Hey guys. For years now (and that kind of hurts to admit)I've been wanting to do a large scale retooling Legion Universe Fic. There's always been several reasons I haven't, a lot of them technological in nature, and have just never got around to writing it. Well, I've decided to just roll the dice and see what I can do. The Universe I was thinking of would combine aspects from all of the different Legion (definitely strong Reboot with v3 and v4 undertones, a maybe a pinch of Threeboot...) and would involve a huge Legion in a nigh-dystopian United Planets with some key members that might be a pleasant surprise for some . Anyhoo, I'm making Microheroes for the fic for reference, and was wondering if I could get some input from Legion fans on the outfits, and what I'm trying to convey with them, and the directions I'd be taking the characters. Would you guys look over some of them for me and give me your two cents? Thanks.

Okay, here's the first one I have: ![[Linked Image]](http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/8169/andrewnolanroughet2.gif) "Ferro" - Andrew Nolan of Earth Clean, easy, and simple. All of the ones I am going to post here are rough drafts, mainly because I don't really have the skills yet to make them any better. I'm really shooting for the sleek, uniform-style costumes the reboot Legion and the SW6 Legionnaires had, with some v3/v4 elements as well. I gave Andy gauntlets Frankensteined from an armor template I found, mainly to spice up the outfit a little, and to add to the "Armored Knight" feeling Ferro's power creates. I was torn over giving him the simpler Silver Age style mask like the one I ended up going with, or a more complicated, upgraded design...I'm still torn, to be honest... In the FicVerse, Andrew was abandoned by his mother after his Father's suicide, and his brother Douglas (who did not share his power in this universe) died in a starship accident. Andrew spent many years on Asteroid Mining Facilities trying to make a living, and has developed a few rough edges because of it.

Here's the next: ![[Linked Image]](http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/7163/tenzilkemroughvz8.gif) "Matter-Eater Lad" - Tenzil Kem of Bismol Now, at some point on this board, I saw a photomanipulation someone did that had Tenzil wearing a chest symbol that looked like Pac-Man. I, for the life of me, can't find it again. Whoever did it, please tell me so I can shower you with accolades, because I absolutely fell in love with the idea. Nothing fits better with Tenz's personality than a cute little symbol like this one, I think. It feels weird making a picture of Tenzil without any sunglasses on, for me...but it's one of the better ones I've made... In my FicVerse, Tenzil is one of the founding Legionnaires (which also gives the added bonus of explaining how a bismollian got on the team), and while he's still very much a cut-up, he is one of the hearts and souls of the team (Not unlike Silver Age Chuck or Reboot Cos).

I'm sort of doing these in the order in which inspiration hits me, but there's definitely a tread towards working on some of my favorites first. ![[Linked Image]](http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/7981/reepdaggleroughdc9.gif) "Chameleon" - Reep Daggle of Durla I'm not the biggest fan of the Threeboot, by any stretch of the imagination, but I do like that they play Reep as much more alien than the other versions of the Legion has. I wanted to combine all of his different looks, and add a little of my own. Notice he's not wearing a shirt (What point is there to clothing for a creature that can change shape? he's wearing pants more as a courtesy to those around him) and that he's styled his bare feet to look like boots.

Here's the next one. I had some trouble putting together the outfit, but I think it came out palatable at least... ![[Linked Image]](http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/9403/janarrahroughns3.gif) "Alchemist" - Jan Arrah of Trom While Jan's power is scientific in nature, I've always loved the spiritual aspects of him in v3 and v4, so I wanted his costume to reflect more of a religious garb than a combat outfit. While other Legionnaires need to be unencumbered, Jan's powers and combat tactics allow for his costume to be a bit less formfitting than others. A lot of people (on the board and Legion fans I know in real life) really hate the codename 'Alchemist', but I've always had a bit of a soft spot for it. I decided, in the FicVerse, to make it a title given to the most powerful Trommian Leader and, since Jan in this universe is also the sole survivor of his people, he has taken on the honorific as a reminder of his roots and a symbol to the Universe of his commitment to the memory of his people.

![[Linked Image]](http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/8922/saludigbyrougheh1.gif) "Atom Girl" - Salu Violet Digby To be honest, Vi has never had a costume I really liked, so I made this one. Again, sleek but fitting in with the 'lined' uniform feeling from SW6 and the reboot. I added the jacket ( and decided the costume is completly sleeveless underneath) for flair. Since I changed to her Threeboot codename, I made Violet her middle name (the nickname "Vi" is kinda a earmark for the character; I can remember only a few times she was called by her full code name OR her real name). In the FicVerse I'm slowly forming, Vi is a former member of the Imskian army (hence the shorter hair) and is a very outgoing and commanding prescence; not as out there as her Threeboot personality, but by no means a wallflower. Long story short: don't call her "Shrinking Violet" .

One of my friends, who I've been schooling in DC comics continuity during our downtime (which is considerable) almost popped me on the head for this one: ![[Linked Image]](http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/1249/hartdruiterroughhz1.gif) "Nemesis Kid" - Hart Druiter "So, this guy showed up, lied to everyone, tried to get the whole team killed, helped found and lead the teams' antithesis, and killed one of the most beloved members of group?" "Yup" "And, you're gonna put him in your group?" "Yup" That's pretty much how the conversation went. I always kinda liked Hart's power and potential, even though he was probably the biggest jackass in the 30th Century. Again, started from scratch for the costume. The green-and-yellow number didn't really have any purpose, so I changed the colors to be more eye-catching (The guy wants to get noticed in a scrap, right? The better the enemy, the better the power) and I added the interlac "N" for a symbol. Is he a villian in disguise? Who knows? That's what so great about building your own continuity, isn't it?

I've always been a proponent of the phrase: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," In that vein... ![[Linked Image]](http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/9062/querldoxroughbf2fs2.gif) "Brainiac 5" - Querl Dox A slight retooling of the old classic. I added the chest symbol for plot purposes (In this Verse, Querl has to wear a mark labeling him a decendant of Brainiac; much like telepaths have to state their nature with the Saturn symbol), and the gloves and boots for a little flavor. I also toned down the muscle, figuring that A) Brainy isn't, by nature, going to be as athletic as the other Legionnaires and B) his suit would be built for being comfortable in the lab, not form-fitting...

Here's one that gave me more than a little trouble: ![[Linked Image]](http://img261.imageshack.us/img261/4933/mysanalrougham7.gif) "White Witch" - Mysa Nal I had the hardest time getting the skintones right, but I'm fairly happy with the way it turned out. Again, like with Element Lad, Mysa's costume is more an expression of her than a combat uniform. I went with horns instead of antennae because, at least for me, they have a more mystical feeling.

Not-So-Bad Lad, that White Witch is amazing! Great design! You have very good unique ideas for costumes!
What I suggest? Experiment using other templates for the males atleast. It's a bit more work coloring them but it's worth it. You can do a search for the Micro Templates site. I can email you my favorite ones to work with. I also mix and match the template to suit my needs.

Here's one that I really need some feedback on: ![[Linked Image]](http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/1060/dirkmorgnaroughqf1je1.gif) "Solar Boy" - Dirk Morgna Dirk _IS_ a posterboy, in the truest sense of the word. Every guy wants to be him, and every girl wants him. But, as his heart, Dirk wants to do good with his popularity...but a little fun along the way is alright too, right? I wanted his uniform to be classic, glamorous, and show just a dash of skin. I always imagined him as a press liason (what looks better than a hunky hero with a great smile on TV?) and I wanted his suit to be a little Golden Age, a little Disco, and a little flattering. Are the gloves and boots that practical? No, but they certainly grab attention, and that's what Dirk wants to do (but in a good way ). Oh, and the name change was a tough call for me, but I think it sounds nice, and it puts a little more distance between him and Star Boy.

Speaking of Star Boy... ![[Linked Image]](http://img369.imageshack.us/img369/9347/thomkallorroughry2.gif) "Star Boy" - Thom Kallor I. Hate. Starfields. Sorry. Anyway, Star Boy has always had pretty good luck when it comes to costumes, so I figured why muck with it? I eased the white out a little, gave the stars a little color, and added some flotsam to the gloves and boots. This is one of the first times I've mucked with different Face Templates, and I'm not quite sure how I feel about it...How does he look? Too old? Too lanky? I can't tell. While Star Boy has never been my favorite Legionnaire, I do like his everyman quality, and the fact that sometimes the universe suprises him with Kryptonian-esque powers .

![[Linked Image]](http://img369.imageshack.us/img369/9094/brinlondoroughzf5.gif) "Wolfen" - Brin Londo Again, trying different faces. I think it paid off here a little better than with my other trials. Brin's costumes have always been a bit hit-or-miss, in my opinion, so I tried to combined the aspects that worked the best: The classic symbol, the Reboot Jacket, Threeboot-influenced colors... I like the stubble, but I think I effed the coloring on his chest a little. As for the name change: "Timber Wolf" is A) A fairly cumbersome codename (long codenames can be forgiven if they pay off better than 'Timber Wolf') and B) Kinda hokey to begin with (but not in a good way, like 'Matter-Eater Lad' ). I gave it some thought, and "Wolfen" was the best I could think of. Does anyone have a better name? I am more than open to suggestions...

How feral/"wolf-like" are you going with this Brin? You're right; "Wolfen" sounds kinda Liefield doesn't it? Brin (in this FicVerse) isn't as "feral" as he is "natural", really. More like an animal than a wild beast, you know?

Oh these are fun! Great work Not-So-Bad Lad. I can't wait to see more. Personal fave would be Mysa since she's sort of like a cool combo of Darkchylde and the White Witch. I definitely dig that. And making her more magical instead of alien fits her character so well. But, really, they're all great interpretations. The Pac Man sign wins, too! So awesome... though I have a soft spot for the tooth, too.

I was really happy with how Mysa came out; Doing the girls is a little harder for me. You've gotta make the costume functional, but also stylish...I try to avoid sexy for the sake of sexy, but it goes against my nature

As a shining example of the idiom "Less is More", I give you... ![[Linked Image]](http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/4350/lylenorgroughcn8.gif) "Invisible Kid" - Lyle Norg Really, I think Lyle's reboot costume was great, because it was also indicitive of his personality: a former spy and accomplished young biochemist, blending in behind all those headstrong alpha personalities, letting himself be overlooked until the best oppertunities presented themselves. A fiddled with the colorscheme a little, took that blinding white "I" and made it a little more subdued, and forwent the headband and viola! HUGE kudos go out to Ultra Jorge, who gave me _many_ new templates that I am currently in the process of playing with .

Great Invisible Kid. Again I am impressed with your costume designs! By now I'd think I've seen every costume on a Legionnaire yet you keep coming up with these great original designs that fit the characters so well. Bravo!
