in a mirror that is behind her.

27. MISS BEVERLY HILLS. OK, maybe I like Scribbly's coloring more, but Bev's enthusiam is super cute, so there!

28. KEEN DETECTIVE FUNNIES. Oh, the Golden Age.

25. ANGEL LOVE is total love!
26. DYNAMIC COMICS -- melty face guy for the win, though I have a bit of a crush on the girl on the other cover!
27. MISS BEVERLY HILLS -- Though I have no doubt that Scribbly is actually the better comic, being, you know, Scribbly, putting Donna Reed on a cover is a sure way to get my vote!
28. KEEN DETECTIVE FUNNIES -- Not a huge fan of either, but liked the details of the cracks it the walls on this one. Speed Centaur is a cool concept for a comic character, but the cover just isn't doing anything for me.

29. THE HUMAN TORCH -- a classic cover! Meanwhile, I'm not sure what's going on on Star-Spangled. The Newsboy Legion have formed a bridge between the buildings, but the Guardian is just leaping from one building to the next? Huh?
30. AMAZING SPIDER-MAN -- I want to read the tribute to teenagers!
31. TV TEENS (MOPSY) -- Stupid guys gawking on the other cover! I want to be the only one gawking at the cute girls in swimsuits!
32. AMETHYST? -- I dunno. Not much to choose from here, imo.

29. HUMAN TORCH. It's the Sub-Mariner, and he has a gun! I have no idea what the Newsboy Legion Human Centipede thing going on with that over cover is... Ick!

30. SPIDER-WOMAN. It's got Ripley and her cargo loader!

31. FRECKLES. Although either cover would be spiced up considerably by the addition of a shark fin.

32. AMETHYST. The cover is just way more colorful, even if the subject matter of the other cover is more intriguing.

25. FLAMING CARROT. Angel Love is requiring far too much knowledge of the series. Needs more cocaine or something.

26. I like both, but I'm giving it to the floating heads of DYNAMIC.

27. Again I like both. MISS BEVERLY HILLS because I love the filmstrip scroll.

28. Both are bad but I'll give it to Speed Centaur! (AMAZINGM MYSTERY FUNNIES)

29. HUMAN TORCH fills the space more satisfyingly to me, but I like both.

30. SPIDER-MAN!

31. Ain't nobody got time to be reading cover dialogue. FRECKLES AHF FTW.

32. AMETHYST, but that Challs mini is really terrific.

29. HUMAN TORCH - yeah, punch Namor all the way to the moon!

30. SPIDER-WOMAN

31. FRECKLES AND HIS FRIENDS - they look like they're having more fun

32. AMETHYST - pretty colors....
