Of those we lost last round... Mordru - Big ticket crossover villain, but not the best of stories. Aquarius - Another villain who doesn't understand that you become part of the cosmos when you tap into it. Groovy man. Cheetah - Part of a great JLA/JSA crossover. Merlyn - I liked him more from his Who's Who entry than when I actually got to read him. Darkseid - Tsk. The moment you finish a Darkseid reread, he's gone. It's like he means nothing to you >sob< Hyperclan - It took an issue or two to get used to Porter's art and they seemed to have generic powers. But a good twist. Killer Frost - I like her from early Firestorm as well as for that JLA/JSA crossover. Manga Khan - Fitting that he should go out at the same time as Darkseid, whose power levels he so closely matches. Bwah ha ha ha ! I'm also a fan of there being more adversaries of characters like Wonder Woman and Firestorm (and Aquaman and the Hawks, etc.) on the team, and not just a checklist of Superman and Batman rogues. Atomic Skull had a great visual, and, while powerful, wasn't 'too big for the room,' like some others, who are, IMO, better as solo villains than part of a team (like Darkseid or Mordru or Neron). Kid Amazo always interested me more than adult Amazo. He had so much more character. Oh, those poor Ultimen. Losers gotta lose.

Oh Noes! Not the Ultimen. I didn't care about the Ulitmen but... actually I don't care about this lot either. Were they the ones that became the new Global Guardians? Google tells me I'm thinking of the Ultramarine Corps. Nope, never heard of them. Or Kid Amazo for that matter. Bye Bye!

Or Kid Amazo for that matter. Bye Bye! Oh! I would slap the taste out of your mouth, if you had any! Not really. I don't actually like Kid Amazo that much anyway. Now you come at Queen Bee and IT"S ON!

The Ultimen were an evil parody the the characters added to the Superfriends series. The '90s-00s Animated Universe often created inversions of earlier concepts; Galatea is another example of that.

Surprised to see Morrison's Anti-Matter Crime Syndicate go home. In many respects they were more interesting than the originals, and the introductory GN (Earth-2), is all kinds of cool.

Like I said in the earlier post, if nobody else is interested in running an Idol I want to try a text-based RPG. It would be a sort of make our adventure with Legion of Super-Heroes or Villains depending on the choices the players make. My working title is the Nal Bros RPG (and yes that is a reference to Mario).

I love this forum. I probably will post the RPG thread shortly before we finish the Legion of Doom Idol so I can get a head-count. It is set up for multiple possibilities so in case one plot does not end well we can try another one. Anyways, I will leave this open one more day to allow for IB to vote if he so chooses.

I am going to close the polls now. I will post the results later this evening. Please bear with me as I still feel sick (I feel kind of dizzy). I will start the next round immediately because I will be out of town this weekend and without the Excel spreadsheets used to to run this game. I decided to eliminate everyone under 50% because otherwise we wouldn't be eliminating as many characters as I would like.

Yikes, not a great round for the Morrison era (General, Prometheus & Solaris), or the JLI years (Queen Bee II, the Colonel, and others). Surprised to see an animated character stick around so long, they traditionally don't fare well in these. Of characters that were in the original LoD, only 4 remain: Giganta, Grodd, Luthor & Grundy.

Bloodbath! Lots of big characters gone this round; characters who might have won if this game were being played anywhere else. And I think we possibly lost our first major foe of the classic era in Dr Light. I can't help but wonder how different the results would have been if IB had voted. Eurocrime fans will never forgive you, IB! Dave's mention of the last 4 remaining original LoD members brings up an interesting point that didn't occur to me until Set (I think) made mention of a "team" a few posts ago. I read that post and was like "What team?". And then I remembered that this game was called "Legion of Doom Idol". Although in practice it has played more like "Exhaustive List of Justice League Villains Idol". And for people like me who like to vote for characters to match the theme of the game, that's a pretty major disconnect. Giganta might be one of the most notable members of the LoD for example, but I can't think of one instance where she's fought the actual Justice League. Similarly, Starro might be one of the most iconic JL villains, but I couldn't imagine any story that might believably make him a member of the LoD. I don't think any other Idol games have had this disconnect, in my mind anyway.

>sigh< Anton Allegro who became a lot scarier after I'd read the Lovecraft story. A modern take on the Fiddler. Co Harjavti who would have been more of a parallel into modern politics if it wasn't being played for laughs. Arthur Light, whose promise of great villainy ended up with him being destroyed as a character. The General - An updated Shaggy Man. Hammond, the GL Villain who Professor Stein had to fight! Paragon, the supremacist update on Amazo Degaton, whose back to sweeping that lab floor with dreams of conquest flitting across the shadows of his mind. Snapper, who turned away form his idols in the most treacherous of ways Ultra Humanite, the brains and brawn behind one of the best JLA/JSA crossovers The Wizard, another classic JSA villain making a mark on the JLA and whose crossover would inspire the dreadful Identity Crisis.

I don't think any other Idol games have had this disconnect, in my mind anyway. I think for teams like Justice League and Avengers (and X-Men and Teen Titans to a lesser extent) one's perspective is based on when they started reading. I got a big reading gap between my Dad's 80s comics and Morrison's JLA run. By the mid-2000s when I was caught up on modern comics, there were tons of Crises where every villain seemed to be fighting everyone. I also freely admit the JLA cartoons and DC video games define the JLA to me more than the comics, because that is where I learned about Shadow Thief, Starro, etc. Part of my decision is also based on what is called "Rule of Cool", whereas I think Legion of Doom sounds cooler than JLA Villains. It is the main reason I was throwing votes at Atomic Skull.
