Welcome to......

Kill This Thread XLV

The following rules were established by Kent Shakespeare at the start of the first 24-hour version, adapted from the original rules by EDE:

The rules:

1. The Basic Idea: Post to this thread, if no one posts after you for 24 hours, you win!

2. Posts that are not direct responses to one of the five preceding posts are ineligible to win. The topic can drift, but no complete non-sequitors. Posts that are responses to non-sequitors are also ineligible to win. Posts that are responses to responses to non-sequitors, and response nses to those posts, etc., become eligible, however.

3. In the event that this thread is locked, there shall be no winner unless a new thread is started for the contest. Furthermore, any post that results in the banning of the poster shall also be ineligible to win.

4. So, more precisely, one wins if one makes a post, and then no one makes another post that's eligible to win for 24 hours.

Fireball XLV was the name of a Gerry Anderson show. It's one I've not seen much of, as I'll be watching UFO or Captain Scarlet.

Watched it a bit when I was very young, enough to recognise the takeoff scene etc. I remember more of Stingray, and a lot more of Thunderbirds which I still enjoy. Missed UFO and Captain Scarlet at the time although I was aware of them because of the magazine Countdown. However I was a big fan of Space 1999.

Yeah, that's one of the few live action movies based on a classic cartoon that got everything right.

I treasure all the good times I've had at Legion World, and I'm grateful I can revisit any one of them, any time that I want!

It's such a good format. When I joined, it was such a treat to go through so many threads about the Legion. And lots that weren't.

^^That's the massive advantage over social media platforms like Facebook. Everything there just seems so ephemeral. Fior the not part groups and pages just aren't designed very well for looking through old discussions.

I also don’t understand why a lot of folks I know on Facebook use the stories feature. They disappear after 24 hours right? I mean… why? I hardly ever look at other people’s stories, why would one want to deliberately post something on Facebook that only lasts that long

Of course, many of the people I know who use that tend to over share, like once a day…

Yeah, apparently that's the whole point of Snapchat?

Re Snapchat… i learned that some people use it to send nudes and other things that would be dangerous if they fell into the wrong hands. So Snapchat I kinda get

Facebook, on the other hand… the stories I see often seem to be if someone’s gym workout, pet dog doing silly cute things, or on vacation… not things that would seem to be dangerous in the wrong hands

Most turtles are a bit naive.

They lead sheltered lives.

Funnily enough, I never really got into TMNT. I guess I was just a couple of years too old for it. shrug

The early comics are pretty decent. I've not read later ones, so don't know how long it lasted. Soon enough everyone was coming up with things like Octogenarian Unstable Origami Ocelots.
