61. S.W.O.R.D. I know the STeranko work on S.H.I.E.L.D. is highly thought of, and there's some nice figure within figures there. But SWORD is deliberately full to the brim, providing a cover that keeps giving detail without getting muddled.
62. Anchor. I'm not sure where Simon Williams fits into either, but there's that Kirbyesque dynamic promising fighting action in Anchor.
63. Sex Criminals. Lovely central..um..strip…with layers of meaning and the eye movement going down from the logo to the figures, even tying into the story title.
64. Bozo. Even a kid who carves an exclamation into his forehead and then presses against your window, isn't as scary as Bozo trying to remember if he has to slaughter your neighbourhood or not.

61. S.W.O.R.D. It doesn't ape its predecessor, it extends it. SHIELD has the psychedelics, but Nick himself looks wrong to me (facial expression, head/neck position relative to body) and it bothers me every time.
62. BITCH PLANET. daaaaaaaaaaaaaang
63. FAKER. But both catch my eye, it could have gone the other way.
64. YIKES! indeed

Big Shot. When people say "thoth, you're a bozo" I think fondly back... Does someone need to read thoth his space-rights or something?

Geez Teeds. You would bring up the time I was busted for impersonating a US mailbox on a comic cover... Why can't people forget?! Why?!

Don't do the international serial mailbox impersonation crime if you ain't got the international serial mailbox impersonation time. Also lay off the murder, it's tacky.

65. Batman & Outsiders - busy as hell, but they both are and Outsiders maxes it out with no speech bubble
66. Crime Clinic - nice! Busting through the newspaper that was just shot through. Burned edges on the paper and secondary stories on newspaper cutouts. I don't know how effective that sort of therapy would be, however. Might work on Apokolips.
67. Tough choice. I like the coloured panels on Harley Quinn and the island trope, but Birds of Prey wins for trying to figure out what's causing that shadow, given the title.
68. Haunted House - Thank you. I've got my Hallowe'en decoration for next year.

65. BatO. A typically detailed Perez cover with a little extra dread as our heroes really struggle against their foes. I didn't have this one for ages, only the Titans part of the story.
66. Crime Clinic - I knew reading my paper on the bench opposite the crime clinic was a mistake. Look what's this guys done to the classified section! Heroes ganging up on people is poor. FF lose points, the bullies.
67. Birds of Prey. Really because of the lighter colour of the sand being a bit more eye catching. The towel looks to be uncomfortable in the footprint. Perhaps the footprint should have gone the other way. Harley got lots of late points when I noticed the sharks, but my mind was made up by then.
68. Haunted House. By a mile for having something creepy enough to give kids nightmares. Well done DC!

65. BATO. ASM is a little rough. (I'm sure it's crying all the way to the bank.)
66. COMET MAN. The color on the other is grim.
67. HQ ETC.
68. HAUNTED HOUSE. Although I was was very tempted to give it to Archie for the atypical (stars, planets) Halloween decor along with the typical (witch hat, broom, jack-o-lantern)

69. Freemind. Two Ughs! Dated reference on one and poor homage with dated texture on the other. Freemind wins because the lemon backdrop is better than the garish other one. 70. Army@Love. Lots more effort put in. 71. Local Heroes. I remember the other one as being eye catching, but there's a skull in a mask on Local Heroes, so... 72. Humbug. I like the trading stamps more than the reproduction notes. Having one stamp cut out revealing the price is a winner. 73. East of West. Aline spaghetti western just nudges ahead. The white of part of the log matching the bottom also gives it more points. 74. Crisis. Lots to like on V. The logo placement, the spaceships, the buring city and the alien hand that knows it's gladiatorial gesture, presumably from a rowboat out in the harbour. But the Crisis cover is a classic, showing off some of the range of DC's multiverse, with a very strong central image of the planets. 75. Marvel Team Up. Iron Man's no fly, but then his armour is not in ye olde TnA pose. And yuck on the whole concept of BW. 76. Go-Go. I get to look at the badges. I'm not sure what's going on in Alex, so I just move on.

69. WYRD. Because I don't like the other one much. I can deal with the ZZ Top, but the main image is very Pretty Woman poster even though it doesn't directly swipe it. Not that into Wyrd, but it doesn't bug me like Freemind. Side note: this is not the last Lockheed ripoff in this fandango.
70. ARMY@LOVE because I like grumpy, disapproving George W.
71. LOCAL HEROES. Creepy!!
72. HUMBUG. Green stamps, man!
73. A horse is a horse of course of course unless it's East of West, because what IS that thing? The infra-purple (or whatever) over on Casanova also interesting too. The CASANOVA coloring wins it, but I'd look at both.
74. CRISIS.
75. MINUTEMEN. Darwyn!!
76. TIPPY'S FRIENDS. I like the shapes/colors over on Alex, but I need more to go on.

77. Ghost Money - The lighting caught my eye and then there's the angle of the cover. Both had an impact before the aliens on the money in the other cover. 78. Out of this World - They've found something very alien down there. Hit does pack quite a punch, but it's too perilous. An killer fish, a watery environment where he'll drown and where he can't use his bees and then we have the weights tied to his feet. I'm amazed he lasted as long to get bumped off in All Star Squadron. 79. Wonder Woman. Tough one. Loads of detail on the Wondy cover, but both look to be in equal amounts of peril. I'd almost give it to Strong because it's long shot gives us a nice background too. But Perez deliberately has a medium shot to show that there's an endless amount of those snake things coming in. That makes it a bigger, more desperate threat. 80. Clan Destine. Someone looks about to meet the Postboot Legion at the end of their book. Guardians uses the background as the threat, and that should be an absolute winner. But everyone has the same level of shocked expression, so it just doesn't work for me.

77. GHOST MONEY for sure. Hot and cool at the same time. Nice subtle framing.
78. OUT OF THIS WORLD. Sure, a psychedelic swordfish is pretty awesome, but OOTW is the whole package. Check out that ombre title!
79. TOM STRONG. I thought it was grass attacking WW.

81. Cosmo - Martians vs Saturnians - and rocket belts
82. Captain Victory - don't much like either one, but those are micro-troops. Bulletman looks stoned and Bulletgirl (Bulletwoman?) isn't doing anything.
83. Candy, for the logo.
84. Mud Man - a lot of brown, but it is mud. I like the logo at the bottom of the page for a change. The character looks surprised. Is he controlling the mud or being attacked by it?
85. Rex Libris - nothing shakes a librarian. Calm cup of tea with a crystal being. On Crystar, the goofy Marvel thing in the top left corner clashes with the rest of the cover. It's small, but annoying.
86. Wordsmith - again for the logo. If they lost the white panel it might improve the image. Maybe not. Freedom Fighters is very static.
87. Haywire - simpler, quiet and suited for a suggestion of death. And the logo. Again.
88. Love and Romance - it's the groovy 60s man! With far out logo and pink text bubble. You keep the poster of Shirley Jones. Obsessive love over a corpse is just creepy, even if she does look good.

81. Cosmo. It Didn't work for the Red Bee in 78. and Schmoo loses out here. I just like the night sky, crumpled effect of the rocket and the little exhausts coming out of it. 82. Bulletman. The Bullets look like a serious threat to the city, rather than crimefighters. Look at those passionless expressions of cold, robotic evil! Over on Captain Victory, Micro Troops looking up realise that Cap's costume ends at the thigh. "I'm blind! I'm blind!" 83. Candy. I was going to go with the dog license and other fun things the artist did with the car on Mitzi. But then I realised that the artist on Candy, must have known about the double entendre, and it wins for brazenness. 84. Firestorm. Mudman is a very good cover. It has great colouring. The logo placement allows for the power effect to really work on the cover. Mudman is slightly off centre, telling you how much the character is really in control of his powers. It's by Paul Grist, and I'm trying to track down some early issues as I type. But the Firestorm cover combines a cold war finality to the fittingly titled nuclear man. We see both the human and superhuman aspects of Firestorm torn away by the blast. The text/logo colouring is a bit meh, and the skull a bit much. But it's a winner. 85. Rex Libris. The character on Crystar seems to be lit by their own groin area, cut off by the code. Vaglox sounds like a little pick-me-up pill put in the tea rather than the crystal creature itself. But there's not enough tea with supervillain covers. 86. Freedom Fighters. A quick win as that box on Wordsmith is pointlessly in the way. 87. All-Star Squadron. My eyes are darting around taking in the action, while Haywire just lands there. There's a really good angle of trajectory between Haywire and the ship far below. But I'd made up my mind before noticing that. 88. Lovelorn. Oh Laurence. She's remarkably well preserved. No, not the whiny one. The other one. Suspiciously so Laurence. And look at that view Laurence. Right in front of pyramids. Do you really think that a tomb would be right there, undiscovered. Could it be, Laurence, that you have fallen for an old tourist trap and made a bit of a Nefer-tit-I out of yourself? There's not enough angst of imminent threat to gossips on the other one.
