Gas Girl: Dragonbat Wings? I could see this as a permanent look for GG with a tamed-down, open-topped version of this headdress with some simpler gloves. I like the pose, the face-stripes and the smoldering eyes.
And she's not relying on her cloudy-hair! Good one!
Invisible Kid: I'm having a flashback to Mohawk-wearing Storm of the '80's (or was that '90's?). 1/2 Karate Kid, 1/2 Tharok. Doesn't work for me. But I love the facial marking and the vortex background.
Hairstyle would've been a bit much, but OK. Earring would've been OK. Hairstyle and earring? Oy.
Night Girl: Look out! An atomic mushroom-cloud is sprouting from Lydda's head! Er- oh- that's her hairdo? Hee-hee! Never mind!
She looks like a 1920's flapper/vamp. Louise Brooks gone Theda Bara.
Seeing this makes me think that she designed the old Cosmic Boy nipple-flap costume... and *made* him wear it (he owed her, after the Shadow Lass/Night Girl team-up when he stepped out with Cindee whatever-her-name-was).
Lazon: Everything works but the gauntlets. Is he the Khundish version of a milkmaid? They cover his hands, don't they? How does he use his fingers? I'll bet his boots are ornamented, to balance out the costume.
Dawnstar: "Khundian skin pigments?" "Twilight Rose"? Cool. I like the Valkyrie-ish head-dressing. And the subtle facial make-up. The slicked-back hair works. Best of the round, for me.
I vote out Invisible Kid. Leave the funky head-treatments to the 'other' Invisible Kid.

Gas Girl: Sharp-edged and fierce. Oddly enough, I keep switching from seeing those wings on the helmet as dragon wings to seeing them as floppy bunny ears, and that kind of wrecks the first impression...
IK II: Wow, you've made Jacques' miserable skunk stripe palatable. It would be so great if he just stuck with that hair style. The outfit is pretty busy, but cool all the same.
Night Girl: I'm speechless. Just, totally awed. Until now, I think I've liked your mermaid Lu best of all your pictures (those I've seen, anyway). But this is a serious contender for the top spot! She's just, so, so... otherworldly different !
Lazon: Some kind of accident had to be involved to create this outfit. But where? In a bottling plant? In a diaper factory? In an Italian restaurant, hence the pizza wheel stuck to his chest?
Dawnstar: Not much clothing or hair to be seen, so she looks a bit bare, or fleshy, somehow (which is probably an asset if you happen to like Twilight Rose skin).
Reject Lazon - Out with Mr. Troll Hair!

I'm still bummed about my boy Gim But... I'll vote to eliminate Gas Girl this time.
The only character in all of literature who has been described as "badnass" while using the phrase "vile miscreant."

The Empress MUST make that connection with Veilmist. Maybe drag that stuckup tart Marte Allon along. This is getting tough. The gents are getting bolder and better with each round. Generally I find both all the ladies a bit underarmoured and we know that's an Earth product. Dawnstar is outstanding, the skin pigment ingenious. Down to Gas Girl and Nighty. I like risk takers and for me, Nighty went too safe here. Not a good idea in the challenge courts. Rejected Nightgirl.

Wow, what a wonderful round. This topic was an excellent idea, Veilmist is a great clothes designer.
I, too like Lazon the least in this round, but I'm not going to vote against him, I would really like to see what else Dean has in store for him in later rounds. So, who do I vote out?
Not Dawnstar, love her skin tone and her valkyria look. Great job on her.
Night Girl is my favourite for the round. She just looks so... weird. When I first saw her I laughed out loud, but now I keep going back and looking at her again. She looks like something out of a nightmare....
IK is great, too. Love the way you play with his white strip. He looks the most elegant of them all
So, I guess that leaves Gas Girl. Not that she looks bad, on the contrary. I guess my main concern is that she does not look like herself at all (if you hadn't put her name on the picture, I wouldn't have known who it was)
So, I vote to reject Gas Girl

Quislet, Esq. said Wait til the judges start making comments.
Although Dreamy is co-host for this competition and not a judge. You're right. Sorry. First time voter. Just wanted to comment on how great Nura looked. Anyways, a great round as always. Veilmist's comments on her designs were very funny like the "shy, demure type" one about Lydda's eye-popping sexy outfit. I'm also amazed how in-character the judges comments are. Emerald Empress in particular has been incredibly in-character in all contests. My vote goes to Lazon (again it wasn't easy to choose)

I was gonna vote againt Lazon, but it looks like that's been taken care of...
I'm -Enh- choosing between Lydda and Gassie. I agree with Doctor One's commen- she isn't recognizable as herself.
Ya, I think I vote against G...
ah, screw it. LAZON Out.

Pile on! Lazon-b-gone. Those blue arm plates just look uncomfortable, even for armor.
Gas Girl could link up with the Bat family, she's got a bit of the look there!

Although the issue seems to be decided I vote to reject Gas Girl this round. Just not doing it for me.

The margin was just untouchable! Lazon's light faded!
Since it was so clear, I actually completed the top four's holos. I've also pencilled and written the hosts' and judges' parts, I just need to scan, letter and color that, so I'll need some more time. Probably be posted tomorrow.
It's getting close!

Hey Sketchy,
I just had an idea for the next competition. Top Number 2. All the runners up from the previous competitions compete.

Wow. Looking at Lazon's "rejection" montage reminds just how stunning this competition has been.
Question?
Has Arn Strikl ever designed for a competition? I don't think we ever did get a look at the wedding dress he designed for Phantom Girl.

Quis, I have considered both an "All Star" Pinup Model competition, where the winners from each previous contest compete for the ultimate title, AND a Runner's Up edition, so that previously eliminated models could get another shot. I suppose it's been too fun putting new characters into the spotlight to go back, though I'm very pleased to have Night Girl return.
BB, I have actually considered a "wedding gown" theme for a challenge. It could still happen. Did we ever *meet* Arn Strikl in the book or was the name just mentioned? Yes, we're always looking for hot new designers here at Pinup Models, Inc!
I have an idea for the next competition, but I'm not sure when it will happen.

I'm not even sure if we saw the wedding dress. Maybe in a flashback when they got around to telling the story of Tinya's disappearance?

Night Girl It's her colour but I think its all little too much.
Gas Girl. Stunning indeed.
Dawnstar yeah it works for her. Lester picked a good piece.
Invisible Kid II, Why aren't you holding a hamburger? Channelling some Jughead Jones i think.
I vote to eliminate Night Girl.
