41. THE SPECTRE is an all-time classic like X-MEN 50. 42. PROMETHEA looks less like someone just glued random stupid images to paper and called it by slapping a Vertigo label on it. 43. LOVE LIFE, 'cause she's about to kiss him! 44. THE COMICS works slightly better for me because the arrow is seen. 45. Two great series. THE THING cover took more effort so it. 46. LSH TMK 47. BLACK CAT, she's the darling of comics! 48. ALL HUMOR. Cookie is a little twerp bastard.

49. SECRET WARS, though why they didn't go with "Along came a costume" I'll never know. 50. Er... X-FORCE? 51. REAL FACT COMICS for the real facts about the Tommy Tomorrow forecast! 52. SAGA rules all.

41. Flash. [Self Censors Cover Commentary] Oh, and the Spectre doesn't have eyes to stare into, daringly or otherwise, silly cover blurb.
42. Promethea. There was a time when Vertigo covers became too abstract, and didn't really give you a feel for the contents. This is actually quite decent, but it's not creative outpouring as seen in Promethea.
43. My Love Life. Green polka dots and a pointy finger? Has Teeds been at the Time Bubble again? It gets the win over the hen pecked guy on the other one, even though it's not a real cover from the time. Well, it is.. but only because Teeds...head hurts...Teeds!
44. Funnies. I'm intrigued as to why the kid has stubble, not to mention an odd speech pattern. Bonus points for the adult humour in the dialogue box.
45. Tomorrow Stories. Sure, the Thing took longer to draw. But they're all cheaters in it. Besides, the cover makes the star look too much like a big shot. By contrast the First American didn't get that hand because of cheating. It's just a reflection of his life >sob< putting it into angsty cover territory, which is a winner.
46. Legion TMK. Tough to focus on the cover and not the contents. Dull Controller story compared to disappointing fill in issue. Even though they're just standing there, I still like the 5yg one more. The transition across eras is done simply. I do remember wondering why Furball was on the cover, as the penny hadn't dropped.
47. Great Action. Not because of the art, but because it's not trying too hard like the other one, and some story on the cover is a little unusual. Had the framing been removed from Black Cat, that would have probably won.
48. Cooky. Because who hasn't been there? I remember my first green bow tie...
49. I Am Curious[Secret Wars]. Poor Spidey. Reduced to a cover song and dance routine to get some sales for the series. The tag line gets points for being so atrocious. Overall better than the Twins cover.
50. WildCats. Not great but an unusual perspective. Speaking of unusual perspectives, here's a Liefeld cover...
51. Real Fact. We all went to the moon on giant spacecraft and left you behind with this fake thread. And that's not only a fact, it's a real fact!
52. Saga. Ozma has a fairy tale quality, but it's no match for the technically superior Saga.

49. SECRET WARS. Classic cover. 50. WILDCATS. Gratuitous as it may be, it's more dynamic a concept. 51. PICTURE NEWS. My inner publishing junkie loves that art from the 40s can capture what was typically a "photo cover" magazine cover. 52. SAGA. Oz is very pretty to look at, but Saga makes me want to open the issue.

It's a real fact, it just won't take place until the far off future of the 1980s!

49. WOLVERINE. I don't think those tuxes spawned a string of supervillains with mouth problems.
50. WILDCATS. Well, that IS a sensible sunbathing outfit.
51. PICTURE NEWS. The water!
52. SAGA. She gots a book! And we know it's not Howard Stern's autobiography (or Playgirl).

41. THE SPECTRE - better angle
42. PROMETHEA - bit easier to understand what's going on
43. MY LOVE LIFE - wagging finder for the win
44. THE FUNNIES - kid looks less annoying
45. TOMORROW STORIES - too many people on the other cover
46. LSH (BAXTER) - love the action poses
47. BLACK CAT - not the most practical costume but she wears it so well
48. COOKIE - heh! funny
49. . WOLVERINE - heh! also funny
50. WILDCATS - at least this one only has the unnatural physique, and not also the overabundance of big guns and pockets
51. REAL FACT COMICS - seems more.. educational
52. OZMA OF OZ - cute!

49. Wolverine - as iconic as the Secret Wars cover is, it's just kind of dull. the other cover, on the other hand, has the Hulk in a white tuxedo! 50. X-Force - I almost feel dirty voting for a Liefeld cover, but it's way more interesting than the other one, mainly due toe posing of the characters 51. Real Fact Comics - awesome spaceships! 52. Saga - both are pretty dull, but this is the lesser of two evils
Keep up with what I've been watching lately! "Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio? Our nation turns its lonely eyes to you."

First in!
Love and Marriage, Love and Marriage, 68 pages so don't dis-par-age. THIS I tell you bruuuu-ther. It's a dealy like no Uh-ther.
Bizarro: it's so 4th worldy and this was a tough pick because it's berry season in Michigan and I've been craving.
Little Scrowlie: it pretty and make me giggle.
Blue Estate because it gives me the excuse to say "BOOBIES."

53. BRIDES IN LOVE -- Like the two newlyweds sharing a map more than the cliched carrying over the threshold scene, especially since I'm not really trusting that guy on the other cover not to drop his bride. 54. SILVER AGE -- The other is trying too hard to be clever. Like the genuineness of the SA cover. 55. REPLACEMENT GOD -- mostly because I'm not sure what's going on with the other cover. Why is the giant psychedelic spider holding a skull for the cat to sniff? Quasars? 56. Ooh... love both of these! Gotta give it to ELEKTRA for the whole manservant serving weapons bit, but it could really go either way!

53. BRIDES IN LOVE. The map! The leaves! The ARGYLE SOCKS!
54. SUPERBOY (1990 ED.) I could probably smell a blueberry pie -- am I eligible for the League of Future Kids?
55. LITTLE SCROWLIE. I do like that style. And the other is hard on my eyes.
56. I like both. Quite a bit. But BLUE ESTATE takes it for the moolah topiary, or whatever exactly that is.

53. BRIDES IN LOVE. As mentioned: argyle. 54. SUPERBOY 1990. So fun and I love the art. 55. LITTLE SCROWLIE. More visually appealing and fun all around. 56. ELEKTRA. So much going on in a good way.

53. Brides In Love. Honey? Why do all the roads on this map lead to Divorceville? Is it the socks? An example of a white background done well. The other cover gets some points for the lamp, but loses them all and more for the floral pattern in the logo.
54. Superboy SA. This is the issue where Ma Kent replaces Superboy with Microwave Lad, so she can have useful powers to help with baking Blueberry pies. She was sick of having no privacy with smug Clark around anyway.
55. Little Scrowlie. The ancient spider god shows off it's skull collection. But the cat has killed at least that many just that morning, on it's tour of the garden, and remains unimpressed.
56. Blue Estate. It's a class thing. Elektra just piles up the cash, but it takes breeding to turn the cash into art installations. Oh, and the whole cleavage femme fatale thing draws the eyes to the cover.

57. The art on JSA is better, and the picture more striking. But that pose is going to give Belle a neck injury. Besides, there's no context. That's what the Twelve cover has. Despite the threat the Widow looks nearly as unconcerned as the cat in the Scrowly cover. Mind you, whoever has the gun has stolen her gloves. Maybe she knows them.
58. Namor. I see sawed in this one (until the park cop told me to stop it and let the other kids play) At first I wasn't impressed with the "Khan!" pose. but the Defenders cover is a model sheet. While it's good to see Valkyrie, there's not much happening. So it's back to those lost souls Namor is so upset about for the win. There's a Jan Arrah moment in there.
59. Penalty. Clearly Hutch knows what he's going into. The woman has just told him. His word balloon tells us he knows. The crook on the stairs must have hearing difficulties. Like the crook on the other cover who thinks the sound of a coin is the same as big police boots. Criminals are a bit thick really.
60. Route 666. There's about as many things in the Kents cover. But there, they are almost random. In 666, you see hints of the story.
